  1. who cares on the weights, nice fish all around!!!
  2. on top of the breakage issues reported, i've heard their customer service is poor at best. I had 2 e21 wild carrot stix casting rods. a 6'6" MH and a a 7'H. I used them lightly, but sold them off because i was always so delicate with them i was scared to fish them right. Especially the 7'H, i wanted to fish jigs with it, but was scared to death of a hard hook set..... i will say this, they feel great and light and they look good.... but for the money i think you can do far better. side note: my friend has an old spinning rod from i think the first generation and it has lasted him a few seasons and he fishes it every outing as his t-rig rod. take that for what it's worth.
  3. i think BlueBasser86 makes some homemade chatterbaits, maybe he'll chime in...
  4. Cool, thanks for sharing. Wish i could see the frame again with the tail turned sideways, that's when i could really see it was a BIG bass.....
  5. bought one saturday, threw it twice on sunday. that was before i got it snagged and broke the hooks off getting it unsnagged. stupid water pump grates aside from that the bait seems nice!
  6. I'd say mostly predictable until 5 or 6 dogs and a 300 pound hog rush into their gator sanctuary.... then it's anybody's guess as to who is coming out on top I'm just glad they don't roam the waters I fish!!
  7. As a kid and teenager I spent many many weeks in Land o Lakes, FL hunting wild hogs. We would hunt them with dogs on this MASSIVE ranch. On more than one occasion, we happened upon a gator. Once I happened to catch a glimpse of a gator pulling a small calf down into a pond, that alone has kept me away from fishing in Florida......
  8. Interesting that it made it on the news!! I'm curious now as to what the story was about? I just thought it was cool that not only the cameras caught it, but i happened to see this big tail of a big bass going down the hatch. Glad JBSoonerfan snagged that photo for some evidence!
  9. Agreed. Either way, I'd only want to catch one of them
  10. It's pounds then ounces as shown in that picture on the site. So 6 - 10 would be 6 pounds 10 ounces
  11. Yeah, it DEFINITELY caught my eye. I was thinking to myself how do bass get SOOO big in parts of South FL where these gators roam around and pick them off? then my next thought was d*mn i would have like to have caught that fish earlier today when i was on the water!
  12. HAHA yes you did! I don't have DVR or anything fancy so I couldn't rewind to snap a pic. Thanks! That's awesome!
  13. Was just watching the PGA Honda Classic and the cutaway shot for the commercial break was a Florida gator with the tail of a BIG bass hanging out of it's mouth, then down the hatch! Anybody else catch that? Glad I don't live/fish near gators!! My luck would be me pulling one in the boat as a gator pulls me and the bass in the lake. Those things scare me to death!
  14. snagged a Daiwa Tatula, Storm Arashi swimbait and some Lake Fork Magic Shad Boot Tails it was a good day!
  15. Just scooped a new 6:3 Daiwa Tatula today. Can't wait to give it a shot! d**n BPS classic and their reel trade in…..
  16. man that looks like fun…. cold, but fun!
  17. Just ran into Brandon Palanuik at the BPS in Lawrenceville, GA. He had already spoke for the classic (missed that) but was wandering around checking out the electronics. A brief intro and conversation took place leaving me feeling that he's a super nice guy. I had never been for nor against the guy, but after today I think I may be on the for side. He was nice, easy to talk to and seemed really down to earth. Just another reminder they're human like the rest of us....
  18. essentially they already have mercury in their bodies, some with higher concentrates than others. certain algaes then produce higher levels of mercury, eaten by said fish, compounding the mercury problem.... each prey eaten by the predator multiplies the problem, the higher on the food chain, the more mercury..... another hotly contested source of the mercury is from coal fired power.... that's for another discussion, different forum.....
  19. hey man, one other area you might search is ncangler.com there is a good bit of info on that site specific to NC
  20. jason christie he's a classy dude
  21. fair point…. that's beyond my realm of deep diving so i can see the point. also, probably should be said that i'm just a slow person period so my "slow" is like turtle style and my "fast" is more of a moderate i'd say (I drive the same way, as annoying as that is for most) OP, perhaps you think about the 6:x:1 as you could really look to use that as a multipurpose reel. Although the more relevant point was made by jfrancho as he mentions IPT that for me is the definitive marker for the reel speed much more so that gear ratio
  22. being that he said that rod was the one in mind, i was just throwing it out that i felt that was the more important component. looks like i'm on an island by myself with the thought of a higher gear ratio. "treble hook baits" is a fairly wide variety of baits so we can all interpret a bit different. but for me it seems easier to slow myself down with a higher speed reel than to ever try to "speed up" with a slower reel
  23. i may be way off, but the rod is far more important based on hook type than the reel is. reel ration will be your choice based on preference for the most part. I think a standard moving bait ratio is 6:x:1.... i really like the 7:x:1 because i can make myself slow it down, but it's hard to speed it up..... for $130 you have plenty of fine options.....
  24. my only set back on the veritas is that the trigger is fairly uncomfortable.... maybe just be my hands, but it just rubs awkwardly. i would suggest holding one before buying.
