  1. Soft plastics excel in deep water .
  2. I know an angler like that . He even weighed my fish in a tournament . I was young at the time and let him get away with it . He had trophy's from tournaments out of state that he never even fished in . He hired a guide to fish with in a club tournament . I dont know what causes this type of behavior . Maybe an inferiority complex .
  3. I have my fingers crossed and hope for a full recovery .
  4. I'm better at real fishing than this Fantasy stuff but it has got me paying attention to the BASS circuit again .
  5. I havent caught a bass on a chatterbait but I havent used them very much .After a few cast I switch to a spinnerbait . I just dont trust the chatterbait in the places I can chuck a spinnerbait .
  6. Little Beetle spins should keep you busy .
  7. Another tournament I bombed in . I have one angler fishing tomorrow . Gary Clouse in 31st place .
  8. Not much of a chance . Thats a good eating size . I eat all legal fish that are bleeding badly . Even if its a lunker , if I think its going to die there is no sense in letting it go to waste .
  9. Ive been using the Ribbit too . I probably have a 40 per cent hook-up rate . The hooks I have been using are some heavy flipping hooks and a Parasite clip , I dont even know what size the hooks are but they were almost too long . I'm going to try the Owner screw lock hooks . What size for the standard Ribbit ? I have heard 4.0 , 5.0 and 6.0 .
  10. I went fishing yesterday and that wire loop was in the way . I just clipped it in the middle , then grabbed the wires and pulled them out while wiggling back and forth .
  11. Caught on a Stanley Ribbit in the grass today.Largest bass i caught in about three years ,6.5 lbs . . I was lucky to land her . My drag wasnt set correctly and she was buried. Had another big one but I pulled the trigger on her a little to early .
  12. I have a couple of rods with hook holders I decided to remove because they get in my way . I thought about clipping them off , then I would have two sharp little wires sticking my fingers . i thought about bending them or cutting the wrap that hold them in place . What would be the best way ? I hold the grip in front of the reel and the little wire loops make it uncomfortable .
  13. Its working fine more me . I removed an angler and added another just to see if it works .
  14. It seems spinnerbait fishing is kind of a lost art with the growing popularity of swim jigs and chatterbaits . I've noticed a comeback with them on the Bass Elites this year .
  15. You won a truck !? Thats great .
  16. For the entire year spinnerbait by far . Last time out it was plastic Lizards and Stanley Ribbit .
  17. It depends on where the bass are at . I'm still catching them shallow in vegetation and wood , so slow rolling under them would not be very productive .
  18. I'm going to have to invest in side scan one of these years . I do it the old fashioned way . See a likely spot on the point such as fish ,cover , irregularity ... toss a marker buoy near the spot then fish that area , usually with a Texas rig and crankbait . The cast may be uphill , downhill or across . If I dont hook up in about fifteen minutes I move on .Often I fish the entire length of the point out to the thermocline , searching for fish . In that situation I also employ a Carolina rig with 3/4 ounce weight . Then I like to position in deep water and cast on top of the point .
  19. Both ways work .
  20. I would like to find the old style shimano Compre with the cork foregrip .
  21. I need a new 7' mh action casting rod with a foregrip . Foregrips are hard to find any more but I noticed the Okuma Reflexions has a beefy cork one which i prefer . What is the general opinion of these ? Are they lightweight ? I hate to order a rod without holding one first .
  22. I never thought of using a bead to resemble an eye . I have painted eyes on my weights before with black and white nail polish . Three eyes so one is always visible . I dont know if that got more strikes or not .
  23. My mom has caught it before just doing our laundry .
  24. I dont fear much but chiggers are horrible little critters . The bites last over a week and never stop itching . Ive had hundreds before . Stinging Nettles are common around water edges but only itch for about thirty minutes for me . I never had poison oak or ivy .
