Sixth fish I caught. Seventh fish I caught.

Me and my dad both caught some hogs last weekend(Him catching the biggest). We went out at 5:30 and left at 1:30 with just enough time to listen to the last half of the falcons game(6-0 baby). This was the first time in three trips to this lake that I actually caught anything. We were using OL Monsters the entire time except for me catching one on topwater with a spook in the morning. My dad caught one with the line in his hand, he got a big birdsnest after he casted and while he was getting it out a bass picked up the worm and he set the hook and reeled him in with is hand haha. Me and him had a great time on the water as always, also nice for us to have fun and catch fish at the same time. Caught a total of 9 bass, we didnt take pictures of a couple of them. First fish my dad caught, all of the rest including this one were caught on OL Monsters. Second fish he caught, the one where he had to reel in with the line in his hand. Second fish I caught. Me, my dad, and my dad's girlfriends sons went up to this lake called woodruf lake, it's at a boy scout reservation. We went because they had a boy scout camp thing going on with archery, car races, fishing, BB gun shooting, soccer, football, etc... Anyways, me and my dad caught at least 30 LM bass this weekend. They were all 1.5 pounds to 2.0. Two years earlier a guy caught a 12 pounds bass, he showed us the picture and man it looked to be more(We think he took it home). All in all it was an amazing trip, we caught them topwater with a Super Spook Jr. bone color at early morning when the fog was still on the lake and over the mountains, and late at night with a degree of 52*. And in the afternoon with Ol Monsters, and Super Flukes. It was really pretty up there, Saturday and Sunday morning we could see the sun rising at the top of the mountains, with the clouds covering the sun. Thanks everyone. I went and got 2 super spook jr's, and got the nickel color and bone. The super spook looked huge so I am going to get those some other time.

Thanks for the info. I will probably do the leader as you stated. Would 12pound be alright for the leader? I also would not want to lose one due to poor knot tying for the braid to mono, so what would be the best knot and one that would go through my guides without losing cast distance? Thanks

I have some questions about the Zara Spook. I know you are supposed to walk them like a frog, but could I use heavy braid such as 40 pound? Would it wrap around it? What color should I get for fishing shoreline cover, trees, and weeds? Could I fish this in a place with weeds that are submerged? Thank you for any advice. Sorry for all the questions haha.

I was basing it off of line visibility. Thanks guys. I'm also fishing stained water so I didn't think using braid would affect anything anyways.

I was wondering if I were to use 40 pound braid with a medium sized spinnerbait if that would affect catching bass. I don't have my reels with flouro or mono so I am kinda stuck using topwater. I also have 20 pound if that would be better. Any help would be great, thanks.

I mainly throw frogs. I am going to start using spinnerbaits though so that is why I was thinking medium heavy.

100$ would be the max.

I want to get a rod that can cast frogs and even flukes if I need to. I was thinking of getting a Carrot Stix Medium Heavy. Would that be a good rod? Any reccomendations. Or should I just get a heavy one?

I am fishing a lake that is just chalk full of weeds. But where I usually catch the bigger ones is in this area where a creek comes in and it has clear patches around shallow points and what not. BTW: I have been using the BOOYAH Pad Crasher.

I have been fishing a hollow body frog every weekend. I will usually only catch bass at early morning and when it is starting to get dark. I went on Friday night and caught 1 small one and lost probably about a 7 pounder( man was I PO'D!). It shook it's head when I got it to the shore to lip it and came off. I also went Saturday/Sunday morning and Sunday evening and caught one that was about 3 pounds in the morning on Saturday and then one 2 pounder on Sunday morning.. It missed 3 times and finally got him on the fourth cast. I was thinking if I were to use a smaller frog would they hit more because it is not the same frog they see every time. Would I only catch small bass? I was thinking of buying the smallest live target frog or maybe even the medium sized one. Would the smallest one be able to cast far on 40 pound test 832 Advanced Superline( I think that is the name)? Or should I just stop fishing a frog this coming weekend and then fish it the weekend after next? Thanks for any help.

I know that spawning season isn't here yet (so don't tell me I am dumb lol) but, if I were to catch a male/female bass like maybe a day or two before it drops the eggs or fertilizes them will I ruin a chance of having bass in that lake with good genes? Like will the male swim back to the bed to protect the eggs? Will the female be able to drop her eggs? I was just wondering because me and my dad were talking about it and I thought I could just ask you guys. Any information would be great. I could not find anything on google. I probably didn't word it right.

Thanks. I caught a nice 3 1/2 pounder yesterday and one maybe 3 pounds, and the other only 1 1/2 lol. Will post pictures later. Caught nothing toady but my dad caught 2 tiny ones haha. The cold air this morning either put the fish down or the fishing just isn't good during the morning hours to around 3:00. Maybe with the sun being up. Going out around 5:30 to bank fish and we'll see how that goes.

When I bought a BC combo from bass pro online it said that it would be 2 days for the reel (USPS) and 4 for the rod (FEDEX). Got the reel in 4 days and the rod in 3. I have had a good amount of shipping problems with USPS. And when my mom sent something from me to my friend in Florida it did not even ship.

Yeah lol. Happend to me twice with two live targets lol. 20 bucks gone haha. What sucked is when they jumped out of the water and I could see that they were hawgs to. Fixed that problem though now I tie the palomar knot that gene posted it and works wonders. Havent lost a lure yet.
