I still have some of the old lighting rods from the late 80s early 90s. To me they are made better,and theyve hauled in alot of fish. Not one ever failed me. The new ones have a cork forgrip,that will break apart in no time. New and improved isnt always better

Not really a bait mod, but take those tiny dropshop hooks and put them all on a safety pin. Much easier to get,and wont scattter as easy.

Ive stained rod handles before. I used regular wood stain,and it comes in a multitude of different colors. Im no pro rod builder or nothin,but i do like to tinker around. I sanded the cork,and just stained it like it was wood. After it dried,i sand it with very fine sandpaper,top coated with spray spar urathene. Been 4 years,and the rod gets alot of use in all weather,still looks great.

I still crig lizards& trig them too. As far as rigging ive done both ways,and honestly have seen no advantage one over the other. Just my experience. Ive used alot of brands,and the BPS brand is just as good as zoom. Recently ive been using Power Team Lures lizard,i like the tail movement better,not to mention the massive quantity i got a at cheap price.

I always have jigs tipped with a trailer of pork. Most dont use pork as trailer anymore,but for me, its a much better trailer in cold water. Hair jigs are great in cold water also. The colder the water the slower you fishem.

If you don't mind me askin? Where do you get your pork made? Uncle Josh use to make one I had tremendous success with,but I can't never find it anymore.

1.Good Ole jig,with uncle Josh on it. 2.Black lizard /chartreuse tail. 3.Single spin spinnerbait/ brown&orange skirt. Just to name a few

Thanks for all the good info everyone. What length of rod and action do you all use, what type of line and size has worked out for you?

I have one,and it is a great real. I bought it here also,just like new. As far as not having antireverse,it's no big deal really. It does have a excellent drag! It's really gonna be a personal choice of the antireverse feature? I can and do fish both types,but if you ever decide to sell it,pm me please or we can work out a trade for one of my many used like new spinners.
