  1. Top water pop-r would be my go to choice lat in the evening the last 2 hours of daylight or so. I caught the fish in my avatar in a pond I could walk around in 5 mins I can cast all the way across it. The people that live on the pond feed the blue gill every day and there is some huge ones it so there is alot of forage. I think the popping noise the blue gill makes fires the bass up but this it particular to the pond I caught that fish in.
  2. The pros come to to Okeechobee and beat the local sticks all the time in the flw open tournements. The is usually atleast on local stick in the mix though.
  3. +1 the non weighted ones.
  4. Same here, I tie my own its not difficult with a bobbin tool it makes it fairly simple then a quick drop of epoxy.
  5. Yeah they do and the will destroy a spinnerbait quick. I think every bowfin I've caught has been on a spinnerbait.
  6. Good show I like watching them catch the 500+ pound fish.
  7. Its not uncommon to catch 50+ 1-2lbers with a half a dozen in the 3-4# range thrown in during the summer on lake okeechobee when they school up. I usually have 1-2 of these days a year. My best is 74 in one day.
  8. I use TW and tackletrap most of the time. I use the local tackle shop for consumables like soft plastics and hooks.
  9. Im with pretty much every one else 55-60 degress but the water rarely gets lower then that around here.
  10. This is how I do it I leave about 2 inches for the weight to move a little.
  11. This is the one I wear http://www.simmsfishing.com/sunarmor.html
  12. Its the same as a sun buff. I wear one because I hate wearing sunscreen, they keep you cooler and thye more effective in blocking sunlight then sunscreen.
  13. If durability is of no concern I dont think it would make much of a difference to me most of my fishing is done with moving baits. The only place I can see it be a problem is when you need to feel a bite like drop shotting. I think most people use higher end equipment because it makes fishing more enjoyable. Thats why I fish I enjoy it and using a nice rod and reel just make the experience that much better.
  14. Neither one is very difficult to install if you have basic hand tools and are a little handy. The hardest part will be running the wires for the depth finder. The power pole is easy.
  15. Most of the time he knows what species he is going after. The show where he treks way up a river in south america to a little lake to catch arapima was my favorite episode..
  16. Same reason I quit using it.
  17. The shimano stuff is pretty good I use cals drag greese. Its around $7 and I got it from the tackletrap the little container it comes in will probably last 10 years at the pace I use it.
  18. The advertised drag rating for most reels are way off anyways. A smooth drag is much more important then a strong drag.
  19. Im a big fan cara t7 rods, powell endurance, and dobyns champion rods.
  20. Im not saying it wasnt a bomb Im just not the type that is going assume it was a bomb. More and more reports are saying it was a bomb and that they have recovered a couple that where un detonated.
  21. No one knows what happened at this point I've read it was gas line explosion a couple of places but most are saying the cause is unknown.
  22. Need 4 have 8. My main set ups are 1. Flippin rod 2. Frog rod 3. Soft plastic rod worms and small plastic swimbaits 4. A medium/moderate rod for anything with a treble hook.
  23. An outboard is not static force it pushes the boat have you ever seen how much a outboard bounces around when running in rough water. Not to mention the force on the transom when going down the road hitting bumps or if you ever run a ground.
  24. The forces put on the powerpole brackets and their mounts are nothing compared to the 500# outboard hanging from it.
