  1. I'm not a fan of braid, but this is interesting. Of course, I've got enough Mccoy to last for a while and found a new 1/4 lb spool of Big Game floating in the lake yesterday that must've blown out so I'm good for a while. I'd like to see the translucent reviews though.
  2. X2....C-Rig has been my ticket for the bigger ones lately.
  3. I totally agree..but with Mojo Carolina Sliders or the Water Gremlin long low profile bullet sinkers I don't hang near as much to start with and when I do, they seem to pop loose easier without circling around as much. I haven't tried the Pro-Jos but I bet they would work good too.
  4. The average CPUE (Catch Per Unit Effort) that's listed in my map book for the combined areas of my lake is 119.6 for example. That figure from the F/W folks is a few years old. I don't know how that relates to acreage or if it's a good number. Maybe some body knows this stuff?
  5. Way too many variables of course but shock surveys at lakes are for that very reason...population ESTIMATE analysis.
  6. Lol, I didn't mean to reply above and the post here made no sense. I think made two posts on my phone from my pocket.
  7. I use a 7ft MH rod, 15lb Mccoy line. 1/2 oz MOJO Carolina Slider or low profile bullet weight. I don't like egg sinkers, they hang up a lot for me. I use a Carolina Keeper with two glass beads and about a 18inch leader. Pull...Pop...Pause, then repeat BACK TO THE BOAT!
  8. I need to try that. I've got a few cheap Storms with the exposed hook but they hang too much. What brand do you like? To the OP...not trying to hijack .
  9. Most Favorite - Jig, it produces bigger fish for me. Least Favorite - Jig, detecting strikes can be a pain. We're told to swing if you feel anything different. If I did that I'd set the hook about 10 times per cast on every rock or tree I hit.
  10. Very nice...
  11. After my performance tonight, I'd say don't throw black jigs and black worms. I couldn't buy a bite after dark.
  12. X2... I use their Clear Blue Fluorescent for line watching and night fishing. Better than Silver Thread, but I've never tried Mason's.
  13. Carolina Rig to the chest..lol It happens every weekend at my lake, not that close but it does get crazy. I try to ignore it and keep fishing.
  14. It was before my time, but I thought I read an article that said black/red was at one time more popular than black/blue?
  15. It's the only jig I've bought in over a year. Bluegill is my favorite color. Black/Blue is a close 2nd.
  16. I've lived here for about 25 years. It's LOU-AH-VUL or LOUIE-VILLE. Any variation with a 'S' would be a clear sign that you're a clueless Yankee trying to ask directions to the nearest Meijer.
  17. Tighten all connections at battery, check fuses off the batteries too.
  18. It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong on the hook set to me. Try to keep them down and survive that first jump but when they throw one every now and then that's just fishing.
  19. Double uni....aka fishin fool knot is what I use too. I switched when I saw it beat the Palomar in Knot Wars a few years ago.
  20. Make sure the lien is resolved. Also, if your state requires a trailer tag, make sure you get a separate title for the trailer.
  21. Yeah, I measured before I ordered and it's very close but I can squeeze it in without touching the brace. But it will drop down right next to it. Is his a 175?
  22. He's going to weld what he can see and then retest. Hopefully there is not more damage under the keel guard that we can't see.
  23. I found a local boat shop to do it reasonably so I'd rather go that route than try another epoxy. They can't get to it this week so while I'm waiting I'm going to install a trolling motor pedal tray and catch up on chores this weekend, lol.
