Favorite Species Besides Bass
I get a rush from musky. They don't fight the hardest but when you see that submarine headed to your boat or wading spot it's an amazing experience. They completely disregard everything but the lure they key in on. Very cool.

Mann's Baby 1- Crankbaits
I think that would depend on your casting skills and set up. Might take you some practice but like anything you'll get there eventually. I hate throwing cranks on spinning gear but that is just me. I know the sub 1/4oz or wood Rapalas is almost a must on spinning but rarely do I throw anything that light.

Mann's Baby 1- Crankbaits
It's an awesome bait! The bluegill color gets crushed pretty good on my lake. That little guy was turned on to me from when I joined this site. I throw those on my Dobyns 705cb glass with a Ci4 and 12# or 14# fluoro. For me its more of a target cranker and not so much getting great distance. I'm still able to throw them a good distance. I've also thrown them on a 7' Medium/Fast graphite rod with great success.

Are There Shad In Northern Lakes?
All I know is shad looking baits still work great in waters where they dont exist. Pretty certain there are a few bodies of water that have shad of some sort. Check the MN dnr site.

Backhanded Toss
Trebles in your boat carpet can be a nightmare too. Obviously not an issue with a single hook (worm hook) but still, best to keep it out of the way.

Confession
No. I catch plenty and rarely use one.

Try 30-40 Power Pro on a single baitcaster to start. 150 yd will run you 12-14 bucks. Not a huge investment and a great line that's not going to let you down. I like Sufix 832 the best. Like others, I use braid on almost everything except crankbait fishing or when I'm in a lot of rock/rip rap. I'm usually running straight braid and rarely use a leader. I think you'll be pretty shocked on how much sensitivity you'll gain. I forsee you changing out most of your spools in the near future...

Impressions Of The Rage Bug
I used it for punching slop and as a jig trailer on my last outing with results on both applications. Great action just like all the Rage Tail stuff. Appendages did seem to be a little weaker than most of the Rage Tail products i've used but still a great bait.

Tips On Fishing Jigs?
Pinned thread in the very top of this forum. Get a coffee and read it. Good stuff. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12403-jig-fishing-questions/

Is My Line Too Light For Jigs?
There are plenty of crystal clear lakes up here in the north and a lot of guys use braid on most outfits. We have no problem getting bit so it really shouldn't be an issue, so like A-jay suggested, that is what I would do. I'm not worried about bass seeing the line, I'm more worried about feeling even the subtlest of bites. My .02 on that. If you prefer to stay with Fluoro, I'd get into the 14# test range for jigs, especially around docks and wood. I'm not big on using fluoro over 17# so that would be my max.
