  1. I wear mine every time I'm out in my kayak. My fishing buddy always laughs at me when it's hot as the suns surface out and I'm in my vest. He tells me that you can stand up in this water why do you have that silly thing on. I told him you never know when you are going to possibly flip the thing and end up knocking your head on a rock or swept into a tree. Yet I'm the one that has never dumped his kayak and he's done it 4 times that I know of.
  2. I use Exide deep cycle marine batteries from Menards
  3. It's always cool seeing what kinds of fish inhabit the waters of other countries.
  4. That's pretty much the point of YouTube anymore. The more subscribers, the more likes, the more views, the more money the content creator makes. It's all about the Benjamins and who cares about the content. That's why a lot of these "fishing" YouTubers have thumbnails with clickbait messages on them. It gets the attention of people so they click to view their videos. It's not just fishing, it's in all different topics on YouTube, and it seems like the more outrageous and ludicrous someone acts the more views they will get and the more poor the quality of the content is.
  5. Duckett narrows his rods by technique and they are white so I'm guessing they were Duckett's.
  6. I am super fair skinned and I burn if I sit under a fluorescent bulb too long sometimes (just kidding) and I really hate messing with applying sunscreen every hour or so. It's messy, greases up your hands, puts unwanted scents on your baits, etc. So I go all out and wear long fishing pants (the ones that are convertible so I can unzip the lower part when I'm done fishing), long sleeve tech shirts (although I do sometimes wear the button up lightweight fishing shirts), a baseball cap, lightweight fingerless gloves, and a face shield up over most of my face when I fish now. The only place that gets sunscreen is my nose, forehead, and cheeks. Even when it's super hot outside. I'd rather have to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated than get sunburned/skin cancer. People look at me and ask if I'm crazy for wearing all that in the dead of summer and actually it's really not that hot. Most of the clothing now is so well made that it keeps you cool by not clinging to your body and it wicks your sweat to keep you cool. I'm really a fan of the Magellan stuff that Academy sells. Well priced and just as good as the HUK or Columbia stuff. I have a pair of Simms that I'll wear but not a fan of the open palm. Seems to like to attract stray treble hooks. I picked up a pair of Outdoor Research gloves off Amazon that I like better because they cover the palm and they also have nice grippy rubber dots on the palm that helps grip the rod handle. Unfortunately it looks like they don't make the style of OR gloves I currently have
  7. Is the weed sort of suspended in the water where most of the weed is towards the top with there being an area under the weeds that could be less weedy and more root stems? If so you could try punching it with a heavy 1oz weight to try to get some reaction strikes of fish waiting under the weed mats.
  8. That there is a great idea. I usually end up wrapping the line that has the weight on it around the butt end of the rod but it never stays. I even have the hair bands that I use for my wacky rigs that I can use for that too.
  9. I also keep them in the original package and put them in gallon ziploc bags and organize them by type (craws, swimbaits, stick worms, ribbon worms, etc). I then store them in a milk crate. Makes it easy to transport from the big boat to my kayak.
  10. The BPS worms are the only ones I use anymore. They catch lots of fish. Like said above why change to GY worms if the BPS ones are working?
  11. What kinds of topwater baits are you using? Sometimes they will want something with a more subtle action such as a horny toad. Sometimes they want something that causes a ton of commotion like a buzz bait. Sometimes something in between like a whopper plopper. Sometimes you’ll want something that stays in the strike zone for a while like a walk the dog or popper lure. Other times a wake bait that just meanders across the top.
  12. Several times I’ve hooked a 12” smallmouth and thought it was a much bigger fish because of the way they fight. Definitely one of the best fighting fish pound for pound. Once you hook one you’ll want to catch many more.
  13. Listening to Brandon Palaniuk the past few years at fishing shows I've gone with his method and haven't lost a fish while using a leader. He uses leaders that are two rod lengths long and he uses an alberto not so it passes through the guides well. He uses a long leader like that so that when he is fighting a fish at the boat the knot is in the reel and that's one less thing he has to worry about.
  14. Take a look at the sit on topAscend kayaks from Bass Pro also. The 10T and 12T are pretty well outfitted for fishing and are $549 and $649 respectively. Both have pretty comfy seats also.
  15. You can use the cursor on your graph to mark a location you've already passed over and it will put a waypoint at that point on your map.
  16. I also do this with my Garmin 73SV. When you pass over the structure you want to mark you can use the D-pad buttons to move the cursor to the structure on the graph and I forget what button you push (I think it may be MARK or SELECT?) and it will mark a waypoint on your map. Then you can circle around and you'll know where that structure is by watching the map.
  17. I've had it happen once the first year I owned my boat. I was out alone at a lake that you have to idle out past a wave break wall quite a ways before you can open it up. I throttled up and the nose of the boat came way up in the air. I thought there was something wrong with my engine because it wouldn't trim down. So I shut it off and open the back hatch to see that it was 3/4 of the way full of water and the transom was almost at the water level. Saw my plug laying the splash tray and luckily I was able to reach in the water and under the boat to put the plug in. A couple minutes more and I would have been in a bad situation as I was out about 1/4 mile into the lake by then. Turned on the bilge and it took a few minutes to pump out and off I went with a wet long sleeved arm.
  18. I never understood how side imaging is useful at the bow since the trolling motor is always turning. I guess it works when you are going in a straight line but I would think it would mess the image up as soon as it turns even the slightest. It's too bad they don't offer this for other finder manufacturers than HB.
  19. All of the new Berkley topwaters look to be a knock off of something else that's out there. But if the price is better then I'm all for it. I like Berkley's Fusion19 hooks.
  20. This is great. My Berkley scale was needing new batteries and it takes like 4 of the flat batteries and they cost more than one of these scales. So I ordered two
  21. These are like the ones I bought. I think the pack I got from Walmart was a multi size pack and I only took the medium sized ones for fishing. The rest went for my daughter's hair. https://www.pharmapacks.com/products.php?product=Goody-Classics-Rubberband%2C-Black-250-ea&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwrr_lqmN3AIVxLXACh0_YwAeEAQYBSABEgITL_D_BwE
  22. They have just as much right to the water as you. I'm sure they didn't disturb any fish underneath them and they didn't mean any harm by doing what they did. No reason to go off on them. Now if they were fishing and they did that, that's a different story.
  23. Yep... https://www.bassmaster.com/slideshow/icast-2018 That Realis jitterbug/frog/swimbait thing looks weird.

I still fish these but I'm going to be using Yum Christie Craws once all my RT Craws are gone. They have similar action and are more durable, although Yum doesn't have the good colors like PBJ or Falcon. Both catch fish.

They do work great. The only issue I have with them is they tend to lose claws rather easily when the fish shake their head. Not very durable but that is part of what you get with the action they have.
