  1. If you fish shallow at all, you should consider it in my opinion. Up in the north here, lots of boulders, reefs and other uglies in the water that the keel guard might just save you from putting a nasty gouge in your fiberglass. Also, if you ever plan to beach your boat it will help protect it from getting all scratched up. $100 keel guard is better than a $500 crack or gouge repair. If I fished deep water with no obstructions to ever worry about, I don't really see the need for it. I guess it all boils down to how protective you are over your boat.
  2. I have the Smoke sl100hpt. I think its a great reel. Very light, quiet, and very smooth. I think you'd be very happy with it.
  3. I had the 50E in my cart 3 times...lol I couldn't do it. I've spent too much already this year. I did however add a new topwater rod to my arsenal. Not too often you get price cuts on St.Croix rods, so I took advantage there. 50E can wait until my birthday I guess.
  4. A lot of their stuff is 20% off. Tempting.....must resist
  5. Peg board with simple metal hangers for goods in original packaging. Vertical/horizontal rod storage on the walls. 3700 boxes stacked, labeled on shelves.
  6. I'd take fishing over sitting in front of the television all day watching sports. I played enough sports in my life up through the college level. There are enough phone apps, espn sports updates, and DVR as AJay mentioned....to keep in touch with the games going on while you are on the water. It took me up until my mid 20's to figure out that fishing is my real passion. I probably would have figured that out sooner but I played 100 baseball games a year, football in high school, working out in off season. I never had time to fish when I was growing up. Sometimes I regret devoting so much of my time to sports. What I regret most, is not being able to fish with my grandpa more as a kid. He passed when I was 15 and at that age I was playing 3 or 4 sports year round. I never made time to go up to our summer home just to fish with him. Little off topic but it's a constant reminder to me of the more important things in life that you can't get back.
  7. LTB610MLXF is my front runner for the Ci4 right now. I have the Avid 68MXF for a Senko and smaller plastics rod paired with Symetre FJ 2500. I also have a 7' mojo for heavier plastics and jigs that I'm putting a Stradic 2500 FJ to replace an old Quantum Inferno 30 series. Casting rods I have are 2 Triumphs, 2 Mojo, 1 Rage, 2 Premiers. So i'm thinking about taking the leap into the higher ends rods. I could never justify the cost to myself but being that I have gift cards now, I might take the plunge.
  8. I fish them exclusively so I'll be getting in on this deal since I missed it last time around. Got some unused giftcards from Xmas..so it'll be like getting 3 rods for nothing. Picked up brand new Ci4 2500 for an amazing price on ebay. Spring can't come soon enough!
  9. This deal is back again, and couldn't be more timely with the spring sales coming. http://www.stcroixrods.com/pdfs/Spring%20Promo_USA.pdf http://www.stcroixrods.com/pdfs/Spring%20Promo_CANADA.pdf They included you too Canada. Feel the love. Just giving the Croix boys a heads up!
  10. The Stradic FJ I got is going to replace an older spinning reel of mine. The CI4 is for a new set up. Look on ebay Jeff, there is 1 or 2 more CI4's I was watching that are still at a good price point.
  11. Is that pinnacle rod a Perfecta?
  12. I just scored a brand new CI4 2500 on ebay for $70 cheaper than retail. Now I need a rod.
  13. Invisabraid is what has kept me from every trying any spiderwire products again. Way to stiff for a braid. Not for me....no thanks. I use 832 or regular Sufix braid.
  14. I use a Mojo 7' MH/F. Paired with a Curado 200E7. Works really well for me and I fish some super thick vegetation. Never had a problem getting them out with that rod.
  15. I bought a mess of lures and other items just now. $35 bucks easily $75 retail. Too hard to resist.
  16. I have a pair from Cabelas $20, amber lenses and they work really well. After 4 seasons now the paint on the frame is chipping. I was looking at maybe getting some SK S11 glasses this season. I can never find them in a store to look at so I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.
  17. 1 lb spools are on sale for $22.23, a good price at OStockbaits. I know a lot of you guys use that stuff so I just wanted to give a heads up to the community. They only have #4 and #6. UPDATED: Sorry they have #4 in green. Not smoke. Smoke is in the #6 only.
  18. I see this more as a wall hanger by the basement bar. You can make up some crazy story to your drinking buddies about fishing in texas landing your first dd bass and this rattler came up and latched on your leg. Poisoned and all you still landed the beast but failed to get any pics for proof because of the snake. You know us fisherman, Full of stories. And of course they're all true...
  19. I am not the seller, I just found it browsing. Thought this was unique, to say the least. Not for me but someone here might enjoy having it. Ebay link
  20. Yes that's it. I fished the River with the guys from The Boat Dock on Bull Shoals. I was there in the dog days of summer. I didn't get to fish Bull Shoals thought which I was really disappointed about.
  21. I fished that exact....EXACT same stretch of river as you. I recognize that building behind you. Caught all rainbows when I was there but nothing of the size of your fish there. Awesome table fare but trout fishing just isn't my cup of tea. I need to go up to the Milwaukee Harbor and catch some monster browns or steelhead. I also saw you were there earlier this year Jeff, now that I could do. Nice pics though. Looks like you had a good time.
  22. X2. Too much breakage with fireline. Especially crystal. That stuff is horrendous.
  23. I throw really light cranks on spinning gear, its just flat out easier to manage. I have a Chronarch 200e5 that I do manage to throw the KVD 1.5's on, but that's the smallest size I go to on that.
