  1. If you want vibration go with one blade . I dont understand why double blades are so much more popular than single . In my opinion the single is the more versatile and superior fish catcher . The Strike King Midnight Special is the only one I see at the stores now days . I modify my own double bladed lures and like to use a single willow or a small turtle back blade . A small turtle back blade puts out a lot of vibration for its size and has done well for me .
  2. I think fishing logs are great for other people . I've never did them . Bass are so predictable and unpredictable at the same time , that I think a log would be a waste of time for me .But I would like to know how many fish I have caught .

I'm still trying to find my favorite . Theres an old plug that is my all time best but they are no longer made . The Rick Clunn baits by Luck E Strike have done well for me .
  4. A quick way to undo most backlashes , so you dont have to pick at it .Put pressure on the spool with your thumb and turn the handle two or three times , then just pull the line out .
  5. On sheer bluff walls I always parallel cast various lures . If I have trouble with bass staying hooked then I would make some changes . In your case maybe switch from a Trap to a rattleless Red Eyed Shad , Bayou Boogie , swim bait ... You get the idea . .
  6. If theres a good population of bass , I catch fish quite frequently . Up to a hundred a day in lakes . In ponds several will usually be caught in the first hour, if the conditions are fair . .
  7. I can only remember one time it didnt work . I lost a prized Rebel Dee Wee R . Got it snagged is a sunken brush pile . I think it was tangled in some string .
  8. Well if panfish are legal , i'd grab some Beetle spins , a spinning rod and go bass fishing .
  9. I have an almost 100 percent success rate using this one . .
  10. Deep woods Off or similar product always work for me . I venture into some heavily infested areas . My camper is on Mississippi rive backwater . Right before dark you can here the skeeters about ten yards overhead . Get the Off ready because they will start attacking in minutes .
  11. I think the fish in the photo is a crappy taxidermy .
  12. I often hop the jig all the way back to the boat .
  13. I have a bluegill , crappie, bass , shad and crawfish . They are all stunning and I will not use them .
  14. ^^ I have several of those Natural Ike's and Bagleys Naturals . Those Bagleys are beautiful lures .
  15. Just hor the heck of it I Googled bass crappie hybrid .
  16. No rule of thumb for me on this topic .
  17. If theres a good population of bass in the waters you fish , you should be catching some .Like in the other post try some Texas rigged worms . Cast into any and all snags . Bites are usually light and take some time to recognize . Lift and drop the worm . If you feel a slight tap when it is falling you have a bite . Do not hesitate , reel in most of the slack and give a solid hookset . Eventually you will learn how to detect strikes by feel , visually , and instinctively .
  18. In 25 years , what lures have been your most productive ?
  19. You dont need everything . Learning basic skills is far more important than having dozens of new lures . Get some basic 6 inch plastic worms , hooks and bullet weights and learn how to Texas rig . You will not reach the next level until you get proficient at it . The day I caught my first bass on a Texas rig was the single most important day of my bass fishing life . It will open up a whole new fishing world . All those lures you have are great lures but if you dont know the Texas rig you dont yet know how to fish. I'm partial to Manns Jelly worms They have been serving me well forty plus years . .
  20. My big three are crankbaits , Jigs / T-rigs , topwaters . But spinnerbaits on those windy days , Little George on those mud flats . They all catch big bass .
  21. I think I make better choices now without having to think about it . Just seem to be in the zone more .
  22. They make a lot of other lures that go through weeds better than crankbaits . Dont force it . Change to something else .
  23. Wait . you can guess the weight of the fish shown on a fishfinder ? I cant even tell what kind of fish they are .
