  5. the silver buddy is worth a look. i use them on erie, basic vertical jigging with most hits on the fall. my mindset when jigging is that after i jig it up and let it fall, on the next jig pretend that you know there is a fish on and that your setting the hook. early on when i first started using these i missed many fish with a weak jig. those erie smallies mouths are hard from diggin thru those zebra mussles and if you dont jig hard you will miss them
  6. not that I dont think that there would be good to come of it just that I doubt that federal law will change to allow felons have firearms.
  7. this summer in fort morgan alabama I was fishing off a pier throwing a heavly weighted gulf shrimp when I felt some good resistance, turned out to be a sea turtle snagged in the foot. I felt bad cause he wrapped me around a pileing and was stuck out of the water. but a boat came by and I got the owner to un hook it for me.
  8. well with a min left in the game I was winning the superbowl block poll final score of $500. I was rooting for the giants up to that point the rest is history.

  11. i was getting into sushi a while back until i got some bad stuff, and ended up doing a 5 hour imatation of a tube of toothpaste with a hole in both ends getting squeezed in the middle. I am still scared of sushi.

  13. we fish both the main lake and the bay from a 17 bass tracker single console with the deep v configuration and a 60hp and a 9.9. Use common sense and keep a close eye on things in BOTH the bay and the main lake. There are some places to hide in the bay that you can stay out of the wind and waves but if the waves are in the bay it can be a struggle to get across . i fished most of the lakes around my area and after going to erie its worth the extra hour ride. I keep a close eye on wind direction reports and wave hights on the marine forcast.
  14. i use winter to rest up for those long days on the water. nothing like going to sleep at 1am to get up at 2am to meet your buddy at 3am and drive 2hrs to be on the water by 5:30am and spend the rest of the day fishing till its getting dark around 9pm then the 2 hr drive back sheesh, i miss those days already:)
  15. I plan on being there. Presque Isle Bay is a good location. If the waves are good we can hit the main lake, if not we can hide in the bay. E

  17. I was fishing with roadwarriors buddy speedy ,the guy with the biggest baddest boat below the dam , we were trying to catch some smallies, but we ended up catching those tennessee tarpon on rapalas and live bait. we also caught some rock fish aka stripers. i did manage one smallie and some largies but i could tell that that was some great smallie water. I will be back to try agian...
  18. I generally dont keep them, but I am not scared of a few meals here and there. people have been eating them for years, and the river is alot cleaner now than in years past.
  19. that looks like a rock fish to me
  20. are you speaking of the tennesee tarpon? if so, those things are cool, i caught a bunch of them below that dam at picwick. they hit like a mack truck and give a great fight.
  21. Well after a great walleye trip last sunday on the allegheny, my partner wants to give moraine another go today for bass. We finally launch at about 930 am after finding some soft water. its about 32 degrees and pretty calm, water was about as clear as it gets at moraine. bottom line after throwing everything we saw in our boxes we ended up fishless agian. The excitment for the day was when my partner, somehow dropped his Quantum PT Tour Edition 7:1 Burner Reel and Fenwick rod over board. After a quck swipe at it with my own rod, I quickly looked at the bank and noticed that we were inline with a tree, then i glanced at the Lowrance and noticed that we were in 9 feet. I tried running a deep diver as did he but to no avail.,I then changed to this huge treble topped with a big egg singer, after a couple snags that I got free, I came thru and had a $200 plus combo hooked and we landed it. Im thinking the allegheny and the walleye next week.
  22. sounds great I know I am ready to break out the mister twister electric knife and show off my mad fileting skills.
  23. Its like fish in a barrel. Wednesdays and Sundays are good for me. I am sure a 16 footer would be fine. I still got your number. I let my buddy keep all the fillets even though i love walleye. I live so close if i need some Its like a minute from my house. but a boat makes its a little easier. keep me posted, e
  24. i hit the highland park dam this morning for a little walleye hunting. about 10 boats out there all were catching fish. jigs tipped with minnows were the ticket, the minnows didnt even have to be alive. I tried some soft plastic minnows and minnow swimbaits to no avail. and jigs alone didnt work . lots of smaller saugers and eyes but we managed plenty of keepers 18 to 20 inches.
