  1. 3/8 and 1/2 are all I buy. But I dont even but 1/4 oz spinner baits any more either. I like to keep that bait down on a quick retrieve
  2. I have a couple. Most of mine at 7 to 1 orn6 to 1. I reel wanna try that 10:1 zillion. It would basically be flipping, frigging, and buzzbaits
  3. Bingo! Finesse is a STYLE AND PRESENTATION NOT A LURE, SIZE OR WEIGHT! I have some 1/2 oz and 3/4 football hair jigs that are absolutely finesse. It it wasnt for the light wire hook they come with, I'd use slightly heavier gear when I throw them. That's just an example. Sorry to hi Jack the thread, but it's a pet peeve. It annoys me to hear finesse fishing or presentations associated with small tiny baits and spinning tackle. On my DX 744 I have 50 lb braid to a 15 lb sniper, and typically a 3/8 or 1/2 oz jig. The style of jig, weather its living rubber, grass jig, flippi ngf style, arky, or even a jig with a very subtle trailer and tightly trimmed skirt, doesnt change the set up for me. I'm gonna present it the way I think the fish want it, sometimes it flip and go, some times it's very slow and methodical...which to me is finesse. The rod abd gear doesnt change, unless we are talking sub 1/4 oz jigs or t rigs.
  4. Dont get me wrong I like a medium driver in the 7 to 10 range. But for let's say 16 foot, I'll go a different route
  5. Same here buddy. I just stopped buying them. I do just as well with a heavy soft plastic swimbait, swing head, or a rig in place of it. I have a box full of 5CD all the way up to 10xds and dt20s that dont get fished
  6. I agree with this. I have a few rapalas, LC, Sk and even megabass lures. But KVD and Arashi are really my favorites. I just got a butt load of storm arashi from Ollie's back in july for 3 or 4 bucks each. @DitchPanda if you want to try a few in 2.5 size. Send me your address and I'll mail you a few. I have all sorts of colors.
  7. Shhhhhhhhh dont tell everyone. Before the senko craze, this is one of tricks I would use alot. A zoom trick worm or 6 inch robo worm, or even a sludge. You can dead stick it, or just flick and twitch that thing. Deadly around grass or laydowns. @Mike L I think was swearing by white as a color
  8. I typically have a squarebill on one rod all the time. Some days shallow/medium cranking is the deal and some days it's not. But its worth having one tied on.
  9. Man a part of me says go for it.. but high end tackle for the most has pretty specific.actions and tapers. A do all for a high cost is may lead, to disappointment. Personally I'd get two more combos like you have now for that money. There's nothing wrong with a tat and dobyns rod.
  10. All braid with exceptions on 2 cranking rods,1 jig rod, and my jerkbait rod, and swimbait rigs. So probably 10 or 12 rods with braid to leader. I used to use only 30lb braid and 50 depending on what it was on. No I just use 50 except for one today that has 65.
  11. I figured this was it when I opened it up. Looks good. Thanks Glenn, Kerri, and all of your staff and mods for what yall do!
  12. My plan is to upgrade both of my graphs and to jump on the shallow water anchor bandwagon. I was gonna sell my boat and try for a new(er) one but it makes more since to just upgrade key components. I want to start tournament fishing again come February so, starting next few weeks I'm gonna be making trips out once a week on lakes and rivers on the tourney trail ( the ones I dont gisg much) to ride, fish and map all I can before season starts in Feb, because I wont have the time to do it then. I've considered a fall/winter trail that starts next month. Looking for an edge, I feel like upgraded electronics would help some, that and I'm really jealous of the new tech. I'm hoping to see what comes on sale in the next month. I do think I want to stick with a Lowrance product, but my eyes are open to whatever. Just ordered new hard ware for my compartments, some of them are shot, also ordered some battery powered led lights for the compartments. The last on my list in a new trolling motor. I would like to have one of these new tangled motors that i can control everything with a remote and use spot lock. But that will prov be after first of the year.
  13. I just ordered a big spool of YZH from Amazon in 8#. Gonna try that on my live bait rods and my bass spinning rods. I live big game, but I'm looking for more of an edge when it comes to my spinning set ups. I despise floro on a spinning set up... it's crazy, I can skip a dock with a baotcaster and floro, but i cannot get going with floro on a spinning set up. To the op, I am a braid to leader guy... mainly for cost effectiveness. I have 2 casting rods that are bottom contact RIGS that are straight floro, the rest are braid to leader. My 2 cranking rods are straight floro, and I currently have floro on my jerkbait rod. I use mono leaders often. Just buy a good quality line. I run heavy mono for my a RIGS a swim bait rods, but I used to use braid to mono.

I've been on here for 8 years and have made some very close pals and life long friendships. In the grand scheme of things, it's not about fishing. Thanks Glenn
  15. Lews tournament pro. 200 bucks. However sportsmans outfitters sells the for 139.00.
  16. Wow does shimano know you have a daiwa reel? Lol just kidding bud. Those are good reels

    Nice one clay
  18. I use the same rods for alot of finesse stuff. It's not a technique that i do sooo much that it has gotten it's own rig. Powell 712 and an OG tstula. 7 ML. Both have 8lb big game. I may try some 8lb braid on the ML and see if it's better for needs and light shakey heads.
  19. Man this hit home for me, one of my bread and butter rigs 15 to 18 years ago was a shakey head.. but this was before I knew it was a thing. I just bought the ling shank jig heads in 1/8 and would put a worm or grub on it. And even today I feel like people over complicate it. Nothing wrong with REFINING your rig to make it work for you...but too much time is lost making things wayyyyyyy more complicated than they should be.
  20. I haven't fished them a ton, I've been settled in pretty good with gycb senko and yum. But I have caught fish on them.
  21. I only have a few of the strike king, but they have an awesome color selection. I had to check my box, but I found I only have 3 colors, phantom perch, green sexy shad, and the last one is a red craw (I think it's the delta craw) that one has bite Mark's on it. I went to TW site to kinda confirm what colors I had, and man I'm blown away at all the colors they have. If you are in a budget, red eye shad is the way to go, but I've had so much success this year on LC LV 200 and 500 as well as a jackall TN 60 and 70.
  22. Troll post.
  23. I've never caught a walleye on a fluke. But I have caught them on live shad...so I would think they would hit it. We dont have alot of walleye here..but we have a few.
  24. Right on!
  25. Decent little collection @Bluebasser86 clean them up and put new hooks on em
