Does anyone else feel like they catch more quantity in current but more quality off of rock banks in slower moving water?
you are sort of correct but not completely. The example you posted for your fish isn't just a current break it is also access to food. Slack water in current is only caused by a current break so food will absolutely be pushed to them in these areas and they have to expend little energy to do so. The biggest fish get the prime locations in most rivers. Sure when fish are feeding they will be more mobile but hitting that time isn't as easy which is why i like to focus on both the active and the inactive fish near current breaks. I think the biggest key in river fishing is being able to read the river by surface movement and not having to actually see it.

Knowing Bass, how to temporarily get a copy
I removed my post and while I do not believe what I posted was infringing on any copyright laws, it is most definitely a gray area that is not worth getting into on here.

nothing wrong with current seams either. You have to think about what bass are trying to accomplish (outside of spawning time). Be safe from predators and eat. That is pretty much it and if you can find the areas they are doing that then you are good. Current seams are like a conveyor belt for food so they always produce but it takes a little more effort to sit there. Eddies a fish can sit and not have to expend as much energy and in summer the water is usually more oxygenated as well. I don't fish with live bait in rivers so as far as that goes I have no idea. I also primarily fly fish in rivers but dead drifting various flies is always a top producer for me. When i do conventional fish a killer technique is a nose hooked 4" stick worm weightless and dead drifted down through with the occasional twitch. You'll go through some baits but it flat out works. I had some custom made years ago that were double dipped at the nose just for this technique and to lessen break offs. I am more of a crankbait guy on the river but i have buddies who do well with spinnerbaits too. That is the fun part about river fishing, i think the majority of the time it is about getting your bait in front of the fish rather than which bait, except in winter

Kastking
I had one about 2 years ago and it is complete garbage. It got noisy after a few trips and the drag is real touchy and not in a good way, it is kind of on or off no matter how minute the adjustments. It is in the bottom of my tackle bin waiting to be either broken down and see if i can figure out what to do with it or tossed..... good luck with yours as two years in the retail world is time for a lot of changes to be made.

Best state for river/creek smallies?
I think I am hitting the area of the susquehanna around Harrisburg. Lots of wading and kayak water and is fishable year round with the right equipment. Good numbers and good size fish as well.

Eddies are the downstream spots after a large current break like a boulder. Water usually is calm and swirls and will even draw you upstream, look for the foam on top of the river as it can be a huge key in determining current patterns. You can usually get in one and sit without anchoring in current, you see it a lot with whitewater kayakers after a rapid as they eddie out, face upstream and wait for their buddies to come through. https://www.paddleeducation.com/whitewater-kayaking/the-anatomy-of-a-river/river-features-2/eddies/ One thing though is you want to start fishing downstream of where you think the eddie actually is because some days the fish will be at the tail end others in the middle and others over the top at the very front of the current break, you just never know until you fish it and find out. One thing i have found is that generally when you pick up a couple fish in a specific spot on 2 or more eddies, you can almost bet they will be in those same places in other eddies as well.

I should have listened - C-TUG kayak cart
I have a c-tug and upgraded to the wildy cart and my only complaint is it is large to store. Other than that it is money and I have zero complaints. I used to think the C-tug was the best and it was......until I changed lol. Both are solid though. The Ctug was always a pain to get in the perfect spot on my ATAK but after I put some pool noodles reinforced with some 1/2' PVC inside on the pad sections, it did make it much easier to load.

Frogg Toggs ok for summertime rain jacket?
If it is truly your goretex that is leaking (not likely) then it is most likely a warranty issue and I would contact the manufacturer. Having worked in the outdoor industry for about 10 years after college we saw a ton of people come in and claim their jackets were leaking and of the 100s we would send back, most times the customer would refuse anything else, and I cannot remember a single time the goretex was culprit. I did see some where the inner liner was worn through but most times it was simply the DWR on the outside that got work away which allowed the outer fabric to soak up moisture and effectively halt any breathability of the garment. Replace that and you will be good to go till it wears off again. All that being said, I am not a fan of frog toggs jackets as their fit doesn't seem to allow much movement. it also depends on your use of the jacket too though. Is it for protection when running spot to spot or are you in a kayak or bank fishing etc....running across a lake requires a different heavier jacket than in a kayak or bank fishing. I personally kayak so I use an arcteryx jacket designed for mountaineering and it is great but would not be my first choice for running at higher speed across a lake.

It all depends on the river and the bottom structure. I fish an area that has a pretty sandy bottom for about a mile of river. In this mile there are drop offs and sand bars etc. Any letdown or boulder in this stretch is a guaranteed fish but they are super spooky. My thought is they are on the only cover available so they are extra cautious. Upriver of that there is your more typical rocky gravel type bottom composition. Current breaks are key but there are lots of those so you gotta find something different that is attractive to the bass and why they want to be there. Sometimes it is a larger than the other boulders, other times it is a nice seam with a drop off downstream a little ways and one thing that always brings true is to fish larger eddies and do so methodically.

Kayak rod storage, dealing with trees
I have a similar situation pretty much every time out except I am fly fishing so anything high behind me will get snagged by my casting. I have ram holders and lay them near horizontal facing backwards.i have a couple feet of each rod past the stern of my kayak but it really isn't too much of an issue. I don't think you will grab as many behind you as you think unless you back into something and any that might grab would be easy to move out of the way as needed.

Effects of cicadas on fishing ?
you would think but i have been out when they are all over and the fish are absolutely gorging themselves. They aren't picky, they look for the splat and attack. Carp on the other hand will take a look at the fly for what seems like an eternity and then, slurp and the fight is on.....man this really makes me want to head out there.

Effects of cicadas on fishing ?
I am just outside of the major hatch but i have buddies who are absolutely killing it on cicada flies and the biggest culprit...huge carp. I might drive a few hours west next week and see if i can get in on the action.

Do you think George Perry's record is legit?
only problem is i would have to still catch a 10lber as it is minimum of half the pound test of the line strength. I might have to ask them though because I rarely use actual tippet for bass and just use straight mono or flour or copolymer so not sure if that would matter.
-
Do you think George Perry's record is legit?
I think I need to go ahead and catch the record but go for the fly rod record instead.....seems manageable, i mean the 20lb line class is vacant too.

Shift work vs Mon-Fri?
If this is a lateral move then as others have stated it is really up to you what you want to do. If it is a promotion or a lateral move that is a more leadership oriented role and that is what you want to do then that us the decision to be made. If it is a promotion, albeit with minimal salary, I have seen many people decline those types of positions and not be offered them again.

Tight Line or Slack Line hookset?
slack line hooksets are setting yourself up for issues as it introduces a lot of shock to the system. Not to say i never slack line hookset but generally I am reeling up slack then setting the hook.

Yesterday I saw more kayaks WITH motors than without.
I have one and would be happy to answer any questions too.....i have been super pleased with mine.

nice....lots of bass fishing flyfisherman too

Yesterday I saw more kayaks WITH motors than without.
is it an instructional video or just a defending himself video? i would seriously look at the NK180s for propulsion. Bixpy are great but they aren't as powerful as a more traditional motor and for about the same cost you can have longer battery life and more propulsion.

exactly...he would probably make a 10 minute video about it too lol

Yesterday I saw more kayaks WITH motors than without.
They used to be that way and motors were only for those with disabilities and it was touted as purity etc....fast forward to the head guy being tied in with torqeedo and getting a sponsorship for the end of season tournament and now motors are allowed and innovative.... I just motorized my kayak this year after fishing for probably close to 20 years without one and it was for two main purposes; my own river shuttle and on specific lake that has a 4+ mile paddle to get to where i like to fish and is always super windy. I couldn't be more pleased. I still find myself not using the motor when I get to an area and fish though, probably as much out of habit than anything. that is probably the Newport Vessels NK180S motor and while it looks like a torqeedo it is a bit different.......i installed one on my kayak this year

Kayak Fishfinder: Yay or Nay?
It is all about the tool to get the job done. if a 500 kayak does it for you great, if a 2k fish finder does it for you then great. I know for me, the only concern I have with cost is the budget I set but other than that it is about what I get doing what I want it to do. Speaking of which....my 6 year old Helix. 5 is due for an upgrade......

Post a photo a day!
First dance recital this weekend for my soon to be 5 year old....not a lick of stage fright as she was on that stage either. Blowing kisses to the crowd after she did her routine and everything lol
