  1. The way Nitrofreak described it , I dont think there was a pack, just millions of baitfish and not much chasing them . .
  2. My technique is to catch a lot of bass and sometimes I'll hook into some big ones too . I'd rather catch 50 fish and 1 lunker than three fish and one lunker .
  3. You have FLS bass ? I dont know that term .
  4. If you just want to catch some fish get some live bait like worms , grasshoppers ,minnows , grubs... , put them on a hook and have some patience ,I grew up fishing for bull heads carp , channel cats , crappie ... I collected my own bait . The local bait store would let me have dead minnows which I would fish in the Mississippi river on the bottom for channel cats . Learn the basics and learn them well and you will catch lots of fish .
  5. They used the Little Green Box .
  6. You might be releasing to late. You need to release a baitcasting reel earlier than other reel . Try casting it straight up i the air .
  7. Sometimes when I go night fishing , they bite at twilight until complete darkness , then there is a lull . Often it picks up real good around midnight , So , go try again is my advice . .
  8. Bass fishing can be as simple or as complicated as you make it . The vast majority of the time I use a six inch plastic worm . Shallow ,deep ,wood , rock ... Craws, Lizards , tubes ... will all work in the same places too . Whatever floats your boat .
  9. Theres days where a creek arm will be filled with millons of shad everywhere with an occasional bass busting them , thats a regular occurrence on Mark Twain where I fish a lot . I just ignore them and fish as if they are not there .
  10. I"m interested in how light waves get absorbed in water and how colors may simulate a basses nerve center into striking . I have watched your videos and found them informative .
  11. You said the baitfish were jumping all around you but did not mention why . I'm assuming they were being chased by bass or were there just millions of baitfish at the surface ?
  12. I was watching one of the Bass resource videos and the overly enthusiastic host was calling cover structure , I could not bring myself to watch anymore . I've searched Youtube several times for certain techniques only to find a squeaky voice kid sitting at the table telling how to do it . LOL
  13. I usually go a couple of times a year . I try to pick a calm full moon night Structure like points , humps , shallow flats and rip rap banks are my favorite places to target .for two reasons .First they hold big fish , second they are easy to fish . Casting along the banks can be productive but I always end up with a lot of lures in the trees , laydowns...
  14. Private lake with big bass , standing timber , and vegetation . I think bass would be anywhere and looking at the photos , I would be wearing some buzzbaits out .
  15. Sure , especially in current , just enough to keep the bait down .
  16. At this stage , I dont work on it , it just happens . I know where the bass are on the lakes I fish .I can read a depth finder for information and just go fishing . I'll often try something different but theres always a reason behind it , some thought process that suggest to me what to do to catch more , bigger or at times any fish . The more one fishes the quicker he/she is able to eliminate what is not working . Every trip is a learning experience . My cousin and I went fishing monday and before we made even one cast , we had two marker buoys set out and both of us hooked up on the first cast . We fished there an hour and left the fish that were still biting to try for some better quality .Experience told us that the spawn was over and the fish were moving deeper . We tried some new spots without any luck . I usually try something or some-place new but again , its not haphazard , theres always a reason behind it . We found some better quality fish in a creek channel lined with stumps . The fish , were not on the stumps , but in the middle of the channel . The channel was 8 foot deep and the edge where the stumps are was 6 foot deep .We will remember that . The bass preferred two foot deeper water over the nearby cover .
  17. I bought one at cabelas that holds six plano boxes , and has enough pockets for a good supply of soft plastics , camera , marker buoys ... It was only 30 to 40 dollars. I got it at Christmas time , its 80 dollars regular price. Its the yellow and grey fishermans series .
  18. I take turns with the guy in the back to get the first cast at good pieces of cover . Whoever get first cast better make it count because it then becomes fair game .Me and my partner have a lot of fun fishing this way especially when the buzzbait bite is hot .
  19. I hopeyou have many , many more fishing trips with that wonderful partner .
  20. I did it one time with a floating Bomber Long A Minnow and caught a couple of fish I 'll probably do it again some day.
  21. I get in the water. Even on lakes where it is prohibited . I'd rather break the rules than get heat stroke .
  22. I only did it once. Crankbait came flying back after an attempt to unsnag it . I was able to push it through and clip it.
  23. I fish for carp often . I like to chum the area with whole kernel corn. Use a couple of cans and save some for bait . I use a 7.5 foot flipping rod baitcaster and 15 lb Big Game . I tie a small octopuss hook on a Carolina rig and a 1 ounce weight . Then bait with two or three pieces of corn .After the cast I reel all the slack out then put the rods in holders that the carp cant pull out .Carp spook easily , so I use this to my advantage .When the carp sucks in the bait and feels the resistance of the heavy weight , it will bolt and because the line is tight it will hook itself . The rod will lay flat , like its going to get pulled in but I haven't lost one yet . It gets pretty intense , they fight spectacularly .
  24. I have never seen that . I have seen the boat lying on the boat ramp .
  25. I want a new crankbait One that wont snag One that I can throw in the brush and not be a drag I want a new crankbait One that looks cool One that catches fish all day Everyone in the school One that dives any depth that I want it too One that looks as good used as it did when it was new Im in love with you . Now Huey Lewis will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day .
