  1. I forgot to mention Veenie Weenies The chances are good that theres a can or two still in my boat from last season .
  2. July , August , and September at Mark Twain Lake is catfish time as long as the water is in decent condition . I find the channel cats and sometimes blues cats with a depth finder on large main lake flats . They are easy to spot . They can be caught by the dozens .
  3. The water is usually to dirty for me to bed fish . When I do get a chance I use a lizard because thats what I read to do . I have caught exactly zero fish with them on visible beds . Next time I'm just using whatever soft plastic lure thats tied on .
  4. When Im tight-lining I'm doing it in good places . There usually isnt much waiting .
  5. I cast it easily . Theres a lot of weight in that section of worm . I'm guessing the entire thing weighs 1/4 ounce .
  6. How many of you have used sticks as sinker stops ? Use a two inch long stick throw a few half hitches around it and "walla" .Thats how I was taught and thought everyone did it .
  7. You're right .Game wardens watch this place closely . I watched a guy snag an asian Carp accidentally . He put it on a stringer and the agent made him throw the invasive species back .
  8. My weakness is casting . I am not even close to the pros . Overhand I rock , pitching I'm OK but those little fore-hand loop cast they make look so easy , I dont do that if pinpoint accuracy is needed and I never have figured out how to backhand a cast .
  9. Me too . Now I have to keep theblood sugar level . I take a sub sandwich and eat it slowly through the day . A bite hear and there . A few Snickers bars are in the cooler if I feel I need sugar along with crackers and maybe a hard boiled egg . Im not a diabetic , yet , instead I have low blood sugar . Ive been drinking Glucerna in the morning . That stuff keeps my blood levels in good shape for a few hours . I'm thinking of adding a bottle of that to the cooler
  10. My cousin and I were pushing off a rental boat at a public lake . He only has one leg [ lost it in Nam ] . He twisted his back pushing the boat . I asked if he wanted to go back in ,but no , he wanted to fish . I could see he was in pain, sweat started dripping off his face . About thirty minutes in , he could not take it anymore .He told me to take him to the bank . He got out of the boat ,laid on his stomach and asked me to massage his lower back , so I proceeded .I couldnt say no to the tunnel rat . He was grunting and repeating " harder ' . So I sat on his back and started rubbing him with my butt , hes still groaning and repeating " harder ". Any way , theres a boat tied to a tree in the middle of the cove and he untied his boat and left . I can only imagine what he thought when he saw one guy on top of another , moving back and forth , hearing the grunts and the plea of " harder ".
  11. I use this with casting gear and 12 lb test . I take a 1/8th ounce road runner and add about an inch and a half to two inches from the middle of a senko type worm, not the ends .The worm is wider than the narrow roadrunner jighead so the weight doesnt get wedged the worm does . I can almost always pull the worm free . Its short , stubby and ugly but it works .

Ive never done it but people insert pieces of styro foam shipping peanuts in them to get them to float .
  13. Its against the law to purposefully snag any fish below a dam on a small river that I fish often but everyone does it "accidentally' . All one has to do is hop a jig off the bottom and Asian carp will be snagged . Its quite fun reeling in 50 lb plus fish with 12 lb test on a light hook crappie jig . Most of the time you are just holding on .
  14. I understand why people think carp are yuk because they are compared to other fish . Us poor river folk acquired a taste for them .
  15. I once caught a bass on a jig and cigarette butt just to make a point. Being I only did it once and used just one brand ,I can confidently attest that Salem's are the best .
  16. .The fact is once light waves cease to exist then " They do not exist". No ifs or buts .
  17. There was the time my uncles colostomy bag became unplugged . Thats all you need to know .
  18. I would tally that as a skunking . LOL Lizards dont count . You are correct about rethinking natural colors . I use to seine my aquarium critters and had some real colorful fish and crawdads . Google orange throated darter . Beautiful fish that come out of the creek .
  19. Its going to be awhile before I use those 20 footers ,probably July .
  20. Black jig orange trailer
  21. I went ahead and ordered the Dredgers , one in each size all Fire Tiger .
  22. I played with a Neko rig in the kitchen sink using a jelly worm and a dry wall screw . It was interesting .
  23. Those are some giant carp . I wonder what the slang for giant carp is , you know like toad or hawg for largemouths
