  1. I thought they quit making lead 20 years ago? LOL! I started using tungsten a long time ago and there is no way I could go back to lead. My buddy was throwing a 1/4 oz lead weight the other day and I thought he had a 1 oz punching weight on.
  2. Only I dictate when I throw a jerkbait. I don't let time of year, water temp, water depth, water clarity, wind direction, sunny skies, cloudy skies, rain, air temp or Ott DeFoe tell me when to throw one. Basically, I always have one tied on and I am not afraid to throw it, LOL.
  3. The small ones were active today, these are the 2 biggest. 3-01 and 5-05
  4. Fishing in Oklahoma in the Spring time there just aren't many days where the wind doesn't blow at least 10 mph on average. I actually like a little bit of wind. When it gets to 20-30 it just isn't fun fighting it. I have spot-lock and power poles so I can manage most conditions to a certain extent. Now, a January morning when it is in the low 30's, anything over 10 mph from the North and I am probably out, lol.
  5. There are a lot of great folks here!
  6. That is a fact!
  7. I was able to get back on the water today after a wild weather day yesterday kept me inside most of the day. It didn't take long to beat the seasons best. I caught the 7-3 on Monday and beat it today with a 7-8. This one took a baby brush hog in green pumpkin with blue flake on a 3/16 oz lifted jigs ned head about 9:30 this morning. Caught quiet a few but nothing over 3 aside from her.
  8. Nothing like bringing back a 12 year old post to argue the merits of construction material.
  9. How long has it had to dry out?
  10. I have been fishing a LOOOOOONG time, not as long as some on here, but sometimes you are too early and you miss them and sometimes you are too late and you gut hook them. Still happens to me at least once an outing that I swing and miss. I am sure there are guys here that never miss or never gut hook one, I can think of one in particular, but I will let him tell you how good he is.
  11. The lockdown is bringing out the best of the best here lately.
  12. Great! I love when my buddies catch a good one as well!
  13. The 6'9 M works great for a jerkbait rod. I am not a huge fan of the grip however, I would rather it have been eva or even cork. It is okay, just different I suppose. It loads well and casts a JB really good though. I don't need an Expride or Poison Adrena for a JB so this fits the bill nicely.
  14. I spent the $ to get a Terrova because I didn't want to spend the extra or an Ultrex. Guess what? After just a few times out, I regretted that decision. I am still going to end up getting an Ultrex eventually, but I wish I would have in the first place.
  15. I should have put LOL, I was being sarcastic because you were making fun of people who you feel are inferior to you. I throw a spinnerbait all times of the day and I have a lil bit of success doing so. Just because these people may or may not be using the wrong presentation is neither here nor there. I have fished for males on beds and it didn't matter what I threw at them, they weren't going to pay any attention to it. That's just the way it is sometimes.
  16. Weird that someone with as much knowledge as yourself couldn't get this fish to bite. I assume all those losers out there throwing spinnerbaits in high sun with no wind who don't know nearly as much about fishing as you do have messed things up for you.
  17. I usually throw a 1.5 and a flat side during the pre-spawn and spawn and will transition to a 2.5 and something with a wide wobble for post-spawn all the way through summer and fall.
  18. I use .013" diameter braid or .33 mm for those who prefer the metric system. In fact, I use this theory when selecting mono, fluoro or braid. Those numbers are about the sweet spot for me, but .012" or 31 mm also work well. I am not concerned with a manufacturers "lb test" as much as I am manageability. Proper drag setting, maintaining line, re-tying, knot tying, etc. are all factors that determine how well your line performs.
  19. Oklahoma, wind is just a way of life here. Forecast for tomorrow is 6-10, so that will be one of the calmest days this spring if it holds true.
  20. My single axle has brakes, I am assuming many do.
  21. Geez guys, it is Spring time, the spawn is happening. Go out and fish. Shouldn't this argument be saved for December LOL Btw, I would be out fishing but there are 20-30 mph winds with tornado warnings in the area for this afternoon.
  22. The more things I read on here, the more I realize some people think more about fishing than actually fishing.
  23. I didn't ask these guys if they could see my braid or not, I forgot. Don't worry about fish seeing your line, unless of course you are using hooks with "invisibility characteristics"
  24. I was in great shape in high school and played a year of college baseball and was still in pretty good shape in my early 20's. At 25 I got married, had a kid, started my career, life, etc. and over time the pounds added up. I turned 40 in December and I am currently 6'1 and 220 lbs which technically puts me over weight. I haven't done any sort of workout in 15 years or so. Recently I fished 28 out of 31 days and I ran the trolling motor all day, sometimes 6 hours, sometimes 10 hours. No butt seat, no seat, nothing, just me standing and fishing all day. I fished by myself about 23 of those days, so unloading, loading, etc. was all done by me. There were days that I was pretty tired at the end of the day but I was back at it the next day. I am in no way bragging on myself, but I think we are kidding ourselves if we think it takes anyone with great physical ability to be able to get out and fish day in and day out. Aside from just the overall "healthy" aspect of being in great shape, I don't really see an advantage as it relates to putting fish in the live well (or on the Score Tracker)
  25. Finally got some good weather and was able to get out and catch a few, including this years big one. 7 lb 3 oz on a 7 M Crucial with a Stradic 3000 spooled up with 20 lb 832. She bit a baby brush hog in green pumpkin red flake on a 3/16 oz swinging jig head. Wish I would have caught her a couple weeks ago, but I'm happy. Here's a couple pics. My buddy gives me a hard time saying I try to make them look bigger lol
