I'm a dink slayer and sincerely think I could compete on the MLF circuit but not the elites .

I use to have some orange Uncle Josh pork frogs that I would use with a brown jig and it worked well . I dont have any orange baits now but I'm sure there are brown and orange craws available . There are lots of brown/orange craw cranks in production .

In recent years it seems the spinnerbait had fallen a little in popularity . So far this season in BASS Elite events , it has made a huge comeback . By my best count now , I have fished three times this year and caught 1 bass on a Texas rig , four on a crankbait and 120 on spinnerbaits .

In money events on large reservoir's tried to get a practice day or two in and try to find a spot that held fish , shallow or deep . In my early club days and usually on small waters , I mainly went shallow junk fishing . Put my trolling motor down and leave it down .

Docks , pads and laydowns . Lure choices should be whatever will navigate these snaggy areas effectively . Options that come to mind are anything Texas rigged , spinnerbaits , weightless plastics , frogs ,buzzbaits etc.

The average bass anger doesnt have time time to fish everything . Its not that I am bad at fishing a drop shot I just dont have the time for it . I have accumulated quite the amount of tackle over the decades . Now days ,something has to really appeal to me and fill a niche before I purchase it.

What crankbait ? Some cranks are easier to retrieve then others. The discontinued Crankin Raps that I use a lot dont have much drag resistance .

How heavy a weight will it keep in place ?

I use to use the heck out of them .First was the eel . Then I started using the frogs and Spring Lizards . The frogs were the best .

I practice by knocking honey bees off dandelions .

I use a 3/4 ounce egg sinker and usually dont feel the tap like on a Texas rig . Its mostly pressure I detect . How that compares to lighter weights , I cant say because I dont use them . I think lighter weights would detect bites better .

Not really . There are some lures and techniques I have never thrown but Like MoBasser wrote , I throw what I know works in the places they excel . The Carolina rig for example , I use it as a search bait , to cover deep water fast .Thats where it shines .

I have worn out four spinnerbaits and a buzzbait since last fall . I save the blades and skirts and put them on freshly poured frames .

I never let it set for more than a few seconds . Sometimes , if I'm over a limb , I'll lift it and jiggle it then let it settle back down . I might do that for a minute .

I cringed just reading it .

I think my chances of catching a five lb plus bass is better if I catch 50 bass instead of two .

I like to watch the strategies involved when fishing for the five largest bass . Even when its slow . Heck , I''ve caught tens of thousands of bass so watching the supposedly best bass anglers in the world targeting one lbers just dont do it for me .

It would be very difficult to punch in the pond down the street . Its covered in " gorilla snot' . If thats what you are dealing with keep throwing your weightless senko .

Fish hold facing into the current . Against the current would be backwards to the fish . Sort of like driving down a highway in reverse .
