  1. #1 T rig plastic worm #2 Med diving crankbait 5 to 10 foot #3 shallow diving crankbait 1 to 5 foot #4 deep diving crankbait 10 to 15 foot #5 spinnerbait/ buzzbait
  2. Anybody know who made this lure? It has the action of a lipless crank but sinks like a Little George . I think it might be by Mann's .
  3. I have some brand new Lee Sisson balsa wood crankbaits . Three new in package and one i made about two cast with . I did not like the action , so they are just collecting dust .
  4. ... and then you finally snag into one and it turns out to be a big shad and you wasted a whole hour in that school . Done that before .
  5. Yep and just experiment with them.Sometimes after I let it settle , I will reel it in a few feet then let it sink back down . Other times I hop it . Small heavy spnnerbaits or any sinking bait can be used .
  6. I also learned a lot from Harry and Charlie . Who remember what Harrys favorite bait was ?
  7. Yep , Carolina rig with a 3/4 or 1 ounce weight .
  8. A lure that has quickly become one of my favorites since I started using it late last year , the Rapala Crankin Rap CRR 14 . The one I have is Fire Tiger . It easily dives to 12 foot stays there , has a tight action and is easy to retrieve . I picked it up on the clearance Rack as they have been discontinued . It has caught so many fish that I found some old stock on line and ordered nine more in three different sizes . I think these may have originally been Storm baits by the way the rear hook hanger is underneath the lure , the way Storm use to do it . The two biggest bass I caught last year came on the square bill version at night . When I get this shipment in , they are going straight in my tackle box and something has to come out .
  9. I have a lot of tournament stories .I actually had two marker buoys marking a ledge and twoo tournament boats stopped and fished on top of the buoys . There was this one team that fished in the same circuit as my cousin and I .Almost every tournament we fished , no matter where we we were on the lake , they would show up shortly . It happened so often that it was no coincidence . I was talking to another team who were probably the most successful on the lake in those early years and they had the same story about the same two guys .
  10. Same here. I like fire Tiger , perch and other but a shad bait really works well in deep water and shallow .
  11. 6 inch Manns Jelly worm. My new favorite color is tequila sunrise. My eyesight isnt as good as it use to be and I have a hard time seeing the seams to get the worm perfectly straight . With the laminated Tequila Sunrise its easy to get the hook rigged in the middle .
  12. I troll crankbaits and catch as many channel cats s bass . Man theres a lot of catfish in these parts .
  13. A lake I like to frequent always have some bass shallow . Days I cant find them deep then I seek out shallow cover . One of the best spots on the lake are these three shallow stumps . What most if not all the anglers dont realize is the water between the stumps is two foot deeper . I never see anybody else use a depth finder because private boats are not allowed . Just casting in the middle often produce a lot of bass . Some days a large population of the bass are between 5 to 8 foot deep . I catch them by throwing mid diving cranbaits when I'm traveling from one piece of cover to another .
  14. Instead of slowing down where bass can get a good look at the fake bait try speeding things up . That works sometimes . Burn a small spinnerbait as fast as you can .
  15. The bass died while it was under your wife's watch . Hmmm. Dont leave bass alone with her anymore . Bass lives matter .
  16. On the lakes I fish the thermocline is usually 15 to thirty feet . On clear water lakes it might be 50 to 60 foot deep . I fish down to the thermocline . I cant recall ever catching bass deeper . Last week the top of the thermocline was showing up at 17 foot . I caught bass 12 to 17 foot deep on a point .They were schooled out there , 12 to 15 inch bass . It was a whole lot of fun .
  17. My dad got me fishing . Virgil Ward probably was my best teacher . At the end of every episode , he would demonstrate the lure he used in an aquarium . Almost every show , no matter what the lure , he was raising it and letting it fall . That has become my strongest suit , bouncing lures off the bottom . Lipless cranks , spinnerbaits , spoons , T-rigs , jigs , grubs , Little George , Gay Blades.......
  18. I believe you had a big fish but when you state the exact weight , thats just impossible to verify . Good luck next time . Catch that big girl and report back with a big grin on your face .
  19. Just ordered 9 Rapala Crankin Raps because the are discontinued . They have quickly scaled the hierarchy in my crankbait box . Too bad they dont have a twenty foot model .
  20. Another bait I had to Google .
  21. I fish small Missouri Conservation lakes that are all over the state. Sometimes I catch up to 100 bass a day with large bass often in the mix . I think a lot of readers dont believe me . I just love fishing those pint sized lakes .
  22. There you have it . Senkos are heavy and cast well on bait casting gear . You just need to practice a little more and you will be casting them like a pro .
  23. I Ive never caught an animal or bird . I did have a bunch of bats hitting my line the other night .
  24. I like the old Pico Pops , Chug Bugs and I have an old Rebel that looks like a Pop R only twice the size . I use the large ones on windy days . Smaller ones on calmer days . So you should have both .
