  1. I have the 798 on my bow, at $650 that's a steal with all the perks it has. Of course bigger is better, but at $800 budget I'd say u found ur fish finder.
  2. I got the Hydrowave installed, I have a bow fish finder so i guess that used my two wires up, thank you for checking though Chief 2. I ended up running them back to the console with fish tape. I highly recommend a buddy to help you listen cause it took for ever to try and "get lucky" feeding that tape up to the bow, seems like i keep getting knocked off course. All i have left to do is run the speaker wire down the trolling motor, hard part is over!
  3. Wow that was some serious knowledge drop. Seems like HD on fish finders is a little miss leading. I'd thought it meant better resolution like on TVs.
  4. Good point I feel like the 798 at the console since it's close to my face would work great
  5. Looking at different fish finders to add to my console, I have gotta get my console fish finder upgraded, right now i just have an old school 2d. I want SI for sure. Have to opportunity to maybe purchase an HB 898c HD or a 998c (from what i have read exactly the same on these two units just HD and bigger screen) or should I just keep looking around. Which got me to thinking, bigger screen? or HD? Im still young enough my eyes aren't' getting bad yet (30) ha Those that can draw the comparison let me know what you think helps more when looking at the SI. My first thought gimmie HD for a clearer definition. Then someone just posted above that the 798 HD are onsale/closeout for $650 at gander, granted its only a 5" screen but i have one on my bow and like it other than at times i wish it was bigger, but sometimes a deal is a deal and with it on my console staring me right in the face i dont feel it would be to bad. or Sway me to Lowrance side, we just gotta keep it reasonable lets say keep at or preferably below $1k. Thanks!
  6. I became a fan of Rick Clunn RC2 Spotted Shad. I hear his Green Copper Shad and Copper Perch are solid choices as well. Of course i then added some Lucky Crafts & B.D.S. and some Bagley Balsa square bills Get some Craw patterns too! I went Crank'n Crazy this christmas, i have plenty of choices ha now.
  7. Dang no substitute I guess for the best way ha which means I have no idea how to feed those wires down thru my boat to get to the batteries, or more trouble than I want to make for myself, may have to end up taking it to bps instead.
  8. Ahhh yeah agree I'd fear interference on the finder. So yea probably not a good idea. There's other positives up here though, the lights and the trolling motor. But I guess nothing will beat running it back to the battery.
  9. Well instead of giving the boys at bps my money I thought I should be able to do this on my own. So where do I run the power for this? All the way back to my battery? The cable hydrowave gives you is only 6' if I need to run it to the battery I guess I'll need longer wire or Can you splice into a wire up front? Like the positive from the fishfinder? I removed my top panel at the bow and looked around hoping for an accessory connector or something if there is I didn't spot it. This is all I have currently done no splicing or anything waiting to hear feedback before I go blindly cutting wires. Haha Anyone have experience with installing hydrowave? Thanks!
  10. One that always sticks out in my mind was last year on the Bass Pros Evers cut down willow tree limbs and dropped in the lake, The plus side the fresh cut limb with green leaves really draw the bait fish in and of course then the bass, the down side is they dont last. But he was able to come back in 24 hours and catch some fish. I know during an "event" it would be priceless to have a spot like that knowing you could show up and expect to catch something.
  11. Nothing beats checking them out and what feels best for you but I gotta say Gimme those ducketts son!
  12. what was the swimbait name?
  13. Ahhhh I see now no hooks or split rings bummer
  14. I've heard about these and there on sale 9.99 or 3 for $25 at TW. Anyone have some experience care to chime in?
  15. I can't remember this pros name but pretty sure he's a big auburn fan. Remember watching last year he won a tournament on these BPS swim baits that had a treble hook, that were discontinued. He said him and his dad had scoured all the BPS all over and bought all they had but he was was getting low. You'd think he could have bought the molds or something.
  16. Thanks for the heads up 2 heavy 7 footers on their way wish they had the MH but hey killer deal on a new rod even if it is turquoise ha.
  17. Winter storm here in Oklahoma didn't have time to order but Hastings here had some books on the recommended list. Ike's fishing on the edge In fisherman: largemouth bass
  18. i grabbed a SQ bill and his jerk bait, quickly added more after a day on the lake. Once i realized what they were modeled after though no surprise. I still pulled the trigger on some Megabass after reading i just have to try this lure that is forged by the hands of great great great grandson of a samurai and infused with the spirit of a mighty warrior... or at least thats what i tell myself to justify the price.
  19. i kept checking for a surprise sale by TW guess not.
  20. I was wondering if TW might have a surprise sale the day of,I mean 20% was nice so I don't really see it getting any better. Just seemed different to do it week early
  21. I bought 1 this spring, then bought a 2nd one right after, now Santy Claus is bringing me two more, so yea i guess there alright. hehe Ive looked at other rods and used others in the past but for me, i keep going back to ducketts, plus customer service is great. Had one break for a mere $15 dollar and shipped off the model number piece of the rod and had a new rod in my hands in about a week. Hard to beat that warranty service like that alone makes me want to purchase more ducketts.

  23. I havnt done GPS MPH seems like off hand RPM is about 5500ish and Speedometer i have hit 44, which im sure based on all i have heard is not accurate, probably more like 38 - 40mph. If i could get 3-5 more MPH i'd be interested in a new prop, am i dreaming to big?
  24. Thinking about upgrading to a stainless steel prop to boost my top speed, my main concern is top speed only. No idea what pitch, type etc i would need any tips or info would be appreciated. 75HP Mercury OptiMax
  25. I recently broke a Duckett and based on the customer service i'm sold on them even more. Just had to ship the chunk of the rod with the logo and model number on it. I just cut it down on my chop saw. a check for $15 bucks. And boom new rod in less than a week. Bonus i talked to a LIVE real person when i called, no crazy menu to navigate just a nice lady who answered the phone, who made sure i was taken care of.
