When you put the braid on, was a backing used? And was it spooled on tight? Sounds like its digging into itself. Every so often i will cast out a good way,to get those top few layers wound back on good an tight. And check all guides with qtips☺

It sounds like to me your drag is not set tight enough? And as you are trying to reel in, the drag will be slipping, if not tight enough. It will actually feel like something is wrong with the reel, when actually theres not. Back your drag all the way off,spin handle few times. Then tighten drag all the way down, and see if that takes care of it. Also, when you put braid on, even if you used backing, it has to be wound on tight. Or it will slip and dig into it self. Other than that, with out seeing i dont know.?

Are you set on getting him a new combo? The reason i ask, when i was 12, my dad gave me one of his rod an reel combos(bait casting). He used it fishing tourneys. I was so excited that my dad gave me one of his combos that he thought so much of. He taught me how to cast, and i was hooked for life. I still have it and always will

Hi everyone- Im wondering what your opinions are on the 4in Keitech Easy Shinner? Ive never used them. Are they much different than the swing impact as far as movement in the water? Theres 7 per pack vs 8 pack impacts? Thanks for any input and your time ?

Those are some good hooks, all though rather small. I have put the size 8 on KVD 1.0, and a few spybaits, and smaller jerkbaits.
