  1. i have a 6 month old chartreuse spot on my garage floor where i dropped and broke a bottle of JJ's! i don't think it's even faded out one bit!
  2. i had detective @whitwolf on the case! he found out they were made my rebel and then painted my megabass as some sort of marketing ploy by rebel to sell more of the craw style crankbaits. Really can't describe how awesome they look in person, the camera/lightning seem to totally take away from what the eye can see!
  3. yeah i had a problem that one time when i paid them with a kidney.... went round and around with the customer service, but they refused to give me my kidney back....
  4. i used to deer hunt a lot as a kid. sometimes interested me, sometimes not! i was hunting a ladder stand on my uncle's honey hole because he had broken his leg and said i could use his spot til he healed up. i had been there a couple hours and was just dead tired and dozing off. i decided it was best to climb down and take a nap on the ground instead of falling out of the stand. i was waiting on my dad to come back through and pick me up on the four wheeler. i woke up abruptly while on the ground almost in a panic state and when i opened my eyes there was an 8 point buck standing less than 10 feet from me! i tried to slip the gun up and get him, but he took off like a lightning bolt when i went to move my arm. never heard the end of it from my dad or uncle!
  5. nice ride!
  6. izorline xxx is a really nice line for topwater lures!
  7. if you stick with the spincast, i'd get a daiwa goldcast. my dad's only reel he will use. he has 2 of them and swears by them. i've used one of his before and they are sturdy, built like a tank and no failures.
  8. i put my ride 135 in the back of my nissan frontier. yes i get some looks, but i've hauled it a few thousand miles like that with no issues. hooksets, not much change to me. i don't flip, but i pitch a lot. a roll cast is essential. if you fish a river i think a rudder can make or break a trip sometimes! with one you can easily drift in and out from the shoreline so to speak and make many less corrective paddle strokes which result in many more opportunities to cast. on a lake it's minimal need if any. i hate to anchor period. it's time consuming, extra gear and in a river can be just too risky. i'm with flyfisher on either using the eddies or just parking the yak and fishing.
  9. i prefer the ones like a jay shows above. i also prefer it on the underside of the rod to avoid tangling up my line. i actually strongly dislike the placement of the one on my daiwa tatula as it seems to always get slack line caught in it. i'm not a fan of the placement on my dx703sf which is between the butt end and the reel seat area. also not too fond of the closed box type keeper that is on the original generation champion extremes i have.
  10. Just curious what line type and size you prefer on your BFS setup? I've got a few different lines to choose from, but just looking for what you're using and if you like it. Reel: Curado 51e, Yumeya BFS MG spool, Hedgehog Studios AIR BFS bearings Rod: Major Craft Corzza 6'7"L BFS Thanks!
  11. i fish from the yak too, but i have a strict 1:1 ratio on the rods and reels. they all have their specific pairing, but that's just what i like and/or works for me. if what you're doing works, i'd keep it that way as you'll save some dough in the long run.
  12. i was a proponent of the skip gap until i used the owner twistlock and i intend to never go back! i've never had an issue with the skip gap, just had a better hook up ratio with the owner hooks.
  13. i agree that the brass weight and glass bead combo is the way to use them. the sound of the weight clicking the glass bead is very unique.
  14. it's all personal preference though. i have a dx703 and dx704 and i'd opt for the 703 for what you've listed. although i usually like to "fish down" a power rather than up a power. i think it boils down to personal preference between those 2. and i have an HP spinning rod dx703 and the build on those newer versions is awesome!
  15. i agree with trying to find a solid reel and solid rod, but separate rather than a combo. you can score a great setup for around your $170 budget no doubt about it.
  16. personally i'd love to up north towards minnesota and slip the yak into some of those pristine natural lakes. otherwise, i'd like to take a little road trip around florida!
  17. the grip works the best no doubt about it. i used the hook for a while until i rigged up a grip on my scale not too long ago and all the fish i've talked to about it really seem to appreciate it
  18. normal aldebaran on the nrx 853c would make a sweet combo! that reel will be capable of throwing everything that the rod can handle. congrats on 2 nice items you'll soon have!
  19. i'd keep with the 30lb if it were me
  20. i caught this beauty on a Dobyns DX 703 spinning rod just a week or so ago. was using a 35 size pflueger patriarch and 15lb braid with the spro popper jr. not fishing the heaviest cover/slop by any means, but a MH or H spinning rod will be no problem for most frog applications.
  21. when i was in florida for vacation i was fishing some of the small ponds there and would get some blow ups on the frog, but that was about it. i tried a rage menace on a owner weighted twistlock hook and started nailing the fish. it was pretty easy to fish it too whether in open water or in the weedlines.
  22. acey deucy is one fun, cruel game!
