buzzed bait

so i submitted an email on their site and within an hour someone had responded to me! basically stated they have no official policy on returns, but they review them case by case and if i wanted to send it to them they'd check it out. so i suppose i will and just see what they say. like raul said, worst they can say is no right? honestly, i was just impressed with how quickly they responded. if they do anything about the bait, it will surpass all expectations...

i don't think you're far off topic Dwight... if the OP gets those remarks that he's unsporting or whatever else it will likely deter him from using another way of catching fish. if everyone went by tournament rules, they'd all fish tournaments i presume (i do not fish tournaments either). i like to troll some baits behind the kayak from spot to spot, toss an umbrella rig, fish live bait, etc. all of which are not permissible in a tournament, but certainly satisfying to me when i catch one! a great many of us got into this sport via live bait, odd how so many look down on it as they get "further into" the sport! to the OP, i say give it a shot, see if it works for you and if you like it. don't feel ashamed or embarrassed to post up a new PB on this method either!! i know i'd be one proud S.O.B. to post up the PB largemouth that @Dwight Hottle (over 11lb) or @Ski (over 14lb) caught on live bait!!!

oh for sure Raul, i just didn't know if that was kind of "wrong" of me to even assume they might have any "liability". i mean it really wasn't a hard hit at all, but obviously it hit it either hard enough or just right for it to break off there like that. just never had something like that happen so i wasn't sure how to proceed. regardless, i'll have to get another one, i love that bait and now i'm down to just the black one (orochi i think is what it's called). seriously might be the easiest bait to walk the dog on!

i've seen a lot of guys put a blanket or something soft on the trunk and close it in the trunk. then they can slide it up without the blanket moving one bit. seems like a really easy solution. and i agree with flyfisher in that it's more of the process than strength. i would highly suggest you try this a number of times by yourself at your house before you ever hit the road and try it on the ramp. will save you time and frustration. also keep in mind that sometimes you may have no alternative but to load it up while your car is on an angle so try that too to make sure you've got your process all figured out. i have a truck now, but used to load my kayak up on the top of a toyota camry. it just took some practice to figure out the best way to do it, but after a short while i was a pro at it.

My nephew is nearly 4 now and loves to fish like his "Unc" (that's me, the uncle) and loves to hunt like his dad! last week they had youth week in NC where kids under 16 were allowed to turkey hunt 1 week before the season opened for everyone else. My dad and I got the little man a lifetime hunt & fish license for his 1st birthday and he's already making it count! My brother and his buddy took the little guy to a honey hole where they hoped he'd get to see and hear a gobbler. They've had a blind set up there all winter so the turkey were used to it. My brother's buddy has a huge farm and doesn't hunt nor let adults hunt there, but he'll some youngsters come deer and turkey hunt there. My nephew was practicing all day Friday with my brother on the single shot .410 and some paper targets. My brother was holding the butt of the gun and little man would aim and pull the trigger. he was surprisingly good at hitting the paper at about 30 yards! Saturday morning came and he woke me up about 5AM to tell me he was going and to wish him luck! about 7:30 the little devil calls me and said he had something to show me and to meet them at mcdonalds. he bagged him a nice gobbler with a 10" beard from about 20 yards! my brother's buddy got a video of it and his excitement after the shot was priceless! he high fived my brother about 3 or 4 times and was busting at the seems! i think you can tell from the photo, my brother was one happy camper, so proud of his big boy! my nephew told everyone he saw last saturday that he got him a turkey and that he was going to grill it!! yesterday my brother had it on the smoker the whole day and little man was so proud that everybody got to taste "his turkey"! absolutely priceless, had to share it!

i have to do some "spring cleaning" about every quarter or i go crazy.... oddly enough, i enjoy it. it's the only type of "cleaning" i ever look forward to!

this guy knows what's up on the bladed jigs. those 4 are the only colors i own in them.

and if you're finding them on the beds and targeting them, the weird colors make it really easy to see your bait and what's going on with it!

my buddy was fishing a 90 in a pond not too long ago so i was able to see the action on it. i really liked it! it's like a buzzbait that you can stop and go! i'll end up with one (or more) in the tacklebox before long....

I was starting out throwing the topwater yesterday near the bridge and on one squirrelly cast i threw it a little too far right into the rip rap on the bank. as it started coming back i knew something wasn't right about it. well what had happened was..... the back just broke straight off. I guess my question here is do i just chalk this up as part of the game or should i try to contact Megabass to see if by chance they'd replace it. i mean i know they're not designed to pop the dog on the rip rap, but it didn't hit all that hard from my judgement... of course had to be my favorite walking bait in my favorite color!! just curious what the group thinks? Even though the wind absolutely sucked, i still got out for a little bit on Saturday and Sunday. Of course when the wife was gone all weekend and i had the green light to fish sun up to sun down, mother nature had other plans. I'll fish in just about any conditions except for brutal wind because in the kayak it just sucks. That said, i hit the pond not far from the house on Saturday and found the place to be pretty poor in terms of the water. It already gets over fished and no management, but now the water is so low i'm surprised to see any fish. so i hit the drainage pool on the backside that doesn't seem to get fished. Hooked up with 1 little bity guy that put up zero fight once hooked and came straight to the bank. That was all the action i had at the pond. Yesterday i hit the road early and got on the lake right at sun up. Wanted to get out there before the wind started howling again. It was cold, 37 degrees but water temps were about 57 when i put in. I paddled over to the other side of the channel from the ramp and hit the first few docks i could see and about the 5th dock i ran the spinnerbait right by the posts and nearly had the rod pulled out of my hands! one nice sweeping hookset on it and she was pinned. this beauty had ZERO intentions of coming in the kayak though. the fight was as good as any i've had in quite some time. i'd get her just close enough to lip and then she'd have the rod nearly in the water taking another run on me. she even head butted the kayak one good time in an effort to shake the bait, but i finally managed to bring her in. 4lb2oz on the digitals, but felt like it was a DD all the way til i got her in! couldn't believe the fight in this one! ended up being the only fish i caught as the wind started to make life miserable yet again, but man was it worth it! like i said, 2 polar opposites!! skinny guy, no fight: prize fighting heavyweight champ (look at that tail too!):

that's awesome Paul! really liked that line about the "magic glasses". just a week ago while trout fishing with the old man, i told him to put my glasses on to see under the water a little bit and he couldn't believe his old eyes! great fish too, i bet she's making some boys jealous!

just as slow and steady as i can go with the blade still vibrating seems to work the best for me. don't forget about on the fall though, much like a jig, they'll take the bait on the initial drop too.

novel idea, but too many variables to make it a controlled study. once you put the fish in a tank in a lab, you're no longer fishing where i fish...
