Worms For The 2019 Season
I've been trying to use up my supply of soft plastics but it will never happen . I have accumulated way to many .My top soft plastic worm has been a 6 inch Manns jelly worm in Tequila Sunrise . What is it about purple and Missouri ? It seems like most times a a member from Missouri mentions soft plastic colors , its some sort of purple .

Any Tips to Catch Bass During a Heavy Mayfly Hatch?
This topic was discussed recently by one of the pros during a tournament . I dont recall who . He was trying to imitate bluegill with his approach because the bluegill were feeding heavily on mayflies .

LETS DANCE TONIGHT
I the 80's Bassmaster had an article about the Musky jitterug and how it was a great nighttime big bass lure . I bought one and never caught a bass on it . I have heard several explosions but they may have been spooked carp .

lightest weight lure
Everybody does it differently but when I fish from shore I carry one rod and reel only . Which one is based on the location but it will usually be a 7'0" med action rods with 12 lb test and lures that will cast easily . One rod is a lot less hassle .

Windy Day Fishing
You gave three clues about the water you fished . It was windy , clear and full of vegetation . You didnt identify the type of vegetation , that can make a difference in lure selection . I'm assuming you are targeting vegetation because you mentioned it . Windy , and clear will certainly effect lure selection but the lure "must" be effective in the vegetation . Some vegetation is hardy enough that crankbaits can be fished in them . Some any type of treble hooked lure makes it almost impossible . A lot of people have mentioned spinnerbaits and that is a good starting point in wind and vegetation . Lure selection is something you have to connect the dots to come up with choices , which is not that difficult . In clear water a spinnerbait in a natural bait-fish pattern with smaller willow leaf blades would be a good starting point.

I use to do the same thing . LOL I carry three knives . A Swiss Army knife , A knife that clips in the front pocket that opens with one hand and a Leatherman that opens with one hand .They are all kept razor sharp .

Bass fishing
Your fishing rod should tell you the lb test and size of lures to use .

What is your all time favorite top water?
I havent changed my pick , its still a buzzbait and has been for decades but Toads have really been good to me lately . This lake i have fished forever , for the past two years has had a chara algae explosion and i've had to change tactics . The backs of some coves are completely choked out and those toads over the top of mats and in sparser areas have been getting hammered .

New to drop shotting
I wouldnt be tying it . I would slide it on , attach a bobber stop , then tie an overhand knot to keep it on the line but still pull off if it gets wedged . That would make it a nice straight set-up with no spinning . I also have some of those VMC drop shot hooks with the swivel .

New to drop shotting
I'm going to practice drop shotting because I'm planning an Ozark trip later this year . I just havent used it around here but in the clear rocky lakes I know its a staple . i have a drop shot combo . : What line works well ? : Could I use a bullet weight , bobber stop and tie an overhand knot on the end ? It seems to me that would work exactly the same as an expensive drop shot weight . : In my practicing I'll be fishing in stained water , where 6 inch jelly worms work extremely well . Any reason I have to go to a smaller worm ? Or is there a reason to use tiny worms . I have hundreds of jelly worms .I could always bite them down a little . Any other advice would be appreciated . Heading to Table Rock or LOZ for a whole nine days , seven full days for fishing in late Sept maybe early Oct .

Shimano rods
I just ordered a 7'0" MH Clarus . The handle looks to be slightly shorter {I hope it is } and it has a cork fore-grip which is something I demand in casting rod . I have two old 6'6" compre's which are good rods . This will either be my wormin rod or my Toad rod . I cant go longer than 7 foot because it wont fit in the back of my truck diagonally, perhaps a 7'2" would . If I like this rod I may purchase more . Its almost impossible to find rods with the shorter handle and cork foregrip , this is the only one I can find .

Windy Day Fishing
The cover , in this case vegetation is the primary consideration for choosing lures . The wind and water clarity would be secondary .So what lures fish well in vegetation and not all vegetations are the same ? Spinnerbaits , buzzbaits , frogs ,toads , texas rigs , Johnson Sillver minnow are all considerations .

Probably asked 100 times...
I use Big Game for most applications . On my worm/jig combo I use Trilene xl , only because it come in clear blue fluorescent . I dont like not being able to see my line when I'm bouncing a lure .

Help with spinner baits
When they're hot they're , when they're not they're not . This spring I was catching close to 100 per cent of my bass with them , now they are not working so well .

Toad hooks
I have only used the Ribbit three times now but tried rigging it several ways and styles of hooks . This has been the best way I discovered . I use the small size parasite clip , it works better than the large size and these weird shaped hooks I bought a long time ago . The point on them is pointed toward the eye .I dont know the size or manufacturer .

Numbers Bait
Going after numbers or size , use the right tool for the job . I have lots of lured that catch quantity or quality . Buzzbaits , spinnerbaits , plastic worms , crankbaits , toads ....

Silly bass
I had it happen a couple of times last week using a Ribbit Frog . Like others said ,probably not the same fish .
