Maryland's Who's who!
Spinnerbait bite was on over here on the Eastern Shore today. Caught 3 in about an hour around 6:00 at Tuckahoe Lake. One was decent. They were my first fish ever on spinnerbaits. Nice way to start my season.

Caught My First Fish Of The Season!
Went out today between 6ish and dark. There were too many people fishing the few open spots on the main lake so I went to a smaller pond thats tucked up behind it. The wind was blowing towards the bank I was fishing from and the sun was right overhead. Also I could see a new patch of lily pads starting to come in just below the surface. Started out throwing a jig (which I don't do often and am not that good at). No bites and I got it snagged and broke off. Then I tied on a chartruese Strike King spinnerbait and got a hit! It was just a dink and shortly after I got another small one. Caught a thrid one too that was a little better, about 14 inches or so (maybe about 2lbs...?). Then I lost my spinnerbait to an overhanging tree. Had another that was a similar color but had a big colorado blade instead of the smaller willow/colorado config on the first one. Didn't get any on that lure. Don't know if it was the different blades or the fact that the sun went below the tree line and wasn't beating on the water anymore. Maybe a little of both. Either way, Im really excited to be catching bass again, especially since these 3 were my first on a spinnerbait. I can finally leave the trout rod/tackle box at home! Sorry theres no pics. Like a dum-dum, I forgot my camera (as well as my fishing license) in the trout box.

Question About Wind Forecast/fishing
Ive heard people say that you should fish the shoreline the winds blowing towards. The wind blows in the smaller fish and the bass follow. Makes sense to me. Now its easy enough to tell which way the wind is blowing once your on the lake but lets say Im looking at a weather forecast and trying to decide which lake/part of a lake I want to go to. How do I tell which way the wind is blowing? Like if the wind is 15mph NW, does that mean it blowing towards the northwest or from the northwest? Sorry I know that was a bit wordy but I think you should get what I mean.

Big Stocker Trout
Nice! Wish the trout they stocked around here were that big.

Crazy Crazy Crazy, Pic Inside
Wow....the one on the right looks smaller than the one he's trying to eat. How could he even think that was a good idea?

Over Due?
I think I know what your talking about. It happens to me sometimes to. Theres a button in the top left corner of the reply box. Right above the bold button. It toggles the other buttons on/off. I click it sometimes by accident. If the other buttons are ever faint and unclickable, click this top left button. Should solve your problem.

Got Skunk On Me Saturday
I got skunked this weekend too. The major downside to bank fishing is that theres only so much water available to you and if the fish aren't there, then thats it. Hopefully they'll be moving shallow soon and getting a bit more active.

Another New Iowa Guy
Welcome! Ive never fished any farm ponds myself but I hear they can hold some really nice fish. I think the MD state record was caught in a farm pond.

Stinkbugs
Oddly enough, I have never smelled the stinkbug smell. And Ive crushed more than my fair share of them. I dunno. Maybe I just have a really poor sense of smell. In this case, I guess that makes me lucky.

Maryland's Who's who!
Went out Sunday morning for about 2 hours with approximately 0 bites. Wouldn have stayed longer but I had to get home and get some sleep since I had to work at 5. Went out a few times recently in the mornings with no luck. Gonna go out Thursday around noonish and try my luck. Hoping that the sun being higher in the sky will make a difference. They gotta start biting sooner or later.

Great Day Of Fishing...some Questions!
I don't use the rod to lift fish out of the water if I can help it. When I get it right up close to the shore (or boat if you have one) I grab the line a couple feet above the fish and then lift it out. If its a pike or pickerel, grab it behind the head or by the gills. If its a bass just lip it but if its a biggun, make sure you don't hold it horizontally becuase you could break its jaw. Broken jaw can equal dead fish. Then ues needle nose pliers to remove the hook. The pliers arent really neccesarry if its just a worm hook or something but they're a must for treble hooked lures.

Question About Rod Action
Ah...thank you. I kind of assumed longer rod=longer cast but I didnt' realize it was a trade off between distance and accuracy. I may look into a longer rod. Since I do all my fishing from the bank, that extra distance would open up a good deal more water to me.

Question About Rod Action
Thanks for that Hooligan. So heres another question. How much more castability would I get from a 7 ft rod as opposed to a 6'6'' rod of the same power and action? Does that extra 6 inches really make that much of a difference?
