  1. Make sure you thoroughly check out the new rod if Walmart replaces it. I've seen kids using rods for sword fights in the store before.
  2. From one buckeye to another, welcome aboard!
  3. You may get laughed or poked fun at, but don't overlook the color pink for smallies. You can call it bubblegum if I makes you feel more secure in your manhood. If I know my fishing waters that have smallmouth I always bring tubes, flukes, and worms in pink. I'd bring pink grubs, too, if I could find them.
  4. Right now the new Jann's Netcraft catalog is keeping me sane. My new club jerseys are arriving next week, so that's exciting to me. Sometimes it's the little things.
  5. Sounds like you're trying to find an excuse to take the bait monkey on a date to the tackle shop. LOL
  6. You remove them from the reel and soak in acetone, or other suitable solvent. Then add a drop of proper oil. There are plenty of YouTube videos on cleaning a reel in addition to many threads on this site. Or, you can have a professional clean your reels like Delaware Valley Tackle.
  7. If you actually get a well made gen 3 Revo you'll like it, but it seems like it's a 50/50 chance. Flush the bearings on the Tatula, or go with the Lews IMHO. I own the Revo S, my best friend has the SX, and another guy got the STX. We've all said we'll not be buying any more Abu reels. I'm not a Shimano guy, but you should also look at the Citica or Chronarch, too.
  8. Culprit ribbon tail worms, Roboworms, Rage Tail thumper & anaconda, and V&m wild thang.
  9. Messed up is putting it lightly. The first recon I threw tore at the point in the body that the hook was brought back through during the cast. I'd say about half of the pack did this. I appreciate you pointing out the production issue, but I really have no interest in trying them again. Don't worry though. At my last count I had upwards of 50 packs of various Rage Tail products. They are firmly entrenched as one of my top brands.
  10. I prefer the anaconda. The recon IMHO is less durable than a senko. The recon is the only Rage Tail product I'll never buy again. My favorite Rage Tail worm is the thumper. Give them a try.
  11. Green pumpkin always works. Bruiser did nothing for me, but it could just be I didn't give the color a fair chance either. Try hooking them through the head end instead of the tail end. I noticed more strikes this way.
  12. The drop craw by Missile Baits is a very good dropshot bait. I used them more than Roboworms this past season. Oxblood and pinkalicious worked the best for me.
  13. I believe that the originals will float. I only have the salted variety so I may be wrong.
  14. Are they out yet?
  15. Very nice squarebills. The biggie is ready to fish right out of the package.
  16. I have 2 I want to work on: 1) Swimbaits 2) The jika rig
  17. I haven't missed a fish using them. With EWG hooks I would occasionally have one get unbuttoned.
  18. I hope this helps. The tube is a 3.5" Lt. Melon pepper orange. A guy from Michigan named Fred Schubert makes them.
  19. I'll post the picture tonight.
  20. I used to use your method, but since I tried the Trokar tube hooks I haven't looked back. 3/0 size on a 3.5" tube.
  21. This. This. This. Nothing disgusts me more than people who leave their trash behind!
  22. I have a 6930 size on a St. Croix Premier 7' ML/F rod for drop shot fishing. It works for me and the days I'm on Lake Erie getting after the smallies. If I ever find myself "needing" another spinning reel I have no reason to consider anything but another President. Terrific reel for a great price IMHO.
  23. I add Reel Grips to all my baitcasters. I like the extra bulk, and cushioned feel to them. Might be the best $6 upgrade to do for comfort.
  24. I bought one last year, and no longer use it. Not because I didn't like it but because the little plastic tabs that are on the inserts used to hold it secure in box broke. They are smallish dovetail type tabs. I dropped the box once while losing my balance while bank fishing and that was that. I now use a Plano 3704 and like it.
