  1. TURRIBLE on the ST Lawrence river.... went from 98th percentile before the tournament to 93rd percentile afterward. my guys sucked to say the least.
  2. only wanted to add that you can often catch them on this bait on the fall. need to be aware of the sudden little jump or tick in your line as you're letting it fall down from the cast before retrieving it. you might not think they'd hit it that way, but they sure will.....
  3. let's say i was going to purchase a cheap combo to fish in the salt (7'M Penn Rod with a 4000 size spinning reel). What baits would be best to throw? would you be fishing live or artificial? if artificial, would i have much luck on something like a 1oz bucktail jig or a 5" pencil popper? may have to try my luck on those peacocks as well and maybe in the meantime i can run into a nice largie.... thanks!
  4. well you have blue ridge lake right there where you're staying so that's a place to start. never fished there, but a few google searches should get you going in the right direction.
  5. yeah to each his own. i do both left handed.... but you should do what is comfortable for you and what you're used to.
  6. went out to the pond for a couple hours and ZERO fish so no, not so much for me. was throwing the buzzbait, swim jig, t rig worm, frog and the chatterbait. NOTHING.
  7. x2 though i agree with using both, smalljaw and i are on the same page here.
  8. what an idiot.... both on the show and in real life it looks like
  9. i would agree sounds like a bad one. i've had great luck with yozuri in 6, 8 and 12lb.
  10. i might even try this, but i am seriously saltwater illiterate. i mean don't know what in the h*ll i'm doing. thinking about buying me a cheap combo and trying it out though. BUT i would also love to get a florida lake/pond pig if i had the chance!
  11. "I did NOT need to see that!" every single time i open my work inbox.....
  12. i have been a die hard palomar guy for a while... but i've also started using fluoro a lot more lately and thus have been tying a uni knot quite a bit. i think i'm starting to like it even more than the palomar. you should really give it a shot, holds great and isn't that hard to tie.
  13. totally agree with that.... i've thrown some that just looked too much like the water at a distance and was hard to tell where my frog was and when/if it disappeared.
  14. Didn't see the Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM option..... i would consider that the best time to fish because i never get that chance it seems like....
  15. yeah really wish i could bring the kayak, but i'm flying in there so that's a no-go.... any other ideas as far as some bank access options around that area? i'll be staying right on the beach in Delray, but could get a cab or something to drop me off anywhere i needed to go.
  16. Yeah if you specify exactly what part of N Georgia you are talking about you might get some decent spots.
  17. I believe the wife and I are going to be staying on the beach in the Delray Beach, FL area in a couple weeks 8/7 - 8/10. I am wondering if there are any spots around that I could target some bass? Is there any fishing to be done in Lake Ida? It looks to be very close to the hotel we are staying at. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  18. First fish on the new rod came from the pond! Was supposed to be a dedicated crankbait rod, but the Dobyns Champion 703 Glass is SWEEEET with the bladed jigs!! This 2lb10ozer choked the black and blue rage blade on the fall. The combo didn't let me down as I felt the subtle "tick" of the line from the sensitivity of the rod and the 30lb power pro with 12lb invisx leader thrown on the curado 51e. The rod felt great while fighting the fish to the bank, plenty of backbone to set the hook too.
  19. thanks for the heads up.... i had set that lineup a while back and had no idea!
  20. Really hope to have another good event to keep me up in the top of the ranks. Here's my lineup: A. Brent Ehrler B. David Walker C. Brett Hite D. Todd Faircloth E. Stephen Longobardi We'll see how it goes....
  21. Nice catches Jeff! I'm headed back to Key West in 2 weeks to fish the salt and you've got me fired up now!!
  22. those old dudes are tough.....
  23. welcome James from the North side of Atlanta....
  24. Siebert, DVT, Megastrike, MTB and Rage Tail have all received some of my money at one point or many others....
