  1. I could have voted buzzbaits because they are my favorite and funnest bait to use. I voted soft plastic because I catch far more fish on them .
  2. I only use wide gaps on fatter baits . A six inch jelly worm I use a 2.0 or 3.0 offset worm hook . I dont skin hook with them either , bury it .Skin hooking with them with those hooks causes the worm to be kinked .
  3. I dont keep score . Th more tore up my thumb the better the day .
  4. They stuff the worm in their mouths with both hands . I see them and purposely throw the worm several feet away . Then crawl it slowly along the bank . They go for it every time. I have yet to see a bullfrog let a plastic worm , lizard ...go by .
  5. Bullfrogs cant pass up an easy meal. I saw one grab a sparrow and take it under .
  6. I have several old Strike King spinnerbats with the old style blades. Also have a bunch of blades to add to baits. The funny shaped willow leafs they use to make .
  7. Take a bath in tomato juice .
  8. Have you taken off yet with your trolling motor still down ? Thats always a funny one to see .
  9. does it have teeth ?
  10. Or you could go this route . This is a Bass Baby and it has wheels . I can take it anywhere i can drive up to . Bottom picture fishing in an irrigation ditch .
  11. They just dont weigh much . If you cant buy a new bait and must add weight too make them cast easier , wrap some lead solder around the hook-shanks if available . If you have small 1/8 ounce rubber core sinkers , remove the rubber and crimp it on the hook shank .
  12. I have before but my questions were not "what are the fish hitting" . For instance when I was relatively new to bass fishing , I asked the owner of a shop what his deepest diving crankbait was . He told me the Norman Deep Little N would touch 12 foot . I bought a couple and they produced . Just have to ask the right questions to the right people .
  13. Bass like to relate to something visible and they dont suspend well in muddy water .There is nothing for them to see and be next to out there . The less clear it is the closer they are to cover . Also the less clear the shallower you will find them . Thats the biggest mistake new anglers make , casting out into nowhere land .
  14. If your standing at the ends of docks and just casting out in the "open" and muddy water too boot , thats not a very productive way to catch fish . The dock itself is where some bass will be .
  15. Keep fishing and your going to catch a lot of stranger fish than that on a bass lure .
  16. Like already been said , the bass were almost biting . I had a day like that last year with crankbaits . They were following it and hitting it closed mouth . I caught a few but most were hooked on the outside . i finally solved the riddle by using a suspending Rapala X Rap .
  17. I'm going with the Mister Twister Sassy Shad or curl tail grub on a jig head .
  18. I got into a fight with a goose . We were going at it hard and strong and I landed a couple of solid kicks before it finally quit . Do I crap my pants everytime i see a goose ? Of course not .
  19. So what . Its just a snake .
  20. I thought beetle Spins were stocked in every tackle store . I even see them at gas stations .
  21. Another way to look at it , the more fish you catch the better your chances at catching a big bass . If I'm catching a lot of small bass I assume there are bigger fish somewhere close . Sometimes they may be tighter to cover , deeper , on isolated cover on nearby structure like points .., theres lots of variables . I recommend if your stuck in the shallows then start hitting points that extend out in deep water .. They are easy to find . Spend a lot of time learning how to fish them .
  22. For boaters , peak of summer is not the toughest time to fish , its one of the best . From the bank I would search steeper banks . Rip rap banks like along dams can be good . I would use a lot of sinking lures like lipless cranks , jigs , Texas rigs ,single bladed spinnerbaits like the Rocket shad , ,,Start by casting parallel to the bank then slowly move out to deeper water , let the lures settle and bring them back following the contour from deep to shallow . This will keep the lure in a possible strike zone the entire cast .
  23. I use lots of colors . Caught lots of bass on all of them . Back when they came with the 40 strand skirt , yellow and black produced real well .
  24. I regretted keeping a sickly looking bass to fill my limit . When I stuck a fillet knife in it , some sort of smelly liquid spurted out of it .
  25. Sounds like lakes I fish . Wear polarized glasses and cast at dark spots .
