  1. I expect to get a 4 or bigger fish every time out, most are 14 to 17 inches .
  2. This is the type of tourney I like to watch . A grind out not a shootout .
  3. Lizards any brand and French Fries any brand have worked well .
  4. Having to miss fishing because of injury or illness is a pain but it could be worse .
  5. I dont know how to do it and just go by feel at what speed to retrieve . I use to catch a few bass on bridge pilings counting down grubs and retrieving slow.
  6. Wendlandt Lester Kennedy Cherry Crews edited : changed at the last minute Feider Lester Zaldain Cherry Crews
  7. I'll answer later. We should have a rookie of the year thread too .
  8. Neato! Is this your idea ? I have not seen jigs like this .
  9. Most are 1 to 2 lbs with a good number over 15 inches . I usually get a limit over 15 inches . I have caught plenty of 6 & 7 lbers but not this year . Early this year someone asked how many fish we caught in our lives . Everybody had a hard time answering that . I took a guess at 40,000 so decided to count how many bass get caught this year just to see if I was in the ballpark . Seems like a reasonable guess .
  10. Purples and blues have been my go to colors for decades and still are . Green pumpkins and avocado green just have not performed well for me . Bright greens have though .
  11. Thats about 5 lbs heavier than my best dock fish .
  12. The areas devoid of bait fish should have hungrier bass .?
  13. I usually dont get much fishing in after October . 1000 should be reached easily . I'll hit a local lake later this week , hopefully , and add 40 to 60 more .
  14. I was out of action for three weeks with a pinched nerve in my neck . Last week I got out twice and caught close to a hundred largemouths at a lake and add a few smallies from a river bumps my yearly total too 907 . Its early fall and largemouths are being caught in the back half of creeks on spinner and buzzbaits .I'm heading to Lake of the Ozarks soon for a week, maybe I'll hit 1000 while there .I dont expect to catch a lot as I havent been a very successful dock fisherman in the past. I plan on heading way up a river and fish areas more to my liking . 907 bass caught spinnerbait 335 worm 177 toad 140 beetlespin 81 crankbait 76 buzzbait 55 jig n grub 40 jig 3
  15. I was the same way a few years ago , I only knew the veterans , so thats who I picked and did terrible .
  16. There are 4 events left and you can sign up now for this next tourney . They give away prizes for each event . Just go to Bassmaster.com and find the fantasy fishing part .
  17. Thats not what I mean . Its hard to find a bass casting rod with a beefy foregrip . I had to order one . I cant use a rod without one . I ordered an Okuma
  18. I did it once last year with success out on a point . I could see the bass on a depth finder but could not get them to bite . I rigged a swimbait , don't recall the brand , on a regular jig head and let it fall to the bottom . Then lift and keeping the line tight , let it glide back to the bottom . If I let it fall straight down they wouldn't hit it .
  19. Another fat river fish caught on a suped-up Beetle Spin .
  20. Mark Twain Lake , same thing .
  21. Heres what happened to me with the same exact problem . It wasnt the reel , it was a cracked line guide at the tip . It would reel in nice and smooth until the lure was hanging below , then the line would drag in the crack, which just happened to be at the bottom of the guide .
  22. I have three of the Bantam Curados 200b's that I dont use anymore . I tried one last week and it sits too high and felt cumbersome . They still work well but its difficult to switch back and forth with lower seated reels .
  23. My buzzbait rod broke in half last week during a cast. It was a 7 foot med action and a little too bendy but it sure scored well with hookups . I just ordered a new 7 foot mh . I rarely cast a buzzbait as far as I can , so a shorter rod works best for me . I have a 6'8' rod that I like to throw buzzers on but that rod has settled in as my spinnerbait tosser .
