  1. It doesnt take long to tie a good knot and the line should be inspected and retied often anyways . Learn the Palomar or trilene knot .
  2. I use whatever is available . Craws and twin tails get threaded on a lot but have used worms and Lizards too. I use about any color except red and white in the shallows . I get to many sunfish nipping at red and white .
  3. The surface temperature changes throughout the day . There can be a 10 degree difference in just a few hours .
  4. Because the lake i fish most had an explosive outbreak of skunk weed my usual offerings that rely heavily on crankbaits and Texas rigs did not materialize . This has been a year dominated by buzzbaits and spinnerbaits . While most anglers cried a belly-ached over it , some adapted and had a good year .
  5. I'd like to give the duo realis a try but that price tag. Ouch !
  6. Thats the way I feel too .
  7. All right Catt . Heres the correct way to hold one? .
  8. Try lures that will fish in and on top the weeds effectively . A weightless worm with the hook buried and frogs are a couple .
  9. 100,000 bass boats ! Congrats on the jig catch . It only gets better from here .
  10. I think of finesse the same way as you .
  11. Bass sure can fool you . Sometimes that rat-a-tat-tat is a keeper bass , sometimes a dink . I have caught a multitude of bass on worms , craws... and still cant tell the size by the way they hit . I rather strike out swinging than looking .
  12. I never had much success fishing bottom bouncing jigs and soft plastics in white , I dont know why .
  13. Are you fishing from bank or boat ..? are you fishing public lakes ,ponds..?
  14. Thats the way it is here to . Shad are so thick they are in the coves and main lake , they are everywhere .
  15. I once set the hook and the bass jumped on the other side of the boat I was fishing . My buddy laughed his tail off .
  16. Beetle spin ought to become a major sponsor . My Uncle Steve could compete in one of these events .
  17. So let me get this straight . I have never watched MLF . They dont have a creel limit ? You catch 50 one lb bass you have 50 lbs ?
  18. Championship fishing with Virgil Ward came on every sunday . After every episode he would demonstrate in an aquarium how he caught the fish . he used jigs , Beetle spins which is a jig , and other sinking lures and he always bounced them off the bottom . That just sunk in .
  19. They stay deep longer also . Lots of bass are caught close to the boat .
  20. There is no temperature where bass start hitting crankbaits in fall , bass have been hitting them all along . Yesterday the water temp was 70 degrees and there was an angler camping out on a deep point I like to fish . I assume he was catching them or he is one stubborn angler . I caught 32 bass shallow mostly on buzzbaits . They were scattered from the main lake to the back of arms . My depth finder showed fish everywhere between 20 foot to shallow . So I'm assuming water temps and oxygen content has become stable from the shallows to about 20 foot .
  21. I have been catching fish on jigs since I was a little kid . Crappie jigs and Doll Flies for crappie , white bass , largemouth bass and walleye on the banks and backwaters of the Mississippi river . So when I got into boat fishing for bass it was just natural to continue to use jigs . I read in the fishing magazines to bounce them off the bottom so thats what I did .
  22. I like Berkely Dredgers .There are six different sizes that I use from 5 foot to 25 foot . One thing some people dont like about them is they are not highly buoyant . Some of them even suspend .
  23. Reminds me of the Monday Night wrestling wars when WCW took a lot of the talent from WWF . WWF is still here WCW not .

I once caught a 6 fish 15 inch limit on six cast , so it makes me chuckle when people say texas rig fishing is too slow .
  25. I didnt bother to choose because its different every year .
