  1. High winds means Carolina Rigs with big sinkers for me, or heavy spinnerbaits.
  2. Lasher replied to Malice237's topic in Fishing Tackle
The one that looks like a crayfish, Rage Craw Pink
  3. Silver and Black shad rap 05 and 07 is one of my all time successful lures. $6 bucks at walmart, they do ware down and hooks are just average, but I will keep buying them as long as they keep providing me with bass. I also like Husky Jerks and Shadow rap jerk baits. I own several DT series but have not had as much luck with those.
  4. Both are good but I agree that Cherokee is probably a better fun fishing lake with a variety of species with big smallmouth. Douglas has some big ones but can be know for hit and miss days. Eastern TN is an excellent area in the country for access to good lakes. Have fun.
  5. Got me thinking about some of the guys who kill carp, gar, bowfin and other "nuisance" species. Should fishermen kill species to help population? I remember a summer I lived in yellowstone and biologist required anyone who caught a lake trout to kill it.
  6. I spoke with the a biologist who says every habitat is different and should be regulated to fit the need of that particular fishery; instead of any broad brush rules or limits. Some lakes need slot limits while others need catch and release only. I eat a few fish from time to time but prefer to turn them loose for another day, however walleye are delicious and I can't help myself.
  7. Do you stay at Litchfield by the Sea? My mom has timeshare there and I have been going down for years, mostly fishing the inlets and intercoastal waterway. This year I plan to pull a boat and launch out of Georgetown in Winyah bay. From there you can access a ton of water, but the tides can be tricky.
  8. I learned this lesson the hard way and broke off on a few nice fish. Floro is much harder for me to see than my copolymer and I had a twist in my knot that caused me to break a few times. Once I slowed down and looked very closely at my palomar knot, I had no more problems. Details matter and I will always kick myself for losing fish for something so simple.
  9. HillBilly, How was Shearon Harris?
  10. Almost all the pro's use spinning gear with shakey heads. I was watching Dean Rojas on Bassmaster live load the boat with a spinning reel and light line. Sometimes the 1/8oz shakey head is very effective and it's very difficult to cast on a baitcaster.
  11. So your username is Polarkraft195Pro and you suggest, promote, and post pictures of Polarkraft?
  12. What kinda of aluminum boat do you have? I was thinking of Ultrex would be a nice with aluminum for boat control.
  13. Triton has a Fish and Ski Line. 220 escape, 206 allure, 186 escape. Check out their website and maybe find a local dealer to look at them.
  14. I am currently searching and doing homework on Aluminum and fiberglass as well. I seem to get mixed reviews about aluminum's being blown around in the wind and being rough in choppy water. On the other hand, they are lighter to pull, can go in shallow water, and more affordable to maintain over time. The selection of used fiberglass is much greater than aluminum and I'm starting to think for the money, a used glass rig with upgrades is the way to go but still doing homework. I live close to you in Asheville and fish a lot of the same lakes.
  15. I was thinking about picking up a cranking rod and like the Chrome series from ***. Anyone tried these and have any thoughts? http://www.***.com/ http://www.***.com/fate-chrome/
  16. I go for extreme darks or extreme bright and flash with lots of vibration. Also fish tight to cover as mentioned before, the fish hold close to structure in muddy water. I go for a black trick worm fished close to laydowns, a chartreuse crankbait or spinnerbait, and gold/silver RattleTrap/lipless in muddy water. If water temp is warm, I like to fish fast to create more commotion.
  17. PLine Fluoroclear, strong, effective, affordable. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/P-Line_FloroClear/descpage-PLFC.html
  18. Falls Lake and Shearon Harris Reservoir are excellent. Jordan Lake is hit or miss and you are still very close to Kerr, Hyco, Mayo, and Lake Gaston. You are in a good fishing area where you can fish 12 months a year
  19. 38Lbs on Falls and Harris over the weekend. You will be catching it at a good time. Squarebills, shakeyheads, and Jigs
  20. I live 30 minutes away in Asheville and have fished it several time. This lake is a tourist destination, and not known as much for fishing but bass, carp, and brim can be caught in the right conditions. If your on the bank, it's going to be tough to access as the mountains slope right off into the water. It's not easy to walk around and cast in most places, hopefully you have access to a dock. Throw a shakey head black worm or small crank bait around any timber or blown down trees you can find. Also please tell everyone in Florida to stop buying property and moving to western north carolina.
  21. I fish Savannah River lakes Keowee, Harwell, Russell and East Tennessee Lakes Douglas, Cherokee and a few others. Depends on the weekend but they can get crowded and weather changes by the minute so my concern is that I would be frustrated by the mod v. On calm days with low traffic, it would be nice to take it up shallow in places.
  22. Has anyone had issues with a modified V hull on Aluminum boats. I was warned that they get blown around in the wind and don't handle chop well. Is a deep V aluminum a better buy?
  23. To bad for me, but this boat was pending and has now sold. Still looking for a 19-20 ft aluminum bass boat with upgrades for tournament fishing. Any help is appreciated.
  24. After some searching, it looks like the only way to donate gear is through the local events, which there are none that close to me. I know all these organizations need money, but I think it would be nice if you could ship or drop off old gear and it somehow be distributed to the kids. Anyway I will see what I can do, just hate throwing away stuff when I know some kid would like to have it.
