  1. 159,578 sq ft is just a touch bigger than 500
  2. That is WAY bigger than 500 sq ft. Yes, it could easily hold a 6 lber, probably more than a few in there.
  3. He was fishing a 500 sq ft pond out of a kayak? That is like a 25' swimming pool
  4. A lot of solid information in these posts.
  5. Well, as you can clearly see, KVD and Skeet just can't compete with some guys on here. This thread reminds me of the threads on an Archery forum where everyone talks about the groups they shoot at 40 yards.
  6. Yep, I have more tungsten and trokars at the bottom of a lake than a 110.
  7. A MB vision 110 is worth EVERY penny when it comes to catching fish. If you are worried about losing it, don't be.
  8. No, you are fine. Too many people over think this sport. My Papa Jake probably caught more fish in his life than I could in 3 lifetimes. He used a Shakespeare rod an old abu reel. Doubt he ever once thought about sensitivity or casting distance.
  9. I would venture to say it has become more of a job instead of a hobby. I bet Jordan Lee gets so pumped up for an event and can't wait to get on the water. He is young and this is probably a blast for him. I bet KVD doesn't have the same enthusiasm he did 20 years ago. I have been coaching for 13 years and my passion isn't what it once was.
  10. I have fished with $50 rods and $400 rods. It's all about experience. For some people a $400 rod will feel like they are getting a bite on EVERY rock, stick, moss, grass, twig, etc. I am currently using "cheap" Denali Fission rods and I can still feel the difference in a bite vs structure. Fishing is a game that is best played by those with experience versus those with a fat wallet.
  11. I love Shimano rods. Still own Crucials. I have used the Cumara, Clarus, Compre, Zodias, Poison Adrena and even the Sellus rods. I even owned a Cumulus that I got for a rediculous price. It was a M so I didn't have much use for it since it was 7'2" or 7'1" so I sold it. My buddy has bought a bunch of my rods from me and he still uses them 3-5 times a week and they are just as good today.
  12. I wonder if some of these are measured or just a guess. LOL
  13. Fishing gear is a lot like golf clubs. You can buy a brand new set of sticks for $2,000 and you "might" improve your game by a stroke. Same thing with rods and reels. You can spend $100 on a rod or $400 on a rod but if you don't know how to catch fish, it won't matter. Give me (a 9 handicap) a brand new set of DXG's (super expensive clubs) and Rory a set of Wilson's from Wal-Mart and he is going to beat me down. Same thing with fishing. Give me an Antares and a Megabass Destroyer and give EE an Ugly Stick and an Abu silver max and he makes me look silly. Like others have said, I think there is a point in which price doesn't give you much of an advantage. Experience and knowledge are priceless.

I have used the owner and the eagle claw. The owner is far superior in my opinion.
  15. After some time on the water with it, my Curado DC is tied, maybe a nose ahead.
  16. Another thing is that it could be your setup. If you are throwing a 1oz or better swimbait then 10 lb line may be too thin. The action of the rod could also effect how much stress is put on the line (depending on weight) at its launch point. Another thing to consider would be your casting method. I have more problems with heavy lures when doing an overhead cast. That cast seems to put the most stress on your line. I prefer a sidearm or 3/4 cast or even a roll cast when throwing heavier lures.
  17. A Palomar knot is the only knot I use to tie to the bait. I haven't had one break in a number of years. I did have them break before and I wasn't sure why. I think when I was pulling the knot tight I wasn't wetting it enough and pulling too tight and the heat from the motion made the line weak. I figured out if I make sure it is wet, pull it slowly AND only pull the tag end of the line to make it tight, it seems to perform flawlessly. I have straightened out hooks when I was hung up and the knot held fine.
  18. Late July and August when I would rather just jump in as opposed to fish.
  19. Vision 110
  20. He makes himself look ignorant, and clearly he is not. Just say, "This is a good fish" and leave it at that. He screams "HUGE FISH, FIVE POUNDER, FIVE POUNDER!!!!!!" and it's 2 lbs. That is what gets on my nerves. His excitement doesn't bother me as much as his exaggeration does.
  21. Mine is on a 6'10" MH rod with 14 lb mono and I throw spinnerbaits, lipless, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, underspins, small (4" or less) paddle tail swimbaits, and any other moving bait that will work with that rod. The reel is a joy to use.
  22. I have owned (probably leaving some out) Curado 100Ds, I series, G series, H series, K series, Chronarch 50Mg, 50E, 200E, 150 Mgl, Core 100, 50Mg7, Antareas, Scorpion 70 Xg, and I bet about 20 more that I am leaving out. The Curado DC may possibly be the best reel I have used. I wish I had 10 of them.
