  1. They are still biting in Northeast Missouri . The surface temps have stalled in the low 50's and bass numbers have been good .
  2. I caught 31 more today and 30 of them were on a spinnerbait . I didnt wear enough clothes , no sun and a light north wind had me freezing but the bass were hitting .
  3. Late fall , early winter with temps that low I fish slow . I have done well with crankbaits fished as slow as I can stand it , spinnerbaits the same way . Jigs , worms and one time and this was a rare event I got on a buzzbait bite during a snow . The bass had shad corralled in the back of a cove and I tried a buzzer and surprisingly the bass were all over it .
  4. Everything that swims recently posted some fish that he caught 23 foot on the Dredger 25.5 .
  5. The Dredgers touch down at advertised depth . I have caught bass at 22 foot with a Berkely Dredger 25.5 on 12 lb Big Game ..
  6. I can see that working .
  7. I like to fish small public lakes . I can usually pattern bass much quicker than on large reservoirs . The one i have been fishing is 200 acres .
  8. Get out while you can . I caught 74 bass in two trips last week . 73 came on a spinnerbait . Both days had high bluebird skies , light north wind and water temp in the low to mid 50's . I hope to make it a couple of more times in november .
  9. What about the water moving up and down in the hole ?
  10. You're being too sensitive . He might just be having fun with you . i have a friend who caught a giant bass out of a privately owned strip pit . He took measurements and had a mount made .I swear this bass had to weigh 12 lbs and i trust he was honest with his lengths . He only lies to stay out of trouble. LOL Any way ,in jest ,I told him it didnt count because he caught it in private water , a place most anglers dont have access to . Boy , did that upset him .
  11. Norman Weed Walker .I have never used it but that is how it was designed to be used .
  12. The bite didnt materialize for me this year but one of my favorite ways to fish is to work a Red Eye Dhad like a worm in deep water . I do it from a jon boat a lot and I can actually hear the bass hit it at times and feel nothing . Its crazy , hear the smack , jerk the rod and fish on .
  13. Me too . I tried ice fishing once last winter . The ice was popping like a gun and the water in the hole was going up and down . I couldnt do it .
  14. I dislike the MLF format of counting every fish though some folks will love it . I like the strategy that goes into trying to catch the biggest five .
  15. 23 foot and the 25.5 Dredger reached them. I have all the Dredger sizes, they flat out get down and stay down.
  16. I have yet to catch a bass on a chatterbait . Everytime I approach a brush pile or lay down , I put it away and pickup a spinnerbait .Old habits are hard to break .
  17. That is opposite where I fish . The water is usually much clearer now than spring and the bass are usually feeding pretty good .
  18. I've had a lot of luck on a perch colored Fat Rap and there are zero perch around here .
  19. I gave a kid a bait casting rod and reel for his graduation gift . I took him fishing a month ago and got the hang of it in an hour .
  20. Pick several lures that will effectively fish the cover and terrain that your lake has to offer and use them all . Dont let the cooler temps intimidate you . Bass are likely to be awaiting prey to ambush so covering water with a spinnerbait and crankbait are good choices . Earlier this week first day of a cold front I tried crankbait , plastic craw , buzzbait and spinnerbait . I caught 1 on a buzzbait and 41 on a spinnerbait .
  21. I had to substitute a spinnerbait for crankbait because of a massive out break of skunk weed . Havent missed a beat .
  22. I guess I dont know where big fish should be . I've caught them on steep banks , flat banks , points , humps , channels , wood , rock , weeds, , in coves , points of coves ... they are liable to be anywhere .
  23. Rook ,Vinson,Avena
  24. I went yesterday with a mild but chilly north wind , high blue bird skies and water temp 54 degrees . Shallow bass were taking spinnerbaits hard but none of these fish were fat with shad . I'm kind of confused about that .
  25. I have found schools like that before but only half that deep . Absolutely nothing there and catch bass by the dozens . I return to the spot several more times and nothing .
