  1. I have a hard time pitching Texas rigs with anything less than 1/4. A 5 /16 is what I usually use . I use a lot of 1/2 ounce jigs . If I want a faster or slower fall I usually switch lures instead of weight .
  2. I was skeptical until I tried them but Tungsten weights increase sensitivity .
  3. One thing about the Homer Circle film is he holds the rod by the handle , it would be difficult to detect a strike that way .
  4. Motor oil Jelly Worm .
  5. This is the sixth year I started this thread . I should look back at the other threads and tally them up . You can separate species if you want . Largemouth , spot or smallie . This year it was a Stanley Ribbet , 6.47 Lbs largemouth.
  6. i think its worse when you dont see them . When they jump and show themselves at least i get a good look at it and know I almost had a big one .
  7. One time I was fishing jigging spoons off the end of a boat ramp and landed two wristwatches , a dip net and spinning rod/reel . The watches were Timex and Seiko. The Timex was still running .
  8. I cant answer because I dont know . In a small lake i fish often the max depth is 30 foot . During the summer the thermocline usually sets up around 15 to 20 foot . This past November when the thermocline was gone and water temp at 42 degrees I caught bass at 25 foot. The deepest I ever caught them from this lake . One year at Mark Twain lake ,late in the fall , I caught them at 40 foot which is a lot deeper than the summertime thermocline which is usually 12 to 25 foot . Water clarity has a big influence and the water is often clearer during the winter .
  9. Thats a good idea , making a lifetime supply then selling the mold . I use to fish tail spinners a lot but havent used one in probably ten years . I use blade baits some. I may do the same thing with a blade bait mold .
  10. I dont know the anglers that well .
  11. Nine bucks . I plan on never spending 10 dollars on a fishing lure .
  12. I wont have any more insight then as I do now . If an angler cant make it or is impaired I can still change .
  13. State limits use to be more liberal and Bass tourneys used limits set by the states . When states cut their limits , many to 6 fish a day, tournaments went to a five fish rule to stay legal .
  14. The Berkely lineup of Dredgers will cover depths from 5 to 25 foot . I have caught bass on all of them except 8.5 which is only because of the lack of playing time . When I bought my first order of every size , I chose Fire Tiger for the stained water I fish . They have done well and I caught bass down to 22 foot .
  15. Heres a complaint about BASS coverage . They need a play by play guy that breaks down what the angler being highlighted is doing . Everyone is a color commentator .
  16. I'm in again and after several minutes of grueling research my team has been selected .
  17. Its a French made Vivif . They use to sell them in the back of magazines . i bought two when I was a teenager and never caught a fish on one .
  18. Wide wobbling baits work in cold water too . Just reel them in slow . Arbogast Mudbugs have a wide action and I have caught a few lunkers with it right after ice out .
  19. He would have to search for them . I still have several . I like them in cold water.
  20. Thats a great deal , especially if they can be had for 25 bucks .
  21. Plug knockers will not work from shore .
  22. Force myself to pick up a spinning rod every once in a while .
  23. Mine has paid for itself several times over . Its the one David Fritts endorses . Lews Getrback lure retriever .
  24. Be nice if everyone would include what lure they used . This war 6.47lbs caught on a Stanley Ribbet .
