  1. Congrats. By them a lifetime hunting/fishing license in your state while they are infants. Cheap and will be the gift that keeps on giving. My dad did this for me, my brother and both nephews and it has paid for itself time and time again. Congrats again!
  2. i too avoid anything that would tangle me up should that flip ever occur. i'm also in a ride 135 which will dump me before it flips. but should i ever get caught in an anchor line or something crazy, i also have a river knife always attached to the PFD. i'll lose a couple hundred bucks in gear before i lose my life....
  3. Agree with Mike about servers, that is a totally different situation where they solely depend on tips. i often feel that if a person is self employed as in they own the business, then the fee should cover everything because they essentially pocket the profits. If the guide worked for a company or a resort or something like that, I would feel more inclined to tip since the company or employer would likely keep a cut of the money from the trip. Tips are a matter of opinion and are often a sore subject. My opinion is to give as you see fit (and having worked in the service industry for years my wife and I often overcompensate). Somewhat side note, every time I am a part of a tipping conversation I always think of the opening scene of Reservoir Dogs, one of my favorites!
  4. I got home last night after a week away to see that my most recent purchases were waiting for me! New Pflueger Trion spinning reel for my river rod and some baits that I needed to replenish along with some Yamamoto spinnerbaits I wanted to try out.
  5. yeah it's just cosmetic, the reel is still incredible. it just sucks to look at my $275 reel that looks like i've drug it behind my truck when compared to my other reels that look nearly new out of the box....
  6. don't know the answer as far as the holes go, but bending the top of the blade seems to make a world of difference.... i got some from bluebasser86 a while back and his thumped harder than usual and he said the bend in the blade was the reason why....
  7. thanks fellas.... getting the party started tomorrow with a 6 day fishing trip to Florida!!!
  8. well as far as what i think was your original question.... i would still use "regular" cranks in addition to chatterbaits or traps for a few reasons. Most importantly for me is that i have ZERO floating/suspending chatterbaits or lipless cranks.... important for me when trying to work the bait more slowly and in heavier cover.... not to mention i can really dial in my depths depending on whether i use a squarebill, medium diver or deep diver.
  9. i have a license for FL, GA, NC and AL and all of them were emailed to me... i can print or copy as many as needed. I always have them all in my wallet which i always have so no problems there....
  10. yeah just normalish looking scratches.... i would say that i take equal care of all my equipment (but more so this one combo as it is by far my most expensive). for some reason it just seems to show the small scuffs and scratches much more so than my other reels of the same and different brands.... no big deal since it still performs like a beast, but sucks that it is easier to scratch.
  11. trailer yes, trailer hook no..... they already get hung up enough as is!
  12. i dealt with them once on a broken ultralight rod and they were over the top helpful and had my replacement rod to me very quickly.... glad to hear you had a positive experience as well!!
  13. Today happens to me my bday and my mom sent me a couple nostalgic photos to commemorate.... one of which was a long lost gem that i hadn't seen in ~20 years... string 'em up!
  14. get you some from siebert outdoors and you won't regret it.... high quality stuff and the fish dig them too....
  15. nice story man.... hate to hear of his misfortunes, but nothing like someone delivering on a promise.
  16. pretty sure mine is a 35 size, but i really do like it. although, it's not twice as good as my supreme mgx that was half the price....
  17. could have fooled us with that ugly mug in the avatar pic....
  18. i have the 6'10"MHF model and absolutely love it for swim jigs, buzzbaits and spinnerbaits.
  19. hands down best for me was seeing 311 and the roots at Carowinds theme park in Charlotte, NC back in the day. Poured rain all day and was a pretty small crowd, but both bands absolutely killed it. seen 311 a dozen times since and never seen a show like that.... that said, seeing Tool would be on the top of my list of things to do.... could imagine that would be a new favorite.
  20. i consider myself pretty adept with tying the palomar knot and it's my preference in this situation. that said, i think the buzzbait is the hardest bait to tie it on, followed closely by the spinnerbait. the blades make it tough in terms of the loop and your grip. practice makes it better, not perfect....
  21. there's quite a few of those around here in middle GA, mostly what i like to fish from the yak because you have no encounters with crazy party boaters. However, they do get quite a bit of fishing pressure.
  22. you'll find me fishing in the dark when it's this hot anyways.... not many pleasure boaters out after dark...
  23. dropped in by the pond last night about 20 minutes before dark just to wet a line on the way back from cabela's.... 3rd cast with the zara puppy on the *** spinning rod, new sedona 1000 reel and 6lb yozuri
  24. wacky, that thing really flutters on the fall...
  25. went to cabela's to find a 2 piece rod/reel combo to take to the beach this weekend. came home with that..... and another little 2 piece spinning rod and some lures and so on....
