Artificial Worms
I am a 5th grade Science teacher, this is what you could/should follow. 1. Write a testable problem question. - Will fertilizer increase the size of tomatoes? 2. Do some research on your problem. 3. Write a hypothesis, usually in an if... then... format. - If I use more fertilizer in my soil, then my tomatoes will be larger. 4. Test your hypothesis using one variable. - 5 tomato plants with fertilizer added in the soil, 5 without. All other factors (sun/temp/water) must be the same. 5. Collect and analyze your results. 6. Write a conclusion about your findings, including if your hypothesis was confirmed or not.

How Much Does Your State Resident Permit Cost?
Usually it is a "at a time" charge. In KS some crappie guys will toss and troll several rods at a time and need that permit.

How Much Does Your State Resident Permit Cost?
In KS it is $19.00 plus I get the Trout Permit just in case at another $11.00 = $30.00/year. What do you pay in permits every year?

Coaching Of The Youth
I think it is also important to remember that there are different levels of competition available for most age groups in most sports. The lowest level of sport are Rec and YMCA leagues, they should be focused on introducing sports, teamwork and building skills to as many children possible, and minimize the importance of winning, but emphasize improvement of skill. This is great for some, but not all. In KS and many other states there are several youth options to participate in a more competitive form of youth sport, which is great for those who are developmentally ready to physically and mentally compete at a higher level. Even in my classroom (5th grade) I tell my students they each have a different "best", and that I expect that "best" every day, in every way. FWIW - I spent the last 9 years as a college and high school basketball coach and currently am in graduate school in Sport Management.

Caught A Bass Today But...
So it is January 19 and was 60+ degrees in Kansas, so I went out and fished for a bit at a local 2 acre pond that had been frozen over until a few days ago. Caught a small little bass, but it gave me 12 straight months with at least one bass. It was also my first bass on fluorocarbon. I was using some 8# P-Line 100% Fluoro on my ML Spinning Combo and about 6 casts after my bass I have a mess with a loop that had formed on the spool. Like I said, I am new to fluorocarbon lines, what can I do to help from having this problem happen again? I am 100% sure I am to blame on this one.

Great perspective! Lets see some more....

My Comobos - What Uses?
Hey guys - I have 5 combos and would like your input on what I should be using each for. Keep in mind I am bank fisherman who is looking for bass, but also nice sized panfish, or whatever is biting. And that in March my 1st child will be born (Son), so I might not be getting out as much I used to. I am trying to make sure I have certain uses for certain combos, so please include line type/size you would pair with them. 1. 5'6" Light Spinning Combo - My current use for this is for creek fishing for spots/largies/panfish (caught a 4.75 lb largemouth on Dec 1 with this one!) 2. 7' MH baitcasting Combo 3. 6'6" ML Spinning Combo 4. 6' M baitcasting Combo 5. 6' M Spincasting Ugly Stik Combo As always, I appreciate all input! Picture is me in 2nd grade!

Awesome Student
I teach 5th grade in a middle class town in KS. At the beginning of the year I challenge my students to read and pass a comprehension test on 11 different genres before Christmas break, if they meet the goal they get to choose a prize that I will buy them, under $10. Last week I had my second student pass the challenge. She is a sweet little girl who does not seem like an outdoors type at all, and then she wanted me to buy her, her first tackle box. I was so excited, went to the local BPS and bought one for her. Her smile was so big today when I presented it to her! What an awesome day!

10-90
Many of you have probably heard or heard of Stephen Covey's 10-90 rule: 10% of life is what happens to you (out of your control) and 90% is how you react to it (in your control) I for one and a big believer in this. Here are some of my thoughts I have posted on my facebook in the past about the 10-90 rule: 10-90 When a student/friend/co worker tells you about the positive or negative things that are happening to them (their 10), ask them to tell you about their 90. "What actions did you take?" The 90 is what makes the difference. 10-90 time again. You can only control you - Be the squeegee! Don't be a sponge (or ShamWOW) to negativity, because what a sponge soaks up, it becomes (or at least smells like). Sponges also carry that negativity to other places, spreading it around, and exposing others to the disease. Sponges are easily replaced when they begin to smell. Instead, be the majestic squeegee. The ability to wipe away negative residue in a single pass. Never taking on the characteristics of what it disposes of. Always needed, always missed when not around. They might not look like much, but they make a world of difference. What are your thoughts? You should give it a try!
