  1. definitely a channel cat and definitely fun to catch. Catfish are very active predators and will not hesitate to destroy a bait. I was fan casting a flat once with a square bill and my rod got nearly pulled out of my hands. I naturally thought i caught a large bass until i saw him near the surface and realized it was a big catfish. I have also caught them many times on topwater on the fly rod while going after smallies.
  2. I am not referring to how he acts with teammates at all. I a talking about him constantly crying to the refs and in this game, yelling in the refs face and nary a penalty for it. Now the league lets him do pretty much whatever he wants so they are partly to blame but you never saw the old school guys yelling at the refs after getting sacked or hit like he does.
  3. he missed it i think but he definitely impacted the trajectory. I can't believe they let him do it twice like that. just stand straight up and level the guy lol
  4. And it isn't like they aren't already tarnished......
  5. he gets away with way more than he should.....yelling in the face of a ref like that should be an automatic penalty.
  6. i can't stand how much of a cry baby Brady is...
  7. if you can get into the hull just take it to an area that is completely dark and shine a flashlight on the inside of the hull. Light will beam out of the leak.
  8. i don't care either as long as it is the ravens
  9. wow, you are a brave person to drill that size hole in the hull of your kayak. How long have you had your set up like this? I just can't imagine it being watertight for too long through a lot of freeze thaw cycles. Couldn't water also come through the top if you water line is above the top of that PVC? Not to mention, i am sure you nullified your warranty by drilling through the hull ad potential weakened it as well. With so many options for mounting a transducer i just don't see the need for drilling through my kayak but to each their own....
  10. Go cast it if at all possible before you make a call on which weight to get. I personally prefer 7wt for smallies and go with my Sage Bass II LM for largemouth in any type of cover. It really boils down to what type of cover and what type of flies you will be throwing. As far as rod length, it is completely preference. Find what you like to cast and use that...i have rods from 9' on down to 6'6" and have no issues casting while wading or from my kayak.
  11. Kind of like those packs of Yum Dingers at Walmart that seem to be really cheap but they aren't as many in the pack as the normal bags
  12. or they could be fakes trying to be sold as the real deal or not full packs too....
  13. never used a duckett but i own 3 rage rods and i am a big fan....
  14. paddle as many boats as you can and be honest about how you will use the boat. once you figure that out buy the boat that gives you the most bang for the buck and serves your needs. Also i would probably not plan on blowing your entire return on your first boat....even when paddling a boat and checking it out, you really don't know what you want until you are in the boat 10-12 times in my opinion. the resale market on boats is pretty good so you can most likely sell the boat minimal loss later on if needed.
  15. I have a wilderness systems commander 120...great boat. I keep my rigs pretty simple. a few flush mounts a crate and a shoot through hull Humminbird pirahnamax.....hopefully gonna upgrade to a helix in the near future.
  16. those are some pretty dogs. They look like they are happy out there in that cold too.
  17. I currently live right outside of Richmond. I lived in the shenandoah valley for quite a few years during college and then a few years after that. If my wife wasn't so tied down to this area i would try real hard to move back there somewhere. Where i live now really isn't that bad though it just isn't the same as the Shenandoah Valley
  18. While i do not have experience in the fishing industry for sales reps but i have a lot of experience in the outdoor retail industry. What i will say is that it is all about sales and be prepared for lots of travel and limited time to actually fish. Many of my friends who were reps lost interest to an extent for the hobbies they had that are now work and they usually picked up other hobbies. I experienced this a lot when i was a fly fishing guide. i still loved to fly fish but i wanted to get away from it when not working, if that makes sense. your experience may vary but just wanted to throw that out there as food for thought....
  19. Thanks for the kind words everyone. I will have my certification in elementary education when it is all said and done. I have more experience with kids a little younger so this could be an interesting 12 weeks for sure. The best part, other than having summers off and being able to spend more time with my son, is seeing that the end is in sight.
  20. One of the schools i was doing observations in took a trip out to meet up with a DGIF employee at a local trout fishing hatchery and then to where the trout were stocked.....so it happens
  21. Does that type of temperature swing mess with the bass and their spawning times?
  22. I posted up that i was making a career change. It was time to move away from the corporate world and do something i wanted to do instead of something that didn't give e anything more than a paycheck. It was then that i decided i was going to get my masters in education and teaching certification. Well, it has been a pretty crazy time since then but i never stopped moving and never took a break from classes and even doubled up on them once so i could keep on schedule, all while working full time and of course the normal family stuff. I did lose my job so for a few months i just took classes and took a break while looking for a job. I did end up finding a job, that kind of sucks, who am i kidding, it really sucks but i know it is temporary. Well i am now two weeks away from finishing my last class and found out yesterday that i now have student teaching placement!! I was getting worried as three districts near me already declined my application but the last one came through. So in about 3 weeks i will being my 12 weeks of student teaching, 5th graders, and if all goes well i will be licensed to teach here in Virginia and will hopefully have my own class next September. So for anyone who is thinking it is too late to make a change all i can say is go for it...is it gonna be easy, hell no. is it gonna take some sacrifice most likely but in the end it is worth it....
  23. is there a measurement for sensitivity because if not, then there is no way to prove you're right or wrong other than the personal experience factor. For me, sensitivity is not nearly the same for bottom bouncing baits with mono or flouro as compared to braid. Braid offers me superior sensitivity and i know i have caught more fish because of switching over to it. Your mileage may vary but i have a feeling that even if you fished braid and liked it, you would never admit it.
  24. I didn't think it was income tax unless you took a cash equivalent, it would just be sales tax and all the registration and stuff...
