  1. well d*m i thought i was special no he was great, very ready to answer my questions and was so easy to work with. i don't think i intend on buying jigs elsewhere now that i know what good looks like! even the wife who is tackle and fishing illiterate said to me as i pulled them out of the packaging, "oooooh those look nice" maybe one day i'll turn that "fashionista" into a "fishinista" with the help of some "glamorous" siebert jigs
  2. i like the shimano crucial, i have a compre and it just came down to $ but would have bought a crucial if i had the $ then..... more importantly, i think you'll see from the responses that the carrot stix is not on the radar when talking about the better rods....
  3. I would look for other rods. MANY better options for under $200. What specific techniques you looking to use this rod for?
  4. Mike at Siebert Outdoors is first class! I contacted him here on the site after I visited his website, but was absolutely overwhelmed with all my options! I asked him about creating me a little assortment of jigs as I intend on really getting more comfortable with the jigs this year. I wanted a little bit of everything, different hooks, different heads, different skirts, etc. I sent him a little wish list and the price range I was trying to stay in and he was happy to help make it happen! All I had to do was sit back and wait every day for them to show up and yesterday was the day!! I got home to find the finest quality craftsmanship I’ve seen on a jig! The assortment was awesome and the detail on the work is incredible. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the products and the service Mike provided! If anyone else had that overwhelmed feeling when browsing his site I’m certain you could give him a shout and have him help you out. I absolutely cannot wait to get that bluegill swim jig in the water, that thing looks phenomenal!! Thanks Mike!
  5. absolutely love my r2s s-wavers flop for me would be scatter rap, just weak all around for me
  6. jerkbaits and swimbaits for me
  7. it's my favorite search bait to use and often times you may find me a little buzzed.....
  8. very important to know if it's the floater, slow or fast sink. that will help to narrow down the answers you'll get. i have a floater, that thing swims awesome! over grass beds and submerged cover is where i like to throw it myself.
  9. Alright so sounds like you're mostly like me. I suppose I don't have/keep many backups so maybe that explains the pics I see....
  10. now that's an interesting idea!! guess it depends on what it's worth to you!
  11. sweeeeeeeeeet trip! 100+ day in February!!!!
  12. Vurrrrry nice fish!! Have fun at the classic, man i want to go.....
  13. have never done it, but often thought of finding someone that lived in a house on or close to the lake and just asking if i could fish it? most of them say residents or permission of resident or something like that.... personally i would NOT be trying to find the management company or HOA or anything like that because that would likely be a certain no. and i obviously wouldn't go trespassing as that is just a sure fire way to get yourself in trouble with the law.
  14. I am forever seeing guys post pics and sell stuff on the flea market with brand new in box lures. I for one just can't wait to get the thing out of the package (this really goes for anything and not just fishing gear). I usually pull it out of the package almost immediately and then toss the packaging almost as quickly. sure it's bit me before when trying to return something, but i suppose it's just my own personal habit. I'm wondering how many of you are like me or are OCD about keeping things in the package until the last moment you're ready to open it?
  15. nice fish, and like my little thing over here <<< work is interfering with your fishing man! my siebert jig order should be here on thursday. i CANNOT wait.... just in time for the weather to start warming up too, 70 degrees in ATL for the rest of the week. got a couple dredges in there too!
  16. Tommy, i've been out there a few times now. I really like the lake and it's close to my house. if you see the black and gray kayak hollar at me! i may or may not have the mutt with me that you see in my avatar <<<
  17. you'd want to head west in my opinion. lake fontana, lake glenville those are two lakes up in western nc that produce some smallies. I do know that the little tennessee river up in western nc holds some good smallies and is a blast to float/camp/fish
  18. man, it's going to change big time b/w here and there. water was in the 40-43 degree range and fishing was SLOW. only caught a handful, none real keepers. a-rig, rattle trap and jig were the only baits getting bit. Most were caught on the rig, then the trap and lastly the jig. by the time you get to the lake that water temp will be up and you'll find them more active than this week!
  19. one factor you need to weigh in here is that those baits you listed are 100% made in the USA. many of those cheaper baits everyone would like to compare this to would originate in Asian countries where they do not abide by the same labor laws nor copyright laws we adhere to. Many people will pay far more for goods produced in the USA. Let alone high quality, high demand items. It all boils down to preference, but you can't really make an apples to apples comparison between these baits you listed and typicals plastics, cranks, etc.
  20. i would like to throw some soft bodied swimbaits around there and let them flutter off those rocks. something like a zoom fluke or a paddle tail swimbait perhaps. that's just my opinion of course....
  21. check out those ascend kayaks at BPS, they have a really nice 12' SOT for less than $500 and as stated, craigslist is a great option. i'm looking for a yak for my wife as well, about the same situation as you.
  22. very cool! i look forward to reading the article!
  23. agree…. big fish though, no doubt
  24. I recently off loaded a bunch of rods that I rarely used to a member on the site with hopes of buying a new upgraded combo. however some stupid eyeglasses took the funds away. my wife managed some gift card money at work and gave me a $50 BPS card which i combined with my ~$15 rewards at BPS. I used that $65 and put towards a new Shimano Compre Casting Rod 7'2" Med Hvy X Fast for jigs. All I can say is WOW I like this rod for $109!! Super sensitive! I was dragging a 3/8oz jig on the bottom on sunday and could literally feel every little bump in the road. Best part was I was able to put it to the test and got a little bend in the rod before the day was over. Managed to land a nice little 4lber on the trial run! i have it paired with my older model bantam curado which didn't balance it as well as i would like so it's a work in progress, but I absolutely love the rod, may be my first of a few Shimano rods!
  25. not a fan of watching his info shows. certainly not any of them filmed in the food court of a mall..... glad you guys saved me any time that i would have wasted watching.
