I use a 6'9" mh rod , 17 lb test trilene xl and a 6.3 to 1 baitcast reel . Pretty basic setup . 4.0 to 5.0 offset hook .

Frog Times
Mornings for me . I was nailing them yesterday morning before the sun started beating down on the water . After that I still got explosions but they were all closed mouths or something . I've notice that a lot in the two years I have been fishing them .

Fantasy Fishing 2020 - Official Thread
My points went up today but my ranking went down . I got the 40 bonus points for Zaldain but so did half the field so my ranking dropped .

Confidence
Enthusiasm plays a big role in my fishing . What I lack in skill I make up with enthusiasm . I just think I'm going to catch fish . Even when I'm not catching them I still think I will figure out something somewhere somehow. I fished with guys who are ready to call it quits after an hour or two . I'm in it for the long haul .

Spinnerbait trailer keepers?
I take a 1/4 inch hole punch and poke holes in a bicycle inner tube . I use those little disc to hold plastics in place on a hook . Works great to keep a toad hook in the slot, better than skin hooking. I havent used it to hold a trailer in place but it would work .

Worm question?
Caught a limit of 15 inch keepers yesterday on an 8 inch blueberry Jelly Worm .1/4 ounce weight . From 1 to 10 foot deep , brush and points . They just get the job done .

Eatin' a little humble pie--difference between pond and reservoir fishing
Its always been difficult for me to figure out a large reservoir in a short amount of time . I'll try the obvious structure that gets pounded then try different types of banks . I most always catch something . Then some days ,I'll luck out and get something going .

Worm Time
That is so frustrating but I think its the fishes fault . Last week I was nailing them on a toad then the sun came out . After that I had a hard time sticking one . At one point I missed ten in a row . Then as the day grew longer I started sticking them again . My rod is just a traditional 7 foot mh that one would use for wormin . I did spool it with 50 lb braid and that helps a bunch . Its the only rod I have with braid .

Worm Time
It use to be but the last several years deep diving and yo-yoed liplesss cranks have held their own . Then the last two years Toad fishing has caught a lot of bass . I'd say in the past few years worms have dropped to number three but it depends on the day and where I'm fishing too . I still have those days where the T-rig is tops , its just not as often as it once was . The worm is still just as effective its just I up'ed my game in other areas.

Thinking about making my own soft plastics
Its a unique bait and it worked pretty good .I need to make some more some day .

Following up short strikes
I have had terrible success with a backup cast .So I just fire the same lure back out there and try to do something different with it , like killing it where the strike occured .

Line for jigs
For jigs and Texas rigs I use 17 lb test Trilene XL clear blue fluorescent . It is only .15" thick and I can "see it" . I like Big Game but I have difficulty seeing it .

Trilene XL clear blue flourescent .

Thinking about making my own soft plastics
I use to make my own design . I whittled the shape out of a piece of wood and made a two sided plaster of paris mold . Then melted my used worms and poured in . I have two or three other carvings that I never made a mold for . I actually sent some of my worms to Bass Pro but never heard a word from them . I imagine they went straight to the trash bin . They were pretty ugly .

Dinks - what tackle?
I've been to these type of ponds . It doesnt matter what lure to use as long as its small . Often you catch a bass and there will be others following it . I use something cheap and save my expensive baits for another day . A Mister Twister Sassy Shad on a round jig head is another good choice. Might as well fillet some and improve the pond.
