  1. I'm 30........I wish I was retired just to fish.......but it looks like I have an easy 35+ years of work left. Some how.........I need to land a job in the fishing industry because other than that, my enthusiasm for work is next to none.
  2. Heading to the ASA Schaumburg fishing show Saturday. Going to try and catch Ike's Hawg Trough seminar. Anyone else going today - Sunday?
  3. Get the terrova. I have the powerdrive V2...while it does what it should, I'd rather the Terrova hands down. I believe you can upgrade Terrova further than a PowerDrive as well. I am a firm believer of spending the most you can on trolling motors that your pocket and boat will allow. It makes fishing so much more productive when you have a solid, great working trolling motor. I wish they weren't so d**n expensive...I'd really like to upgrade mine.
  4. My kids are only 8 months. Sesame Street and Barney is like crack...nothing else. But I try not to let them sit in front of the tube too long. I try to have them be interactive as much as possible. When i grew up.......I watched Conan the Destroyer about 3 times a day when my grandma would watch me. I was obsessed with Arnold, specifically Conan the character.
  5. I tow with my '07 Ford Explorer 4x4 V6. I have a 17.5' Ranger R73 which I believe boat and trailer weight is ~2300lbs. The Explorer does good in the flatlands. I'd be a little more weary if I lived in a very hilly or mountainous place. If I ever upgrade my boat to bigger than that I'd definitely get a truck or something with a V8. But the 4x4 is a must for the nasty landings.
  6. I would settle for a MH baitcast rod if you're going to apply it to multiple techniques. I'd only get a heavy rod if you're flipping/pitching really dense cover frequently or throwing large swimbaits all the time. Your spinning set up should be fine for a general purpose rod. If you can sling it...I'd go with the Shimano Symetre 2500. It's a tad lighter and smoother of a reel.
  7. Jeff, if you plan to do above water plus underwater catch n release shots, you'll need to keep the full water proof housing on. If you plan to just shoot videos with commentary then use the waterproof housing with the skeleton door. They also have "The Frame" which houses your GoPro completely unprotected but allowing best sound capture. I would only recommend that if you're doing instructional videos similar to what Gene does. Even at that, the waterproof housing + skeleton door will work. Another tip....if you do a lot of underwater shooting or dipping of the camera. Put rainx on your housing lens. It'll bead off nicely and you don't got to worry about water interfering with your above water shots.
  8. I couldn't agree more. Hopefully our time comes soon.
  9. Wow quite the scary experience. Glad you weren't hurt any worse than you were. It's unfortunate things like that have to happen. It's funny how much more deeply I look at these things now that I am a father.
  10. Yes but most people are in their 50's or older that get held up or mugged around here. Older people tend to carry more cash than younger folks. They're also less likely to defend themselves or put up a big struggle. Most muggers are not complete morons, they pick their targets.
  11. I carry little cash, use my credit for gas or other large spendings, and I pay my bills with debit. My credit card is paid off every month. I get anxiety if I rack up debt.. It's safer to not carry cash these days, especially in Chicago, murder capital of the US. You can cancel and track credit........not cash.
  12. This couldn't be truer. I think that my closet has about 40 handbags in it. 2 or 3 of which get used. I have around 10 rods and growing and I get the same look.
  13. Nice Jeff! By the way, what GoPro did you get?
  14. Nice! Hopefully that's it. 54% is a good sign.
  15. Location does play a huge part. Cable internet is actually shared internet amongst your neighbors being that the source comes from a main line and is dispersed to each household. So in an area like I live that is heavily populated, one person consuming huge amounts of bandwith can be throttled or cut off even by the ISP. I can't speak for DSL or Sattlelite as I'm not 100% sure on it. I think what is happening is at the 17% upload its actually timing out his connection, forcing it to stop. I could be wrong....but that's the only thing that makes sense to me if he can view his file on media player.
  16. I believe your ISP could possibly be restricting your uploads if you only are showing .96mbps upload. That is really low. Are you on DSL/Cable/Sattelite? My upload speed on my internet at home is 7.4 mbps through Comcast cable internet. It's the only reason I keep Comcast because they have the best internet, hands down. If you can view your video in media player, then there is nothing wrong with it. The fact that it stops at 17% on each attempt leads me to believe you're exceeding a bandwith limit. http://www.speedtest.net'> Second time i did my test it was at 6mbps upload.
  17. That's pretty sweet. Those kids on that team have a real treat.
  18. That was my second thought. Your ISP might throttle your upload or even stop it after a certain mb upload if you have a very basic internet plan and your upload speed is very low. Can you provide more info from your internet provider? Getting stuck at 17% would probably mean the file is accepted so that shouldn't be the problem.
  19. Does the U-40 make it slick or does it maintain the natural cork feel? Definitely interested in getting some of this as a few of mine are in desperate need.
  20. What file format did you save your final version in? Supported YouTube file formats Not sure which format to save your video? Receiving an "invalid file format error message when you're uploading"? Make sure that you’re using one of the following formats: .MOV .MPEG4 .AVI .WMV .MPEGPS .FLV 3GPP WebM
  21. Sony Vegas is supposed to be a very good starter program for video editing. You can trial it but its pricey to buy. Another thing to consider is your pc. If you don't have the hardware to edit hd videos, you need to update that first. I have the Hero3 black and haven't really done much yet because my pcs are way out dated. I am about to pull the trigger soon on a pc. Once I get it, ill be recording everything. From what little I've used it, its a badass little camera.
  22. I use a Mojo 7' MH/F and fish very thick super dense slop. It works perfectly and casts great.
  23. I use 832 as well. Great stuff, lasts a long time.

I use a Columbia jacket/pants. I don't know the style off hand but it is pretty light weight and very comfortable to wear. I think it was around $100 for the set. I'm very happy with it.
  25. Yea, Ranger R73. I think i'll keep it out of there. Too much to worry about and I've never navigated on that River so I'd surely take something out. I have thought about getting some waders. Just haven't done so. I prefer to fish in Wisconsin anyway. I don't fish around here that much, but being that I have two little ones now, that keeps me at home more now.
