  1. Knowing what lures to attack cover with is essential . A person can catch plenty of bass staying shallow fishing visible cover, junk fishing . Inexperienced anglers ask what lures are the bass hitting , experienced anglers ask what lures will effectively fish the cover encountered . Off-shore structure fishing can come later .
  2. I dont deer hunt but have my Dads 270 and no ammo . May have to buy a box , not for defense but to fill the freezer . I own an 870 , 30 inch full choke .

I have had good success with red cranks at night but I think they look black .
  4. My business has shut down . I'm prepared for months of idleness . As long as the grocery stores keep restocking and there is no hyper-inflation . My biggest concern is my Mom . Do I visit her or not . This is tearing at me . She is 83 with a bad heart . Shes use to me being there several times a week .
  5. A small pond that is stunted with dinky skinny bass , that may be the only big bass in it . Invest in a fillet knife and thin it out to grow more big bass .C&R is not good for some waters .
  6. With bluegill colored skirts I like gold willow leafs . If bass are hitting it good then great . If they are nipping at it then small changes are made . If they are not hitting it then big changes are made .
  7. I carry one gear bag that holds 6 boxes and I have them stuffed . One is terminal tackle and jigs, One is lipless and squarebills . One is for long lipped cranks . One for spinner and buzzbaits .One for top waters and one for misc. lures .I stuff the pockets with packs of soft plastics . I'm probably only going to use a few lures a trip ,may just use only one or two . I wont know for sure what they are until I'm on the water and fishing . My crankbaits for example , cover the water column from 1 to 25 foot . Theres been days where I had crankbaits tied on four rods all for different depths and all catching fish .
  8. I like bobber stops too . A couple of times I forgot it was on and it slid up the line . I could feel it go through the guides on the cast and I'm thinking "what the ---".

I havent had a lot of luck with red either . I prefer chartreuse . Uncle Josh use to make an orange pork frog that I used on a jig if the water was extremely muddy .
  10. When we get some good stable weather I'm loading up the truck and go camping for a couple of days . The small river visited will be flooded and I have access to this spot where a creek dumps in creating a huge eddy . All types of fish will congregate there . I'll tight line with worms and some stink bait . Try for a bass or two up shallow . I wont even need toilet paper , paper towels work better .
  11. Same as Mobasser . Catching that first bass on a Texas rig .
  12. I already stated that the jig n pork frog caught my largest . My largest smallmouth was on an unknown popper . All I know it had a Japanese name and the rear hook pulled out .
  13. Its funny but when I was a bank fisherman , the Thin Fin was a top shelf lure. When I became a boat angler I havent caught anything with them . Dont even know if I still have one .
  14. I like to use them as a top-water twitch bait or reeled just under the surface .
  15. I cant do them either and I have good split ring pliers too .
  16. I use to use those a lot in farm ponds . It was the first bass lure I ever bought .Quit using them when I discovered bait casting gear . I still use the Rattlin Thin-Fin. They are heavier and cast well .
  17. I have no clue . Its a boat ramp . There is no personnel needed , no-one to come on contact with . Don t know why Twain is being singled out . The rest of the states lakes are open .
  18. Those look exactly like a Rapala Crankin Rap , so much so that it must be the same molds. I use them a lot . Tight action and they work great .
  19. At Mark Twain right now they are installing gates on the last two ramps that are open . I speculate that when finished all of Twain will be closed except for maybe kayakers .
  20. That was March 17th . March 18th they closed .

I carry a Cannon sx720HS with 40 power zoom . Its small enough to fit in a shirt pocket . I have a small tripod in my gear bag . Set the timer for 10 seconds hold up bass and get picture .
  23. There are only two ramps open at Mark Twain lake they are run by the state , the corp closed the rest . I speculate the state will follow suit .So Mark twain will be closed .
  24. Corps closed all ramps at Mark twain , probably everywhere. So much for social distancing .
