My Day At The Chicago/schaumburg Fishing Expo
Search online for sales and deals now. I don't think you'll get the same type bargains that the fishing expos once used to have. I have no experience with Powell, I fish St. Croix rods exclusively.

New Shimano Metanium
If you use Chrome, it will translate the site for you to English. Helps a boat load in understanding what the heck we're looking at. lol. I actually really like the look of this reel.

2013 Improvements

Hawgtech
There was a 50E Chronarch on their Facebook page last night or this morning that looked pretty awesome. Piscidal, post that pic if you see this.

Major League Fishing Scales
My initial thought was that they (Berkley) were a sponsor. I however didn't see it on the list. So why they chose those..only the directors of the league could answer. Very valid points made though. Tight lines.

Major League Fishing Scales
Don't you guys think they have tested them prior to use? I would think they're smarter than that, then to just open up a brand new scale and hand it off. My assumption, would be they are all equally tested before put to use. Your assumption is that they don't.

Dear Abu Garcia Lovers...
So it's based strictly off of the materials? Well for me, my reel can be made of foam or some metal from Mars..matters not to me. What matters is the performance and life span. How do the high end market reels out perform a $100-$200 reel to justify the costs? That isn't a snide remark either, I am dead serious. Do they cast/perform that much better?

New Take On A Familiar Concept?
Not nearly as erratic like the disc shows in my opinion. It doesn't bounce to the left and right the same. That's what I like about it from what I can see. Scrounger jig heads are a great tool as well.

Help Me Spend Some $
I use my C4 6400 for musky fishing only. The stock handle is much too small in my opinion to throw large musky lures. I haven't used that reel in a while but I will be getting a bigger handle for it. I would only use that for bass fishing if I were throwing large swimbaits. Casts great.......if you're throwing 3/8 + like mentioned above. Not great if you're below that. My other Musky/bass reel is a Curado 300 DSV. I use that to throw smaller buck tails or jerkbaits as well as occasionally frogging with it for bass. It's one of my favorite reels for sure. Super smooth and casts a mile. I also have a Curado and a Chronarch. Both will reel in decent sized musky. I wouldn't intentionally fish for musky with them, but they will get them in or to the boat. I'd go with the Chronarch. It's a beautiful little reel. I love mine.

Dicks Sporting Goods
You can ask the fishing department to order in unsalted for you. I'm sure they'd be more than willing to do it.

Dear Abu Garcia Lovers...
While I see your point to the statement, I can't say I agree 100%. I understand the A to B concept, however a Diablo will get you there in half the time vs a Ford Taurus providing you don't mind breaking the law. Plus they have race tracks to bring super cars to and you can race them as what they were built for. So can the $500 reel outcast a $100 reel by 30 yards? Will it last 20 years longer? Or is it just simply built with more expensive components and thats the added value? Thats why I wanted someone to chime in that actually has one of these high end reels and uses it. We fish our reels in the same waters, with no rules...so what makes them superior?

New Take On A Familiar Concept?
Cool thanks for the info. I was thinking about the Gami Superline hook 1/8oz and a super fluke. I think with that set up it would suspend nice and slow or could be burned up towards the top almost like a wake bait. I think I'm definitely going to try it out this year. Looks like a neat little gizmo.

How To Skip With A Bait Caster? (Curado)
I think that the reference to the tension knob was to correct the statement about increasing your drag setting, not necessarily to mean that it was the proper thing to do. I can see how that got misinterpreted.

New Take On A Familiar Concept?
One thing I just noticed, it does show on their site to rig the disc between the weight and rig. Yours appears to be before the weight. Any reason to that? Better action?

Thanks for the heads up. Good information there!

x2 Actually condisering trying that out. Even on a double fluke rig.

Dear Abu Garcia Lovers...
Anyone who actually uses Steez reels or any of the high dollar reels alike, care to chime in on why they're that much better for that dollar value? This is a serious question. We're fishing for bass, not Blue Fin Tuna. I can see where a $500 reel might be necessary salt water fishing or for really big freshwater fish, but not bass. What puts these reels apart from your average market reels intended for bass or freshwater game fish? Part of me just wants to believe it's to show off.
