  1. i would opt for the trion out of those three. i have two now and they are as smooth as you'd hope for a budget reel. i have a supreme mgx and a patriarch as well and honestly my opinion is the trion gets the job done just the same as the 2 higher end models.
  2. were it me, i could only do 1 of 2 things. 1. be totally honest with Abu and see where it goes, but expect NOTHING from them as they have no obligation to replace that rod 2. be honest with yourself that you broke it, especially since you'd used it for quite some time with no issues, and just replace the rod I did exactly the same thing from my kayak with a St Croix ultralight. I called them up and told them exactly what happened and expressed it was all my fault. They were very nice about it and replaced my $160 rod for a small $40 fee. Good luck either way, s**t happens.... it's how you react to it that makes you who you are.....
  3. you two aren't the first that i've heard that from. for a guy like me that's a little dumb on videos/photos sounds like a pretty good option. i always wonder if i would take the time and actually edit them and so forth. Does the Virb have software that it comes with to edit the videos? and if so, is it just as easy to use?
  4. It was a lot of fun and the coloring on those shoalies is sweet, kind of a smallie hybrid look. I caught this guy in the hooch somewhere between where sope creek pours in and cochran shoals, can't remember exactly.
  5. a buddy of mine sent me a link to one the other day.... looks like a total ripoff of the gopro, but i don't know for $80 may be worth a try..... http://www.amazon.com/GeekPro%C2%AE-Shockproof-Waterproof-Camcorder-Underwater/dp/B00ZKDUFBQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1439846091&sr=1-1&keywords=geekpro
  6. i don't have a picture to show, but i've zip tied some little plastic cup type holders i had lying around to the outside of my crate. I then keep my junk in those, out of the way and easy to get to. I keep scale, pliers, megastrike, small anchor, etc. in those things and have been for nearly a year with no problems. I for one can't stand the thought of tethering stuff to the yak because i have a ridiculous fear of getting caught up in all of that mess if i should ever get in a real bind. and just wear the life jacket..... one of these days you or your loved ones will be glad you did.
  7. Just noticed the Elberton location. My dad, brother and I used to lease a little hunting property over that way near the lake. My dad was sick and has been sick every day since when we lost that lease.... it was an awesome spot... anyways.... welcome again.
  8. i like to just find the sales and buy it when i find it.... depending on the retailer, there are always sales to be found. i like to look over each and every clearance rack i can find and i usually can find some great deals.
  9. Welcome from Middle GA
  10. Agree with Deak. Don't try to serve everybody, you need to focus on what you're good at and then get even better at that. Just speaking openly here, but the yoga/healthy lifestyle bit won't appeal to most of the fishing base that i know and may even turn them off to some degree.... Also, agree with him that spelling and grammar are VERY important in people connecting with you as a social media entity. Once you write something out, take time to read and then re-read it. If posting, I would suggest doing so from a computer rather than a "smart" phone which inevitably makes us look like an idiot via autocorrect..... Last thing i'd say is not to get all hung up on making "internet friends" or being a social media persona.... At the end of the day you still have ZERO real acquaintances to call friends..... Facebook has made a mockery of the words "friend" and "like". I'd rather focus all my time and efforts on catching fish rather than catching sponsors or fans.... but to each their own.
  11. my childhood music memory would be listening to the country music my dad liked: conway twitty merle haggard george jones johnny cash waylon jennings
  12. too many to just pick one: king of the hill deadwood on HBO game of thrones the wire always sunny in philadelphia
  13. just came to say .... GO HEELS....
  14. hold up.... if my wife is asking, i use them all and they all catch fish..... if she's not listening..... probably about 50-75% have caught fish. Easily 15-20% have never been fished.
  15. i love the popx in white python. i can effectively walk it and pop it and it catches the big fish and small ones too. i also had A LOT of success on the lake fork magic popper before i lost it. that thing probably accounted for most of the topwater fish i caught locally. I keep saying i'll buy more, but just haven't done it.
  16. this is me.... i don't use a leader because of visibility, i use them so i can break off a snag when needed. You'll break a bone sometimes before you'll break off 30-50lb braid!! only for frogs and topwaters do i tie direct.
  17. not to say that i forget about them, but do find myself trying to force feed something to the fish a lot of times.... for me, i find a 9" Netbait Super T Mac worm in Green Pumpkin to be about the best all around bait on all the waters i fish. Granted each lake has that one bait that may excel, but in general this worm setup catches them on all the waters i fish....
  18. agree with bluebasser. only time i differ is if i'm using the norman speed clips, then i tie to the clip and attach that directly to the bait, no ring.
  19. can't really help on the gear part, but can tell you that i prefer the slip bobbers if i'm fishing for cats or even for bluegill with worms or crickets. i like a nice high visibility color of the slip bobber and then use the speed stops like these: http://www.basspro.com/Arnold-Tackle-Speed-Stop-Bobber-Stop/product/1502050811556/ You can adjust your depths with those too.... I've never once broke the line because of that bobber setup.
  20. Hit the Chattahoochee river yesterday in search of some stripers and came up empty handed on that front. However, it wasn't a skunk day. I managed to land my first shoal bass! It was a fun catch too on my ultralight setup and a small topwater popper!
  21. Jon, which one do you use? I have a Ride 135 and a Nissan frontier.... bout time to get a trailer! I don't necessarily travel too far, but sometimes will haul it about 4 hours to NC on the highway so would like to find something stable enough for the higher speeds and all.
  22. i'm assuming you probably went through the concord store. i ordered a kayak from them once and it took like 2+ weeks to get it shipped into that concord location for some reason. i understand it's a larger item that would have shipped LTL, but they quoted me less than a week to ship, but still took over 2 to get it. glad it's there though, that anxiety kills me.....
  23. just got back from the Florida keys.... couldn't keep enough sunscreen on me it seemed. even got a bit burned on my eyelids somehow while lobster diving! i have already spent part of my day looking at some protective clothing as i too would prefer to cover up than lather up. not to mention it's impossible to cover every square inch of your body in sunscreen by yourself! hope you feel better soon man, worst part for me is the peeling of the skin.
  24. i picked up a couple 2 weeks ago, but haven't had the chance to get them wet. i like my other war eagle spinnerbaits though, so i doubt these would disappoint.
