Big worms for big bass?
I have a couple hundred 8" jelly worms in blueberry . Its a good size for both quantity and quality . I have caught thousands of bass on the six inch size , the 8 inch is a size I just started using the last two years and its worked well .

Winter fishing
A couple of days into a warm spell Big bass will sometimes move shallow on sunny banks . I target steep banks. Fish in the afternoon . I personally like to throw a crankbait in a crayfish pattern . Parallel cast the bank and retrieve excruciatingly slow .This is a good way to get a lunker to bite. I like Arbogast Mudbugs but they are no longer available . A Wiggle Wart would be a good choice .

If you could only have one lure
The reason I choose a Lizard over a worm is it can be buzzed like a topwater .

Switch Baits or Change Area-how to determine which is the problem
I dont know , I'm just guessing . I have limited experience in dock fishing . But when I do go to a lake that has docks such ad LOZ or Table Rock I choose docks that are in shallow areas . Look at topo maps and find docks that are less than fifteen foot at front and shallower in the rear . Docks that are in deep water I pass on .I want to be able to fish all the way around them and hit bottom . I wont stick with a spinnerbait for thirty docks unless something is caught ,choosing instead to mix it up . I really like jigs on docks and will stick with them longer than other lures .

Switch Baits or Change Area-how to determine which is the problem
Its just a guess . With me I'll have several rods rigged with lures that will fish the cover or structure I'm facing effectively . So its easy to lay one down and pick up another . You mentioned rip rap . A lot of lures fish it effectively . Crankbaits , spinnerbaits ,buzzbaits are my favorites there. Texas rigs work too but they are constantly wedged , so they are my last resort . If I dont catch any with the selected lures its time to do something else .Whether its wood , weeds , algae , rock , docks, steep contours , flat contours there are several lures that excel there .

What weights do you use for timber/laydowns?
Bill Dance, on his shows ,says to always use the lightest weight you can get away with . Larry Nixon says he tends to use heavier weights because he said it gets more bites on a faster fall . Go figure . I fall in the Larry Nixon camp .

Light lures
I dislike to use spinning too but it is necessary . I/8th ounce and less I use spinning .

Missing four of five?
I grew up vertical jigging for crappie in brush piles along the Mississippi and backwaters . I held the string between my index finger and thumb to feel bites while using cheap fiberglass rods . When I ventured into bass fishing , still using fiberglass , I employed the same tactics and still do so today, except glass has been replaced by graphite . One clue for beginners . If you feel the slightest tap as the lure is falling , any lure , that is most likely a strike . If you feel the tap when lifting the lure that could be a bite but more likely a limb .

Favorite Brown Worm-Not a Senko
Looks brown to me . Motor Oil is just a label .

Missing four of five?
He holds the rod handle behind the reel when retrieving a bait . I think that would make it difficult to detect strikes .

Tube fishing for largemouth
I forgot all my soft plastics one time . So searching through my stuff i found a bag of black Gizits . I Texas rigged them and didnt miss my other plastics a bit . Caught many bass on points and in wood .

Tube fishing for largemouth
Tubes work well for largemouths . i usually just Texas rig them and fish them like a worm .

What weights do you use for timber/laydowns?
I have a hard time pitching Texas rigs with anything less than 1/4. A 5 /16 is what I usually use . I use a lot of 1/2 ounce jigs . If I want a faster or slower fall I usually switch lures instead of weight .
