  1. Saw this earlier this morning. that's a boss spot. glad it was released
  2. I like water to be from glass calm to a good chop not quite choppy enough to make a mudline on the bank. i try to parralell a contour or cover feature on structure my favorite is weedlines or bluff walls . but they work well on points and other structure also. my most succesful retrieve is a slow erratic retrieve lots of twitches and rod sweeps. but mix it up and the fish will tell you. one piece of advice i would give is when you get one on don't try to fight the fish much. get its head turned and heading toward you and don't stop. the weight of the bigger baits will work in the fish's favor when it headshakes.
  3. Chuck noriss and lance armstrong got into who had the most balls contest... chuck norris won by 12
  4. Big baits lower your chances for smaller fish but i still have dinks hit my big swimbaits on occasion. also I've caught a 6lber on a 4" dead ringer weightless. so the old saying is some what true. 60% of the time, it works all the time.
  5. Pm me and lemme know what you got. maybe we can strike up a deal
  6. I'm a hb guy. that said my buddy's lowrance structure scan is far better as far as composition and definition. but i like the ease of use of my hb unit i had. I'm still researching for boats to buy alumacraft seems to be the front runner with a 90 hp jet .
  7. Dropshot and senkos for me.
  8. hey man thinking of getting a yak myself. you checked out the yak dealer on broadway in columbus? Their site says they sell jackson yaks. I'm looking at a coosa or cuda but still on the fence.
  9. everyone knows you don't need that many bullshads.. but i want that many lol
  10. initial impressions?
  11. love that bone color freestyle

Saw a few colors at the local tackle shop the other day. Might pick up a bag or two next time I'm in there
  13. lol good luck it started with a bbz shad and snowballed into baits that cost as much as 4 bbz's. its a slippery slope my friend slippery indeed.
  14. Super creepy illustrations in the old books... i still have a copy and the read along casstete that came with it. do you remember the poem/song the worms crawl in the worms crawl out? Gave me nightmares as a child
  15. I have 4 reels I've used for "big baits" an abu 5500 round reel. a shimano cardiff an okuma citrix 364 and a abu c3 round reel the cardiff is good for hudds and slow moving baits. best bang for your buck. the okuma citrix is nice too i have only had it for about 3 months. But for the price and itsnot given me problems yet. i fish triple trouts punkers wake jrs and other baits i fish faster
  16. Yea they're making a big comeback here in west point I've caught one last summer on a jerkbait that was close to a pound the stripers eat em like candy mike I'm in between boats right now shopping around for the one i really want but hopefully soon ill have the one i want and we can get togethee
  17. I didn't get one until i could.pay for it myself so i was almost 15 i had a part time job and did what i could around the house for a little money in my pocket. my son won't get one until he's responsible enough to have one so around the age of 13-18 depends on how he matures.
  18. My wife fishes with me sometimes. she prefers crappie and catfish to bass and stripers. but my 2 1/2 yr old loves fishing as much as i do. She enjoys tanning while we fish up front. For the record my wife is 3 yrs older than me and often refers to herself as my old lady.
  19. Local shop here has them. neat looking baits but I'm not in the market for them at 16 bucks a piece.
  20. The sunrise or sunset. a toilet bowl flush on a topwater that thump on a jig bite. catching two fish at once on a crankbait. The glass smooth water on a late spring day when you're the only boat on the water Watching my son get excited over every fish watching my buddy hook into a catfish he swears is a monster bass until it makes an appearance boatside. the wildlife in its natural environment so much more than that but those are at the top of my list
  21. I live on westpoint lake right on the line. pretty decent fishery. its about 3hours from you and 2 from your brother. feel free to shoot me a pm for any info on the lake if you decide to come down i fish it pretty regularly and can give you a few hints and spots for the current patterns
  22. Been kinda hot and cold lately changes daily it seems. the west point lake fish seemed confused and haven't completely dedicated themselves to prespawn patterns yet. the hooch has been more productive but the quality isn't where it should be. lots of 12-16" lm and spots and schoolie size stripes and hybrids. shoal bass are starting to get active. I'm in between boats for a few weeks as i sold mine and am on the prowl for a brand spanking new rig. so i won't be out for a while unless I'm invited by others. how bout you any luck lately?
  23. If at any point around the two boats our casting radiuses intersect. that's too close. happened to me last weekend. took my son out for a boat trip last weekend since the weather was so pretty. we pull up to a spot in a cove where I've caught bluegill before. i bait his pole and let him cast. after a few seconds the bobber goes under hard. he reels in a scrappy lil spot. well about the time i take it off the hook i hear a splash. look out and a yellow skeeter is casting into my hole. he sets the hook on a spot also. he sees my son on the deck with me then tries to justify his action by stating they haven't caught anything all day and they're in a tournament. luckily my son was with me so instead of cussing him and calling him everything but a thin white woman, i politely picked up my swimbait rod and threw my triple trout across his line. i snag it and reel it to my boat. i apologize for this and inform him that if he hadn't crowded my spot it could have been avoided. i then threw his spinnerbait back in the water for him to reel back in. he mumbles something to his co anglerand they crank up and leave. maybe if it was just me i wouldve just left but i felt like he was stealing fish from my son. usually Im very friendly even to pleasure boaters and invite conversation from other anglers most of the time and am always mindful of others space. i guess i can't expect everyone to uphold my same etiquette.
