Im taking time off from surgeries , so I can fish and metal detect more.
  2. Call this thread tube tips.
  3. I like tinkering like this. You have me thinking of other ways to use a tube. Cut the nose and slide over another soft plastic and you could have a lot of creations and color combos .
  4. I still use them and plan on for many more years.
  5. Look at Pumpkinseed closer. Using this color mixing tool add all the primary and secondary colors together it creates brown.Colors disappear in this order . Red , orange , yellow ,green, violet , blue http://trycolors.com/ Remove the red and it turns greenish. Pumpkinseed should turn green at this depth. Remove the orange its still greenish . Remove the yellow its blue Remove the green its violet Remove the violet and of course its blue So I think this is how pumpkinseed would change color in water. Am I right or wrong ?
  6. So then what about light brown or pumpkinseed. It reflects all the primary colors. If red is filtered out but not blue and yellow then does pumpkinseed then turn green then eventually blue as it goes deeper . I found this article that actually lower colors in the water , including florescent's . http://www.uli-beyer.com/en/monster-technology/lures/102-farben-unter-wasser
  7. Red turns grey because the red light is absorbed , then orange , yellow... If white reflects all light but all color is absorbed except blue at a certain depth. Will white then appear blue at that depth ?

You'll be back with a vengeance.
  9. Back in the 70's and early 80's we were taught that plastic worms were for quantity {6 inch worms larger worms were for lunkers] , jig and pigs quality and Lizards were used for spawning bass . I started fishing Lizards year round because I figured they bridged the gap. I proved to myself that I was right until lizards and Craws caught on nationwide . Now days I find it a lot harder to stay ahead of the pack.
  10. My short list. I am down to 1 Deep Wee R and 1 Big Jim. I will have to go to some flea markets and shop.
  11. I used floro once and could not get a trilene knot to cinch up nice and tight . .Thats the knot I use 90 percent of the time , so I just stick to mono .Maybe it was the brand I used
  12. LOl, no I meant eight thousand . What a typo. I didnt even win 8 dollars the last year I fished tournaments .
  13. Gary Klein Won a Bass event and it was almost trolling. He let a worm fall deep to the bottom and used his trolling motor to move it along. To answer your question , I think it would be rather difficult to be fishing a point and other contestants trying to troll it . I troll often but always where others are not fishing .I think it would cause a lot of confrontations in a tournament.
  14. I use lizards all though the season Carolina and texas rigs. I dont have a favorite brand . I luse lots of colors. I won eight dollars one year with electric blue fished on texas rigs.
  15. As long as the mono is not coiled , I dont see where there should be much difference.I use XL because its inexpensive and has little memory. Suffix Elite lies nicely in the water also. If you hold the rod in front of the reel and let the line slide between your index finger and thumb you will have more sensitivity. Most anglers dont like to hold the rod like this, it feels weird to them . I started doing it as a kid so I could feel crappie hit jigs on old solid fiberglass fishing poles and have been doing it ever since.
  16. I cant decipher any roads , piers or rubble on the map. I am missing something .
  17. Me too . I want the city to pay for mole damage in my lawn .
  18. On the northeast side of the 65 foot holes are some flats with interesting contours , that is most appealing to me . That 13 foot mark makes some good " zags " there .
  19. I have experience fishing lakes after ice out . After a week of warm weather you may be able to catch the years biggest fish .Id let the sun warm it up some until I commenced fishing . Afternoons are best .Without knowing the contours , Id concentrate on the steepest banks or the dam if its steep .Position the boat close to shore and make parallel cast. My first lure choice would be an old Arbogast Mudbug but any medium diving crank might work. Cast close to bank or out a little , as long as the lure can hit bottom and retrieve extremely slow. This is shallow water fishing but on "Steep"' banks , large bass will often be there . Its a good time to get a lunker but not numbers . I left out a crucial point , keep the rod tip low.
  20. Im not going to use it on an umbrella rig and the the worm would probably be clipped down even with the hook..This jig head that come with the manns lure has such a large hook gap that it should not interfere with the hook set.
  21. Yeah , its texas rigged side hooked . Im always playing with terminal tackle when im fishing. A person cant have too many tricks .
  22. Picked up a Manns Umbrella Bait kit off clearance , bodies and jig heads only not the harness. Been tinkering around , added a Owner keeper and then a short piece of Jelly worm to make it snagless I cant think of a single reason why this wont work. I dont need that long a piece of worm and could change color but it should work great .
  23. I have fished under a mullberry tree full of ripe fruit . You could see the carp fighting to get at each mullberry dropped. I put a fat one on an ultra light , pitched it out and had one on before it hit bottom. I have also used wild grapes. I have a picture of that carp. Taken about 30 years ago.
  24. I feed the carp with commercial food. Once they start feeding on it they dont want corn. I'm going to have to find a little brown pellet fly and try a flyrod . Maybe a brown bluegill popper and remove the legs .
