  1. D bombs.... because they just work.... not certain what the color name is, but the ones that are brownish on one side and like purpleish/blueish on the other are killer around here....
  2. from what i saw it ties like a rapala knot or loop knot, but didn't look like it cinched down too tight on the eye of the hook.... also looks like a gimic, but also ONE MORE THING TO CHARGE THE BATTERY ON...... no thanks.
  3. drag chain can be a really nice thing to have like thornback says....
  4. I was gifted a yeti roadie not too long ago and i like it, but would have never spent my own money on it.... aside from the cold factor, it has to be the most durable cooler i've ever seen. my boss has a few of them and on a trip to key west i was sold. we were there for 4 days and put ice/water over some beers on day 1, by day 4 it didn't look like a single ice cube had melted and the cooler stayed outside all 4 days. but as gone phisin said they are heavy as h*ll
  5. Mine is pretty close to Ajay... 10lb braid main line to a 8lb flouro leader.... might do a 6 or 7lb leader one day, but all i have is 8lb for now.... i prefer this 100:1 over straight flouro as the braid is so much easier to maintain and manage.
  6. Curious are you mostly targeting smallies in that faster current? I ask because he likely will not encounter any smallmouth where he will be fishing, will be all largemouth and spots. That said, I typically find them more in the slack water than the faster current. Now the river smallmouth on the other hand, yes i'd target the shoals and faster current.
  7. Lots of different types of water to fish in NC, what part of the state are you in and where do you fish the most (pond, lake, river, etc.)
  8. this is good info. i have always had luck with the 3 or 4" stick baits in the river. if you can skip up under the overhangs and such you'll pull some fish out. a small crank or floating rapala (gold/black work well for me) would be my #2 bait. also a small popper thrown around the same eddy's would be my third bait. and to answer the question about what is an eddy, it's pretty simple. the backside of any obstacle that creates a break/slows the flow of water is an eddy. Eddys hold fish. good luck man, i want to try the riverbassin when it comes down to ATL in a few weeks.
  9. the acoustics are the worst part of this interview....
  10. snowboarding is an expensive hobby of mine as well..... usually it's cold and i'm ready to drop some coins on gear while not fishing too much.... then it hits me, snow falls and my money goes to the snowboard. for now it's fishing and last night was a good night! TW order came in (late) but the Dobyns Glass 705 is now here as is all the extras i placed in the cart....
  11. i'm not one for bashing and so forth either, but i also love a clever marketing campaign and this one is pretty witty.....
  12. monster fish there speed!
  13. i used to buy everything i could get my hands on.... then realized i'd never use most of what i had. at that point in time i decided to get a little nicer stuff and pinpoint it to just the colors/types that i would use. Plastics/jigs - greens, browns, black/blue Hardbaits - White shad type color, bluegill color, red Spinnerbait/Chatterbait/Buzzbait - any combination of blacks and whites
  14. That's a fish worthy of the hawg trough! Nice catch.
  15. Save yourself a few dollars and grab this 7' Medium Power Medium Fast Action Shimano Crucial I have in the Flea Market http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/159620-shimano-crucial-casting-rod-for-sale/
  16. my grandpa passed away back in november and a couple months back my grandma gave me all his old fishing stuff (vintage fly rod, reel, lures, etc.) one of the lures in the tackle box was what looked to be a pretty old deep wee R same yellow perch color i imagine. the rings and hooks were rusted so i replaced them and was determined to catch a fish on it, but also scared to death to lose it. well first trip out with it i caught a 1.5lb spot with it and have since decided to retire it. I just thought it would be cool to catch a fish on the same bait my grandpa probably caught one on many years ago.....
  17. Caught it on the megabass white python Pop-x with a 6'7"MF *** black spinning rod, pflueger supreme mgx, 15lb power pro braid. Last 2 trips to the pond were unfruitful so this was nice! Nothing like the popper bite, my PB was on a popper...
  18. Tomorrow can't come quick enough.... weekend plus the TW order should be on the porch when i get home! Can't wait to get that Dobyns Champion Glass Crankbait rod on the water this weekend!
  19. aside from green pumpkin it's probably the second most productive color for me
  20. not a fan of the lew's spinning reel i had before.... love the casting reels, but not so much on the spinning.
  21. yeah, no way you could have 2 people that backwards under the same roof.... nice video though, i enjoyed that
  22. you're not really both upside-down-backwards-lefties are you? but seriously, your wife is great! nothing beats some good acoustics and vocals.
  23. pretty sure the guy that says "pile of deps" wins this most expensive lure argument for the day.....
  24. mike is great, he takes care of every single order and his work is unreal on quality and value
  25. i use a cablz xl adjustable strap, i hated how the others flopped around on my neck and head.
