  1. My last day I got into a school and caught 76 bass . 52 from one spot . Lots of fifteen inch keepers . A 6 lber was the biggest and a three lber was second . Most of the fish are in the 13 to 16 inch range . If I had hit this spot earlier in the day I may have hit 100 . The depth finder was loaded with spaghetti shaped fish signals . I should have taken a photo of it just to show what a school of active bass look like . LOZ , I dont expect to catch a lot , I never have but I'm hitting it when I expect some bass will be active shallow . I plan on fishing it my way and leave the spinning rods in the locker .
  2. Sometimes its hard to connect the dots . Thats why we keep going back .
  3. I keep casting until I get one in there .?
  4. Guido Hibdon use to fish brush with light line . He would gently pull the bass form the snags then set the hook .
  5. I'm set in my ways but need to start doing this .
  6. Next week I'll be staying at a resort at Lake of the Ozarks called Breezy Point . If the storm gets that far north I'll sit under a fake palm tree and drink beer .
  7. I had one of those , maybe that was my first .
  8. No . I'm not a good caster and need all the help I can get . So when I'm making short tosses into cover I'm just a better fisherman with a half ounce bait .
  9. I use 1/2 ounce almost exclusively simply because I cast that size the most accurately . I pour my own and like a 4.5 main willow and a 2 Colorado. Lately The main blade has been gold and the Colorado copper simply because I ran out of the others . That combo with a greyish skirt has been real effective .
  10. Well , the lake I have been fishing ,the shallow bite tapered off . I went deep ,20 to 25 foot and found them .
  11. I dont remember . I had an Ugly Stick that was part graphite . I had several of the first Lightning rods , still have three or four .
  12. Monday I'm heading to LOZ for a week so i'll update my total . I surpassed 1000 . Fall fishing has been exceptional . One day I'm catching them in the back of creeks on buzz and spinnerbaits ,four days later 25 foot main lake with cranks .Thats fall fishing for you . total bass caught 1038 spinnerbait 406 worm 177 toad 140 crankbait 82 beetlespin 81 buzzbait 63 lipless crank 46 jig n grub 40 jig n craw 3
  13. My team flopped like a spawning carp .
  14. Sounds like 1/4 ounce Beetle dspin water to me . I use them .
  15. It just depends on what you are fishing . What cover , what structure? It makes no difference time of year , water clarity , moon phase , wind speed , direction , cloudy , sunny , rainy .... If I'm fishing algae its going to be with the same lures . Brush piles , laydowns , rip rap... I pick lures depending on where I think bass will be found . I'm often wrong but its a place to start . I can suggest lures but they may not apply to where you fish .
  16. Purple for everyday , everywhere .
  17. One of my favorite lures for fishing off-shore structure . All three sizes have caught deep bass for me and also whites , channel cts , blue cats and drum .I just had a spectacular three hours with the big 3/4 ounce Red Eye Shad in about 25 foot of water, just like several other times in the past few years . I found the fish with a depth finder . As soon as I saw the spaghetti looking signals near the bottom I knew the fishing was going to get good in a hurry . Throwing a Dredger 25.5 through them several bass were caught then the action slowed . Picked up a RES and just cleaned up . Three times i landed doubles and also the biggest bass of the year . Hopping the lure like a worm it shimmies on the fall . Many times the bait never reached bottom on the initial fall .Fishing from an aluminum boat I can hear stikes in 25 foot of water . Sometimes I can hear the lure going tic, tic , tic as its falling . There are few lures that I rave about like this but when the bass are schooled on structure like they were that day that Strike King Red Eye Shad just flat out murders them .
  18. It gets tough and every body of water is different . I might get skunked too if I were fishing the same water as you .My point was Fish were everywhere on my depth finder , the only ones I tried to catch were the ones relating to good structure , in this case a point . I just lucked out but I knew this was a good spot for bass .I caught them there in June too . The photo you show would not excite me . There is a ball of baitfish but it looks like a bunch of suspended fish of what species who knows . I would take note that they are mostly shallow between five and ten foot try to get something going at those depths .
  19. Night fishing is for when its too hot for day fishing .
  20. Fish will be everywhere on a depth finder . Theres a lot of fish in a lake . I was fishing from a 14 foot john yesterday with a portable depth finder . Fishing was slow so I ventured out on a point . The point drops down to a flat about 25 foot deep and the sonar was full of signals relating to the bottom next to the point on the flat . I caught almost 50 bass out of that school , hopping a lipless bait through them .
  21. In have blades from an Excalibur spinnerbait that has been on several new lures . They probably have accounted for 200 or more bass .
  22. 6.2 according to the digital scales .
  23. I've started retiring spinnerbaits before they get in that shape . I have extra pours ready to have the blades transferred to them .
  24. Sexy shad is pretty darn good . I like the chartreuse sexy shad a lot too .
