  1. i couldn't even begin to list all the things i've scored from DSG on these crazy deals!! Last year i cleaned the local one out when they did that same 50% off clearance deal....
  2. that's a good day man! really cool double on the single hook too!
  3. really digging those colors on the rod! this is why i cannot do rod builds, i am not a perfectionist!!
  4. that's a cool reward for donating your time!!
  5. i do a lot of prep work to make sure i'm pretty much always ready to roll at a moment's notice
  6. i was really disappointed with the Cabela's that opened up near my house on the first couple/few trips i made there. BUT i think they must have listened or got a little wiser because they seem to have expanded the bass section and limited the saltwater section which makes sense for this region. i've since been back and scored some great deals on sales and clearanced lures/tackle.
  7. just saw something about that new one and pelican putting out a model with a stadium seat too.... competition is heating up in the kayak world and that's good news for the consumer!!
  8. i'm a fan of both shimano and lew's, but were it my money i would buy the lew's 100:1 over the caenan. I had a caenan and did not like it, gave it to a young kid in the neighborhood after just a couple of outings.
  9. i had this happen before (three times) with TW and each time it's because someone there puts my zip code wrong, thus causing some delay. Seriously has happened the past 3 orders, same screwed up zip code. If you paid the extra $5 or $10 to expedite the shipping and it doesn't arrive on the quoted date, they will refund your shipping charge. And that's about it.... otherwise you just have to wait for it.
  10. I used the RH retrieve for a while as it seemed that was all the stores carried around me locally. One day, a friend let me try out his lefty reel and i made an immediate decision to switch my fleet over to LH and have never looked back. I would suggest trying to find someone with a LH baitcaster and see if they might let you toss it around a few times just to see if you even like the feel. I would do that before selling the reel you have.
  11. wouldn't the 5 batteries be somewhere around 250-300 lbs alone? i know my 1 deep cycle battery is heavy as h***. i know i push the limits on my yak sometimes, but you'd already be pushing it without anybody in there it sounds like.
  12. i had the same boat as you for quite a while. i had some cheapo gym weights that i used for a while, bought them at goodwill for like $1 each i think. i kept a 3lb and a 10lb weight. on the rougher days, i took the 10lb and on calmer days the 3lb. agree with catt too that you won't need that much line for that small and light of a boat. just go to the bay or amazon and get you 100ft or 550 paracord for about $8 and you're set.
  13. morning dawn, that's my #1 roboworm color. I really like the roboworm fx sculpins worms too.
  14. i recently sold my standard type (BPS Ascend PFD) and got an onyx A/M inflatable unit and WOW is that thing comfortable. I've started to fish at night a good bit and usually always by myself and a PFD is a must. the inflatable one is comfortable, lightweight and that means i'll wear it all day and all night. Best part is you can switch back and forth from manual to auto which i've done for the river where i'm more prone to get the thing submerged, but may not need it to inflate.
  15. this plus one with a little orange on the throat or belly and i'm good to go....
  16. i love to hook one and have a kid reel it in, nothing quite like it!!
  17. better late than never right? sorry for the poor lighting and all, but you get the idea i think.....
  18. saw the same at one near me.... but still didn't like the feel of them, otherwise i might have really considered picking one up....
  19. Couple of recent purchases.... Sale + coupons + rewards at Dick's Sporting Goods allowed me to get the 2 megabass lures and the suffix 832 for $15 total!! My dad was in town and wanted to hit the Cabela's. Clearance and sales made for a good trip!
  20. my ride 135 is ridiculously stable. I will fall out 99/100 times before the kayak flips over... It also takes a good deal of practice to understand how to stand in a way that leaves you stable and comfortable.
  21. nice fish, hard to beat that texas rig some days!
  22. Nice catch! That frog bite is addicting!
