  1. Well went out today and while I didn't have my jigs I ordered I did catch about 8 on a swim jig with. 3.5" money minnow as a trailer, no size though. I guess that still counts, right
  2. Italian beef sandwiches are awesome. If you guys ever go to philly be sure to check out tony lukes roast pork sandwich....they make good cheesesteaks but their pork sandwich is incredible.
  3. This may be the post of the thread so far.....lol
  4. Man you are lucky to have a top 6....I only have one but luckily it is only 5 minutes from my house.
  5. Is the spool spinning when you pull out the drag ormismit just the line moving? If it is just the line then it is the braid slipping and you will need to add a little backing andmyournproblems will go away.
  6. LH retrieve here for everything for me which includes baitcasters, spinning and fly reels. Never made sense to me to switch hands like everyone else does. The option for ratios is somewhat limited but they are out there with the BPS pro qualifier having pretty much every ratio under the sun.
  7. I think it more depends on river versus lake. None of the lakesi fish have both. Some baits just work better for me in rivers than they do in lakes and vice versa. I also haven't had great success on large soft body swim baits for smallies but have on largemouth for sure. Now that may be because I think you can cover water better in a lake rather than drifting when you may only get a cast or two before you either drift by or eddy out somewhere.
  8. I'll be interested to hear what others say as I started using snaps last fall. I usually connect straight to the split ring and haven't noticed any difference from tying direct.
  9. I actually had those in the running too but i figured 8 was enough for now.....I also did an order with stankxbaitco for their hero craw and sidekick trailers too so within a week or so i should be set
  10. I haven't painted them but i do use my black sharpie that i keep on hand for coloring my braid to color them up. Haven't noticed if it helps one way or another but to me it just looks better on dark colored baits.
  11. I forgot about black olives...they are always a good addition as long as they aren't the super salty ones. I also remember as a kid getting a tomato pie when we would go to the shore which was always good too...minmal cheese and good sauce and crust.
  12. So here is my order Black and blue with blue flake head Okechobee with dark green pumpkin head Bluegill with watermelon head Falcon Craw with copperhead head All are 1/2 oz, grass head and i got one each rattle and one no rattle. I am still amazed at the prices too...8 custom jigs to my door for under $30....can't beat that.
  13. Thanks for the advice. I currently plan on throwing them on a 7'mhf mojo bass that i feel is actually a little heavier than the rating mated up with a 6.5:1 citica and 50lb braid that doubles as my frog rod. Now if i fall in love with jig fishing, i may just have to get a more specific set up
  14. Pizza lunch buffets are awesome....even if it isn't real pizza
  15. When i moved to VA from PA for school on my first night in the dorm we all ordered pizza. I wasn't feeling like pizza but i said order me some fries....they all looked at me like i had two heads and said pizza places don't have fries.....i said what the crap. I later then saw the papa johns delivery guy and that was my first experience....oh and papa johns is probably my least favorite pizza out there. There is a real good pizza joint here that i found after trying about 10 different places. I have a few criteria when i walk into a pizza place and this place hit them all... must sell pizza by the slice must speak italian in the kitchen must not load on a ton of cheese If I ask for a pie they know what ia m talking about and for a bonus if the place has kids running around of the owner and they are speaking italian that is always a bonus too I am now on a first name basis with the owner Sal
  16. So the bacon or cheese thread got me to wondering what is your favorite pizze both in style and in toppings. I prefer the NY style thin crust--not that crispy stuff either and here is my list of favorites in no particualr order plain pepperoni sausage, riccota and fresh basil roma tomato slices, fresh basil and ricotta Also all of these include a good blend of mozarella, provolone and romano cheeses.
  17. Definitely looking forward to it. The lakes i fish have a ton of grass and lilly pads usually so i figure i will learn to fish shallow first and then work my way deeper. I do have to say the main reason i am giving these a good try is because of all the posts on this site around jigs, it also doesn't hurt that my biggest bass of the year caught on New Years day was caught on one too
  18. Well after having minor success with jigs this winter i have decided to go full out and give them the attention they deserve. I placed my order with Seibert and am looking forward to getting my 8 jigs in 4 colors and all the same 1/2 oz size and all with the grass head with one of each color being a rattle and one the standard wire tie. Anyways, just thought i would share
  19. that makes sense. They one time i had to do this same type of thing it went pretty quickly, about 2 weeks, but my insurance company did not require me to pay the deductible out of my pocket either.
  20. i think another key to crankbait fishing no matter what type of action rod you have, is having really sticky sharp hooks. Alot of times a bass may swipe at a bait or have a near miss and having extra sharp hooks helps in those cases. It also enables you to not make a huge hookset which can tear a hook out of their mouth if not hooked well.
  21. Sounds like this is soemthign the insurance company needs to deal with, that's what you pay them for. You made a claim for the accident through your insurance and if they feel the need to be reimbursed they will go after her insurance company. I would call your insurance company and bring up the possibility of getting your deuctible refunded.
  22. ok, i wil l have to get some now as my fluke supply is pretty low right now anyways....
  23. Care to expand on why you feel it is better? THe main difference i see on teh descriptions is the tail being heavier to enable a level fall when the bait stops moving.....which sounds pretty good
  24. Interesting question. I wonder how far bass move when spawning. I know of a few smaller creeks that i fish that are tributaries of larger bodies of water that i only have success on in the spring and not sure if it is because of the spawn or spring time water levels normally being higher and allowing more movement. I am always shocked though when i hear the susky isn't doing well because every time i have fished there i am amazed at the amount of forage in that river. My dad and i did a 3 day float last year and when we would get out and wade with every step we woudl see tons of crayfish scurrying away. I actually snagged quite a few of the little guys when banging crankbaits on the bottom. One thing i do know, i am looking forward to heading back out there this summer and chasing some brown bass
  25. Not a fan of chicago pizza but growing up in philly might have somethign to do with that....if you can't fold the slice and eat it then it isn't pizza....it is merely a casserole....
