  1. But what changes do you make when bass are just not commiting . They are nipping or slashing at a bait , maybe getting face hooked . This happened to me last fall while throwing a spinnerbait . The bass were not taking the lure very deep and I witnessed two bass just nip at the tail . I removed the skirt that was chartreuse based and replaced it with one absent of bright colors . Tada! No more nipping , the bass took it deeper . The same thing has happened with other lures too .
  2. ...and if you hold the line with index finger and thumb , it will slice your finger to the bone on a hook-set, if one forgets to let go . Thats why I dont use it .

  4. There is flipping and pitching . Sometimes they get confused . I predominately pitch .
  5. I like a red crankbait at night . It probably appears black but I have success with them .

  9. They are much smaller . I imagine I'll get a little bit higher hook up percentage with them . Plus they are noticeably more sensitive .
  10. I still use mono . I bought some tungsten late last year . I figure I dont lose that many rigs , so I bought 40 dollars worth to get the free shipping . I like tungsten a lot . I bought some straight shank hooks last year and lost my biggest bass of the year . The hook did not penetrate the six inch jelly worm . It was a thick heavy cover hook . I immediately replaced it with my dependable thin wired offset hook .

  13. Thats a difficult question to estimate . Some years I have caught a thousand or two or three other years in the hundreds . I'll estimate a thousand a year for 42 years . I'd say 40,000 is close .
  14. I thought so to . What is everybody's favorite wood for ribs . I'm using apple for the first time , always used hickory or mesquite before .

  20. You could get the Abu black max combo at wal mart for 70 dollars , then you would have to learn to cast it . Some 12 lb test Big Game then make sure lures fall in the range the rod is rated for .
  21. Being bass are often unpredictable , I like being prepared . I have my laydown baits , standing timber lures , weed lures ,flats lures , points lures , rip rap lures ...
  22. I acquired a smoker two years ago and make top notch ribs . I havent perfected pulled pork yet . Its good but not real good . Cooking outside is something I enjoy especially when margaritas are involved . Think I'll some some ribs this week .This thread has some mighty fine looking food .
